EP # 128 | Black Conservatism
What is a ‘black’ conservative? What does the qualifier ‘black.’ add to ‘conservatism’ as an ideology or philosophy so that black conservatives are viewed as political anomalies? Why are black people who are conservative so often labeled an “Uncle Tom” (among other pejorative terms)? Darrell and Virgil take on those questions, and more, in this “burn the ships” episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled “Black Conservatism.”

EP # 127 | A Biblical Theology of Abortion (Part 2)
In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, co-hosts Darrell Harrison and Virgil Walker discuss a biblical theology of abortion from the 3-point thesis that: 1) Abortion is the premeditated murder of unborn image-bearers of God (Gen. 1:27). 2) Murder is sin in God’s sight (Ex. 20:13). 3) In view of numbers 1 and 2, no individual has the right to premeditatedly end the life of an unborn child regardless of the circumstances by which that unborn child is conceived. Additionally, Darrell and Virgil connect the issue of abortion to the historical agenda of feminism and the LGBTQ movement of the 1800s.

EP # 125 | The Enneagram and the Gospel
The Enneagram. What is it? What are its origins? Why is it gaining popularity within the evangelical church? And why should believers in Jesus Christ care about such questions as these? Listen as Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker provide you with biblical answers to those important questions in episode #125 of the Just Thinking podcast, titled “The Enneagram and the Gospel.”

EP # 124 | A Biblical Theology of Climate Change
“Climate change.” The term is ubiquitous. Everywhere you turn, it seems, the phrase “climate change” is in your face. But what exactly is “climate change” in the first place? Is it the same thing as biblical stewardship of the earth and its resources? How are Christians understand what “climate change” is and respond biblically to it? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker take you directly to Scripture to answer those questions, and others, in this expanded episode titled, A Biblical Theology of Climate Change.

EP # 122 | Spiritual Warfare
In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker address what, arguably, is among the most misunderstood doctrines within the Protestant evangelism: spiritual warfare. What is spiritual warfare, biblically, and what practical steps can believers in Jesus Christ take to engage in that warfare victoriously? Listen as Darrell and Virgil walk you through a biblical understanding of “Spiritual Warfare.”

EP # 121 | A Biblical Theology of Suffering
According to 1 Thessalonians 5:18, believers in Jesus Christ are to “give thanks in everything, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” But does ‘everything’ include giving thanks to God when we suffer? Listen as Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker look to Scripture for answers to that crucial question.

EP # 120 | Indwelling Sin in Believers
Disclaimer: This episode of the Just Thinking podcast contains material that may not be suitable for young children. Parental discretion is strongly advised.
Indwelling sin. It is a reality that professing believers in Jesus Christ must deal with until the day we die or Christ returns to take us home to heaven. But how are we to deal biblically with that reality? How can we, as possessors of a new nature in Christ, navigate the tension between being regenerate while having remaining sin within us? Listen as Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker look to God’s Word for answers in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled Indwelling Sin in Believers.

EP # 119 | Cultural Denominationalism
Does the world have anything to offer the Church today? It appears that some protestant churches, denominations - and their leaders - seem to think so. But to what end? What's the payoff for them? Are there to be no distinctions between the kingdom of darkness (the world) and the kingdom of Light (the Church) in our churches and denominations? Those questions, and others, are the focus of Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled "Cultural Denominationalism."

EP # 118 | A Biblical Response to Perfectionism
Behavioral perfectionism – not to be confused with the doctrine sometimes referred to as Christian perfectionism or sinless perfection – is a sin many professing Christians struggle with (yes, it is a sin). But not only is the individual perfectionist affected by their behavior, so are those who are closest to them. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker leverage their experience as biblical counselors to walk you through what the Word of God, and other trusted biblical sources, have to say about dealing biblically with the issue of behavioral perfectionism toward the goal of gaining victory over it.

EP # 117 | Evangelical Deconstructionism
In Colossians 2:8, the apostle Paul exhorts believers to not be taken captive through philosophies and deceptions that are rooted in the traditions of men. Deconstruction, a philosophy that has its origins in Marxism, is one of those deceptions. And yet, there are those within evangelicalism today who are actively promoting and advocating that deconstruction is good and virtuous for the church. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, hosts Darrell Harrison and Virgil ‘Omaha’ Walker make it clear that they do not concur with that view. Listen as they “turn pages” and discuss what God’s Word has to say about “Evangelical Deconstructionism.” That’s the title of episode 117 of the Just Thinking podcast.

EP # 116 | The Church and Culture
We hear that phrase that Christians are 'in the world, but not of the world'—but do we really understand what is meant by that? Do we have any idea from where that concept is derived in Scripture? In this episode of the Just Thinking Podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker look closely at what Christ meant by this phrase. This episode takes a close look a the "Church and Culture."

EP # 115 | The Anti-Christ of Black Liberation Theology [Live]
With over 5,000+ registered, the 2021 G3 Conference was a massive success and with the theme being - "Christ" - it was great to hear so many great messages on the deity of Christ. With the primary focus on the deity of Christ, Darrell and Virgil took a different route in order to focus on the anti-Christ agenda that is fully at work in the hearts of the "culture" that seeks to elevate "blackness" as it's cultural savior.

EP # 113 | Why Are You Afraid?
COVID-19, mask mandates, vaccine passports, inflation, job security - these realities and more have many professing Christians today locked in the throes of fear and anxiety about the future. To be sure, not all fear and anxiety Christians experience is sinful, and yet there are times when the fear and anxiety we feel is, in fact, not in keeping with how God would have His people respond. How do you recognize and respond rightly to sinful fear and anxiety? What’s the remedy for overcoming it? Darrell Harrison and Virgil Walker consider those crucial questions through the lens of the Word of God in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled “Why Are You Afraid?”

EP # 112 | Has God Really Said?
The topic of 'women preachers' and 'women pastors' has been hotly debated for decades within the evangelical church. Categories such as "complementarian" and "egalitarian" have been created to describe the two primary camps that seem increasingly divided over this subject. However, in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil "Omaha" Walker assert that this topic is not a matter of "ism's," but is a simple question of submission and obedience to the clear teachings of the Word of God. Listen as they look to the Scriptures to answer the age-old question, "Has God Really Said?"

EP # 111 | Activist Theology
The #LeaveLOUD movement is urging black evangelical Christians to exit white evangelical spaces, primarily on the basis that white evangelical Christians don't recognize or celebrate black evangelical Christians for who they are. But is such a movement biblical? On this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil 'Omaha' Walker take a look at #LeaveLOUD through the broader lens of "activist theology," and Christians who see an activist gospel as a means to achieve a particular end within the Church.

EP # 108 | Critical Race Theory
Critical Race Theory, or CRT for short, is, for many professing evangelicals today, a philosophy that is steeped in confusion and ambiguity. That is by design. In this expanded episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker spend more than three hours unpacking the origins, tenets, and threats that Critical Race Theory poses not only to the evangelical church, but to society as a whole.

EP # 104 | Breonna Taylor and the Gospel
In the wake of the killing of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year old black woman, by Louisville, KY police officers on March 13, 2020—and the subsequent decision by a grand jury to not charge the officers with murder—many people, including many professing Christians, are nevertheless calling for “justice” for Breonna Taylor. But was “justice” not done? More importantly, what is “justice” to begin with? What should “justice” actually look like in society? Is “justice” primarily a matter of subjective standards or of objective truth? Listen as Darrell Harrison and Virgil (“Omaha”) Walker bring some hard biblical truths to the issue of “justice” in this special episode of the Just Thinking podcast.

EP # 100 | A Biblical Exposition of “White Culture”
Recently, the National Museum of African American History & Culture (NMAAHC) posted on its website an infographic titled “Aspects & Assumptions of Whiteness & White Culture in the United States.” The infographic, which has since been removed from the NMAAHC website, outlined 14 areas that, in the opinion of the NMAAHC, are rooted in “whiteness” and “white culture.” In this special episode of the Just Thinking Podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker conduct an in-depth analysis of the infographic through the lens of Scripture. The episode is part Bible study and part history lesson.

EP # 099 | Assurance of Salvation
To be a Christian is, by definition, to possess salvation and all that it entails (forgiveness of sin, adoption as children of God, eternal reward in heaven, and much more). And yet, many professing Christians struggle to believe the promises that salvation brings because they don't possess the assurance that they are saved to begin with. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and Virgil ("Omaha") show you from God's Word that assurance can be yours forever.

Ep # 097 | Our Blessed Hope
Pandemics, quarantines, layoffs, bankruptcies, divorces, suicides–the news seems to be getting worse every day. In these troubling and encouraging times, where can one turn to find hope? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker discuss how God uses trials and adversity in the lives of His people to reorient them away from the temporal troubles of this world and toward the “Blessed Hope” we have in Jesus Christ.

EP # 096 | Christian Contentment
Adversity has a way of revealing our true selves, especially during times of trial that seem to last for a prolonged period of time. It is during those times that Christians must guard against allowing the sin of discontentment to take root in our hearts. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) discuss what God’s Word has to say about how Christians can be genuinely content in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.

EP # 095 | Pornography in the Church
The statistics tell the story — pornography is a destroyer. It destroys marriages, families, careers, and reputations. In other words, pornography destroys lives. Christians are not immune to this scourge. And yet pornography remains one of the least-addressed issues in the church today. In one of the most crucial episodes ever produced by the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and Virgil (“Omaha”) look to Scripture for answers to why pornography is such a problem for so many — including within the church — and how the gospel of Christ can lead to freedom from its unmerciful enslavement.
“Because of technical difficulties related to increased Internet usage as a result of COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, you may notice intermittent instances of audio interference. We sincerely apologize.”

EP # 094 | Do Not Love the World
The coronavirus continues to affect the lives of countless people around the world. But notwithstanding the casualties the COVID-19 pandemic has left in its wake, God is using that adversity to expose some things about the hearts of His people that some may not want to acknowledge or admit. Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) expound on that thesis in this timely and heart-penetrating episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled “Do Not Love the World.”

EP # 093 | A Biblical Theology of the Role of Government
With the U.S. presidential elections only months away, many Christians, particularly young believers, are supporting candidates who endorse a socialist view of government. More specifically, the idea that it is the role of government to promote social equality. But is such a view of government biblical? In this extended episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker take an in-depth look into the Scriptures–and history–to answer that question.

EP # 092 | Racial Reconciliation?
What is “racial reconciliation”? Is it biblical? Many evangelicals seem to think it is. So much so that “racial reconciliation” has become big business with some Christian ministries and organizations. But what does Scripture have to say about the subject? Listen as Darrell and Omaha look to the Word of God for clarity and answers to those and other questions in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast.

EP # 091 | Woke Worship (Part 2)
A recent article in Christianity Today addressed some challenges pastors are encountering as they work to meet the felt needs of their multiethnic congregations. But should multiethnicity be a focus of the church’s mission? Just how “woke” should a worship service be? Listen as Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) answer these and other questions in “Woke Worship: Part 2.”

In this special edition of the Just Thinking podcast, which was recorded live at the 2020 G3 Conference in Atlanta on Thursday, January 16, 2020, Darrell and Omaha discuss the topic of “Woke Worship” or, what they describe in theological terms as “identity ecclesiology.” The brothers chose the topic of “Woke Worship” in keeping with the overall theme of the conference–Worship. EP # 089 | Superstitious Christianity
Are you a superstitious Christian? Be honest. Do you know someone who is? In fact, what is a “superstitious Christian” anyway? In this final episode of the Just Thinking podcast for 2019, Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) discuss a practice that many people who profess to be Christian engage in every day–superstitions–and why such beliefs are antithetical to what it truly means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

EP # 088 | The Grace of God
As the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays approach, the grace of God will be the focus of many pulpits and households around the world. But do we really understand what the grace of God is and means and why it is important that we, as Christians, thank God for His grace? Listen as Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) discuss what the Bible teaches doctrinally about the grace of God and why the church needs to recommit itself to take that doctrine more seriously than it does currently.

EP # 087 | Politics and the Black Church
As Christians, to what degree should one’s theology shape or influence his or her view of politics? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) discuss that question in light of a comment made recently on social media by Bishop Paul S. Morton. Morton, a black man, urged black Christians who are considering supporting Democrat candidate Pete Buttigieg a biological male who is “married” to a biological male, for president in 2020, to stand on the biblical definition of marriage, and why Morton paid a price for making such a comment.

EP # 086 | Playing God
An almost unfathomable situation is currently unfolding in Texas where Dr. Anne Georgulas, the mother of 7-year old James Younger, a biological male, is engaged in a legal battle with the boy’s father, Jeffrey Younger, over whether Georgulas has the right to subject James to “transition” James to a girl against the wishes of his father. The potential ramifications of this case, regardless of the outcome, are not only legal or sociological but theological. Listen as Darrell and Virgil (Omaha) discuss this situation through the lens of the objective truth of the Word of God.

EP # 084 | When Forgiveness Isn’t Woke Enough
Amber Guyer, a 31-year old white female and former Dallas, Texas police officer, was recently convicted of murder in the shooting death of 26-year old Botham Jean, a black man. Guyer was subsequently sentenced to ten years in prison. During the penalty phase of Guyer’s trial, Botham Jean’s younger brother, Brandt, shocked the courtroom–and the world–by verbally forgiving Guyer and hugging her (to the tears of many in the courtroom.) But for many people, including some who profess to be Christian, Brandt Jean’s offer of forgiveness was not a gesture to be lauded or applauded. Listen as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil Walker) discuss some of the reasons why Jean’s offer of forgiveness wasn’t “woke” enough for some professing Christians.

EP # 083 | Black Athletes and White Colleges
Is it time for Black Athletes to Leave White Colleges? According to American Sports Journalist Jemele Hill, the answer to this question is, “YES!” However, this seems to be another form of tribalist separation that has nothing to do with the best interest of the Black Athlete. Hill has written on the subject and makes her case. However, in this episode, Virgil “Omaha” examines that Hill’s case to determine if there’s any merit to her argument.

EP # 082 | A Socialist Savior
Was Jesus a socialist? Does the Bible support socialism? Some professing evangelical Christians seem to think so. Barber, II.

EP # 081 | Black Nationalism, White Fatherlessness
In this episode Virgil “Omaha” Walker discusses one of the biggest threats to the so-called “black community” and it is not “White Nationalism.” Virgil walks through the idea that the internal threat impacting the “black community” is Black Nationalism packaged with all kinds of immoral behavior, seemingly ignored, often overlooked, and at times rewarded on the basis of historic racism in America. Listen as he unpacks this idea in this episode of Just Thinking.
