Buttercup on Melancholy Hill

Buttercup on Melancholy Hill

By Vee

Poetry, quotes, stories, etc., I love it all. My name is Vee, and this podcast focuses on the beauty and structure of words. If it’s worth hearing in the ear, resonates in the heart and contemplates in the mind, then I would love to talk about it!

I would love to be introduced to even more! So if you want to share any, please do and I’ll be sure to talk about it! Thank you!

The inevitable

The inevitable

Death is an art few can transform
life is a play all must play their role. In today’s episode, think of Death as a peaceful presence. Something we cannot understand but something that we cannot avoid. Why do we want to understand such an entity?

Discussion: Oroonoko—love it or hate it. Ft. Molly

Discussion: Oroonoko—love it or hate it. Ft. Molly

The bane of my literary existence! Oroonoko: The Royal Slave is a story about an African Prince who is tricked into slavery and taken to the Americas. His European features earned him a rank above the rest as a slave only in name. However, is the book a praise of African bravery, a mockery of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, or a mirror of the author’s true feelings ? This episode was done with my best friend, Molly, as my co-host. Thank you!

A woman’s mind is very complex, especially in the 19th century. On this episode, we explore how postpartum depression is treated and left untreated in one woman’s slow decline. And it all beings with an ugly yellow wallpaper. Charlotte Perkins Gilman “The Yellow Wallpaper”

What does a tale of stellar advertisement by strange creatures in the night have to do with the purity of women? Quite a lot! Find out in this episode of our literary dove when we explore the entertaining and seductive narrative poem titled “Goblin Market” by Christina Rossetti.

The easiest and most fun part of writing poetry is to finding a beat to move your poem. I trapping enjoy rhyming because it can really make your poem flow so easily and make it even more enjoyable for your reader. It’s only natural that I dedicate an episode to this device.

I read Michelle Obama’s book

I read Michelle Obama’s book

*SPOILER* (just in case) this is my thoughts about Mrs. Obama’s memoir. I loved the book, I took notes, and I think we can all learn something very valuable about what it means to ‘become’ and to continue on the journey or becoming because it is never over. Imperfect and constant, we invent ourselves and learn.

In a society: same-sex relationship

I’m touching (barely) on societal issues, and adding some literary works that correspond with the topic. Love is love in this episode....unless you’re into minors or take advantage of vulnerable people. Get Help for that one

A Mother's Love

A Mother's Love

Happy Mother's Day

To the ones who matter most

whose sacrifices are silent and ignored

but who hold the loudest voices in their hearts

A mother's love

forever unconditional

Unappreciated

Unwavering
