Bree graduated from Queens University of Charlotte in 2013 with a Bachelor Degree in Studio Art and Creative Writing. She resides near uptown Charlotte where she works as a painter, illustrator and muralist. Currently, she teaches adults and children intermediate and advanced drawing and painting techniques at her studio called the Learning Lab and is the Director of Artistic Experiences for Blumenthal Performing Arts.

JG has represented the city of Columbus three times at The National Poetry Slam, making it to the semifinals of the competition in 2013. John is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and currently serves as host and curator of The Ness Open Mic Experience poetry show in Columbus, Ohio.

Raised in South Central Los Angeles, he was exposed to a melting pot of different cultures, giving him a broad canvas for his work. Henry moved to Dallas in 2008 and has become a passionate poet who writes each line to watch it come alive through poetry. Apart from poetry, working with youth has been his crowning achievement. The Writer’s Garret, Big Thought, Wordspace, and Dallas Poetry Slam have all served as platforms for his teaching artist career. Henry likes to use visual, culinary, religious, and conceptual art to help express thought and emotion to further drive the creativity of youth. Carlos Robson Info:

Carlos Robson is a spoken word poet, playwright, and teaching artist. As a competitive “slam” poet, he’s has competed in local, regional, national and international competitions, winning the National Poetry Slam championship in 2007 and again in 2008 as a member of the North Carolina based team, SlamCharlotte. He has performed in all corners of the nation, on Broadway and internationally, and is a co-founder of the Charlotte based artist collective the Concrete Generation. Twice nominated for APCA Spoken Word Artist of the Year, Carlos has performed at over 100 colleges and universities. In 2009, Carlos co- wrote and appeared in the play “Miles & Coltrane: blue(.)” directed by Quentin Talley, which appeared off-Broadway and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Candy is one of the Lead instructors for the Literary Arts in the DFW School Districts. She recently created a teaching artist program for Dallas Poetry Slam that partners with youth organizations in the country. She made her national television debut as a featured poet on the 3rd season of TV One's NAACP award-nominated hit TV show, ‘Verses and Flow’. Over the years, iCon has shared stages with the likes of Sunni Patterson, Taalam Acey, Abiodun Oyewole (The Last Poets), jessica care moore, Amanda Diva, The Tony Rich Project, Dead Prez, Andra Day, and Kendrick Lamar. Christopher Massenburg, better known as Dasan Ahanu, is a public speaker, organizer, curator, educator, poet, spoken word artist, songwriter, and emcee, and loyal Hip Hop head born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is co-founder and managing director of Black Poetry Theatre, a Durham based theatre company that creates and produces original poetry and spoken word based productions. As an active participant in poetry slam, Dasan has competed regionally and nationally as a founding member and coach of Durham, NC’s own Bull City Slam Team. In 2010 and 2014, Ahanu led the Bull City Slam Team in winning the Southern Fried Southeastern Regional Poetry Slam, the largest regional poetry slam in the country. He also led the team to a 3rd place finish at the 2010 National Poetry Slam and a 2nd place finish in Group Piece Finals at the 2012 National Poetry Slam.
