Episode 34 - 2024 Mid-Year Reflection and Goals
Remember Episode 13 when Chrizz and Pree talked about how their 2023 was going in regards to goal-setting and manifestation?
No? It's no biggie.
2024 has come roaring through and it's probably safe to say that the goals and priorities of one year ago have drastically shifted in the present-day.
In this episode, the girls:
[x] Share what has happened to them so far in 2024, and if it is on par with what they wanted it to look like
[x] Keeping the momentum up for the rest of the year
[x] If a support system helps with achieving goals, or if people knowing about your goals hinders achievement
[x] The "art" of being selfish
It's important to check in with yourself from time-to-time, even if where you're currently headed is not what was planned. There's always time to shift gears, or even push on full steam ahead! Tune in for this reflective conversation!

Episode 33 - You Can Reuse Your Outfit Girl
Fast fashion is a serious problem, but can we really blame it all on the boomers for this one?
If you were an American adolescent growing up in the 2000s like Chrizz and Pree, you may remember Forever 21, H&M, and Zara beginning to make an appearance at the local mall (despite Abercrombie and Hollister still having us in a strong hold with their soft fleece branded hoodies...).
But what about Brandy Melville and the 2010s damaging effects of fast fashion? When did it get so much out of hand that Accra, Ghana and cities like it have to play clean-up for the Global North?
In this episode, the Pour the Coffee girls talk about:ā£
[š±] Their shopping habits and how they tend to drift towards minimalism
[š±] Highlights from the documentary "Brandy Hellville & the Cult of Fast Fashion"
[š±] Clothing swaps and other sustainable fashion ideas
"Just because it's not happening in your backyard doesn't mean it's not your problem"
Ooof. Wiser words have never been said. On this planet, everything ultimately affects us all.

Episode 32 - Friendships in Adulthood
Why is it SO DAMN HARD to make friends in adulthood?
We may not have the complete answer, but in this episode of Pour the Coffee, Pree and Chrizz certainly try to dive deep into the trenches that consist of forming friendships in adulthood.
In this episode, the girls discuss:
[x] Why itās easier to forms friendships in childhood vs. adulthood
[x] The challenges that come with interacting with people at different life stages
[x] Trials and tribulations with actively trying to make friends in adulthood
If you are struggling with finding your girl gang or your bro crew, itās not you, itās the state of the world and the unfortunate existence of todayās millennial. Vent with us!

Episode 31 - The Banter Episode
What happens when not the same olā two, but THREE best friends since childhood hang out to chat? Random, off-the-cuff conversation that may end up actually making sense!
Ā
Rekha, who has graced Pour the Coffee with her beautiful presence on podcast episodes many times before (mostly the writing eps, but check out Episode 12 if you havenāt yet, itās a good one!), came up with the idea for a ābanter episodeā---one in which we start off with a topic, and then flow into improvised conversation based on the immediate thoughts and ideas that pop into our heads.
Ā
Using a random word generator, Pree, Chrizz, and Rekha sit down to dive into the topics of weigh, sympathy, and food, but donāt worry, the conversation is definitely not limited to the literal definitions of those words.
It allows for some quite whimsical insights!
Ā
Itās a WTF experience that will have you LOLing. Join in on the banter with this fun and silly episode of Pour the Coffee!

Episode 30 - Locational Astrology with Katherine of Fox Hill Witch
Are some places better for us to live in than others? Does astrology have anything to do with it?
Whether astrology is something that woos you or you find āwoo-wooā, this episode is one you donāt want to miss!
Pree and Chrizz chat with Katherine of The Fox Hill Witch, a soul astrologer, hedge witch, Reiki healer and spiritual guide based in Estonia. As a multi-passionate witch, her astrological readings are infused with spirituality, energetics and psychology, following an eclectic mix of Modern, Hellenistic and Vedic astrology + the whole house system. She believes astrology to be a tool for understanding yourself and how you can best navigate the earthly life your soul has come to experience. She also strives to make astrology easily understandable, practical and relatable so that in the moments when you need guidance the most, you walk away feeling much clearer than before.
She offers readings through thefoxhillwitch.com and you can find her on Instagram, but in this episode, she breaks down locational astrology and help us understand it better with some examples---using Chrizz and Preeās very own birth charts!

Episode 29 - Help! I'm Going Through a Mid-Life Crisis!
Is it possible to have a mid-life crisis before or at 30?
If youāre a millennial, you betcha!
Pree and Chrizz sit down with fellow writer buddy and millennial also grappling with life, Kelsey, to discuss what a mid-life crisis looks like for the modern-day millennial woman trying to find her place in the world.
In this episode, Kelsey opens up about her experience working through multiple, unrelated jobs and the winding path she took before finding her stride in project management---before turning 30!
Pree and Chrizz also relate and reflect on their own āmid-life crisisā experiences.
If you think youāre too young to be going through something literally every woman your age is going through right now, donāt feel ashamed! Weāre all in the same boat and hashing it out---so grab your cup of coffee and do the same!

Episode 28 - Introverts Be Like
Yaāll, if you are a scorned introvert, we are here for you.
Navigating todayās society as an (introverted) millennial can be challenging. Given that open communication/understanding the different nuances in which people feel comfortable communicating was a foreign concept in the 90s/early 2000s, itās no surprise that those of us who are now introverted adults feel so unseen and misunderstood.
In this episode, Chrizz and Pree discuss what it means to be an extrovert, introvert, or even an ambivert, among other things related to the introvert sphere such as,
[x] If someone can be an extrovert or introvert depending on the situation and people involved
[x] How being an introvert can lead to unsolicited criticisms and prejudice
[x] How we can be more supportive of introverts as a society
If youāve ever been called ātoo quietā or have been asked to āspeak upā, this episode is for you.
Weāve got you.

Episode 27 - Secrets of the Food Industry: A Conversation with Priti of Koolfi Creamery
Have you ever wondered what it was like to own a successful eatery---be it a restaurant, coffee shop, or better yet, a storefront serving up one of humankindās most favorite desserts? Chrizz and Pree had the chance to churn it out with someone whoās mastered it in her own way---Priti, the mastermind behind the San Leandro-based, Indian-inspired ice cream shop, Koolfi Creamery! Priti had tons to share about her experience starting, growing, and maintaining the success of Koolfi Creamery, including: [X] How her background as an engineer and her Indian roots helped to inspire the Koolfi Creamery brand [X] Why she has succeeded as a small-owner, when that is not the case for many who venture out into the food business world [X] The hidden costs and burdens of owning a small business in the food industry [X] Her tips for anyone wanting to start their own creamery! For this episode, you may want to grab a scoop of ice cream to pair with that coffee (or, maybe grab a scoop of coffee ice cream?) to enjoy along with Pritiās sage wisdom! Your favorite millennial gal pal writers have assembled yet again---to talk plot. In another writing-focused episode, Chrizz and Pree are joined by Rekha (of course) to break down a pivotal concept in writing. Without plot, there really is nothing to read! In this episode, the girls break down: [x] What is plot [x] What plotting looks like across genres of writing [x] Whether plotting is a blessing or a curse for the amateur writer [x] Plotting methods and plotting book recommendations If you are a fellow writer or an aspiring author, this is one episode you DON'T want to MISS!

Episode 23 - Your Life, Not Theirs: A Conversation with Natasha Khawja
For the last Pour the Coffee episode of 2023 featuring a guest, Pree and Chrizz decided to invite one of the best voices out there on ābreaking barriersā---South Asian content creator and actress Natasha Khawja!
āNatasha Khawja was born in Texas, raised in Canada and Chicago, and now resides in Los Angeles. Along with her Pakistani ethnicity, her bi-cultural upbringing has allowed her to be relatable to people of various backgrounds. Acting did not sit well within Pakistani tradition, so opposition, even within her family, has met Natasha. Her closeness with her family has been affected by her decision to follow her dreams to Hollywood, but she feels that it was her calling. Although it is a sacrifice that hurts her, she knows that it is necessary to help the less fortunate and change the mindset of a new generation of Pakistani children that will contribute to the world.ā [from IMDB]
In this episode, the girls break down the following topics with Natasha!
[x] Life growing up as a Pakistani Canadian in the 90s/early
Ā
[x] What gave Natasha courage and strength during times when she had to face the unknown alone
Ā
[x] Why children of immigrant families face so much pressure
Ā
[x] What children of immigrants can do to not feel so guilty if they make decisions their families donāt agree with
Ā

Episode 21 - Surviving Emotionally as an American Abroad: A Conversation with Michelle Boles
Living abroad as an American sounds like a romantic notion, but we at Pour the Coffee know that thereās more to it than what we see on aesthetically-pleasing social media feeds and Eat, Pray, Love-esque movies.
Chrizz and Pree had the chance to sit down together (yes, Chrizz was live from Preeās couch in Austin for this one!) and chat with Michelle Boles: a military spouse, SAHM of two young children, and active YouTuber. Sheās traveled the world as a military spouse for almost a decade and has been stationed in Naples since the summer of 2021. Michelle started her YouTube channel as a way to keep herself occupied during periods of unemployment, and is not afraid to discuss the challenges that come with not only being an American abroad in Italy, but as a black woman as well.
In this episode, Michelle speaks on:
[x] What her day-to-day look like as an American SAHM raising kids in Italy
[x] The types of challenges she has faced with integration into Italian society
[x] How living in Italy is different from vacationing there
[x] Why race can be problematic when it comes to living in Europe/Italy compared to the US
[x] What needs to be done to allow people of different cultures and races to feel comfortable and welcomed in ātraditionalā places like Italy

Episode 15 - Pree in Italy: A Former Expat in Italy's Experience
When you think of Italy, what comes to mind?
Pizza? Pasta? Pesto?
How about anything not related to food, like, bureaucracy, difficulty assimilating, or living abroad as a woman in her late-20s essentially alone?
In todayās episode, Pree reflects on her time abroad as an expat in Italy. Rather than going for love or study abroad---as many of the women she met did---Pree went ālaterā in life. After finishing her PhD, she thought, why not try to live out a Lizzie McGuire fantasy while still staying in touch with her career.
And although she wishes she could be like the many individuals who boast about experiencing la dolce vita, Pree always keeps it honest and vulnerable on the pod!
In this episode, Pree and Chrizz talk about:
[x] What made Pree decide to go to Italy of all places
[x] Her daydreams compared to facing reality
[x] Why things felt tough/why she didnāt feel welcomed
[x] The pros and cons of life abroad as an American
[x] Becoming a ābetter Americanā after living abroad
[x] And much more juicy stuff!

Pree and Chrizz are joined by Rekha (yet again, lol!) to talk about inspirationā¦what is most likely THE biggest factor when it comes to creating a significant piece of literary work.
Okay, you can also be inspired to write clichƩ YA vampire love stories too, but in this episode, we dive into:

[x] Using emotions as inspiration to write
[x] Finding the energy and inspiration to write about and during challenging times
[x] What we recommend you should try the next time you have an āinspiration blockā!

Episode 13 - Mid-Year Manifestation and Goals Review
Can you believe we are already halfway through 2023?? In this episode, Pree and Chrizz chat about how 2023 is going so far, trying to achieve goals, manifestation (if youāre not one of āthose girlsā, you are probably thinking āwhat the heck?ā), and why goals can seem intimidating as a millennial adult. The girls ask each other if: [x] Itās reasonable to set goals at the beginning of the year, or to do it as you go? [x] Making and achieving goals is difficult as an adult. [x] Manifesting has been a good tool for trying to achieve goals. [x] A goal can not be achieved when you want, is it worth pursuing? [x] There are any tried-and-true strategies for goal-setting. [x] Either one of them have goals for this year, how itās been going, andā¦ [x]ā¦if there are any exciting goals for Pour the Coffee! Episode 12 - Take Care of Yourself
In Episode 9, we dove into our first topic related to mental health: anxiety. This topic resonated with Preeās sister, Rekha, who has joined us on previous Pour the Coffee episodes about job hunting and writing. In this episode, Rekha gets vulnerable as she shares her own mental health journey. One in which she had challenges growing up with anxiety, but has since found success and happiness with therapy and medication. Some of these details are new even to Pree, who grew up with her sister in the same household. It just comes to show that mental health struggles are indeed silent struggles, and open conversations about them, like youāll hear in this episode, are absolutely needed: In this episode, the girls discuss: [x] Our mental health history as sisters. [x] How life shaped us growing up. [x] Rekhaās journey with accepting therapy and medication to help her manage her mental health. [x] Preeās history with therapy and medication, and her contemplation of trying medication again after stopping years ago. Life is going to happen, what tools and tips can we implement to not let things out of our control get to us? Disclaimer: Please consult your physician for personalized medical advice. Episode 10 - Alone Not Lonely
Alone vs. Lonely
Is there a difference? If so, why are both often viewed negatively?
In this episode, Chrizz and Pree contemplate the conundrum and explore...
[x] ...why we are generally afraid of being alone, when we mean lonely.
[x] ...how alone time can be meaningful and even necessary for a healthy, balanced life.
[x] ...if we become more introverted/shy as adults compared to ourselves as children...
[x] ...and if this "pushes us" to a path of loneliness.
[x] ...the fact that doing things alone can be empowering, but it's totally normal to want to do things with others!
But at least YOU don't have to feel lonely, if you give this episode a listen!

Episode 9 - Anxiety
We pretty much start off all of our episodes saying we keep things raw and vulnerable, and this episode is no different.
Pree and Chrizz have been grappling with a LOT of anxiety lately, and as usual, it's a topic they figured everyone could relate to, so why not hash it out on the pod? In this episode, the girls discuss their thoughts onā¦
[x] What anxiety looks like for them. [x] How anxiety entered their lives and how they first became aware of it. [x] Why does anxiety paralyze and consume us? [x] Where their anxiety stems from. [x] Therapy and medication.

Episode 7 - Monnnneeeyyyy
Millennials and Monnnneeeyyyy. Chrizz and Pree are excited about this topic, which everyone seems to have an opinion on.
Is there a right way to handle money, or should everyone just leave our generation alone and let us sort it out?
Boomers did us dirty anyway, so know weāve got to deal with the real!
In this episodeā¦
[x] Pree shows her love for Gen X, and remarks how they are the last generation to go through lifeās stages in a ānormalā way.
[x] The girls recall their introductions to the concept of money as kids (remember allowances?)...
[x] ā¦and fondly remember days of garage sales, retail jobs, and learning how to save money (#Adulting). Ā
[x] Salary transparency is also brought up---why is this still taboo to discuss? For Pree itās not, sheāll gladly let you know whatās up, why the low-ballinā sucks, and why it needs to change.
[x] Pree claps back at her āmoney savinā judgesā, and shares why ordering food in/dining out can cost just as much as buying groceries and cooking at home!
And remember, file your taxes friends! H&R Block be cominā thru for us (not sponsored, haha)!

Episode 6 - Can't Shake Away V-Day
Valentineās Day is approaching, and in Chrizzās and Preeās book, itās a holiday associated with awkward cringe.
But the girls also agree that it can be what you make of it. You can celebrate it, you can despise it, you can celebrate it with another, or celebrate your bad-ass single self!
V-Day can be fun, but maybe itās not for everyone---and thatās definitely okay!
As Chrizz says, āitās just another Tuesday!ā
In this episode, your favorite millennial gal palsā¦
[x] Reflect on Valentineās Day memories as kids
[x] Discuss the commercialism of the holiday (as with any holiday nowadaysā¦)
[x] Bring up the fact that guys are overlooked on this day (why is it all about the woman?)
[x] Talk about that one time Pree fainted in front of her boss on V-Day
[x] Recall weird candies (Peeps, we lookinā at you!)
And of course, Pree doesnāt miss a chance to critique the ways of Italy, he he!
