24: Problem with Florida's Early Childhood Education System
Join me and my amazing friend, Andrea Terres, as we discuss the problem with Florida's Early Childhood Education System. Andrea used to be a preschool teacher in the state of Florida, has worked on early childhood social-emotional curriculum and media, is currently a community program coordinator in Tampa, Florida, and is the owner of Americana Creative Agency. At Americana Creative Agency Andrea provides creative services to small businesses that need a boost in the digital world. You can find her at www.americanacreativeagency.com. In this episode, we talk about Andrea's lived experience on the front lines as a preschool teacher and the systematic issues and barriers that employees and families face while trying to navigate early childhood education. A huge component of how we can create change is to remain culturally responsive and safe (terms used by Shayla S. Dube RCSW, MSW Mental Health Consultant @langadecolonialhealing), listen directly to teachers and families about the needs and accessibility of services instead of directors, universities, or non-profits, and lastly, show appreciation to your preschool teachers (i.e. PAY THEM LIVEABLE WAGES!!!).

You can also follow Delliah @thesocialworkjournal on insta!

Happy Black History Month! In this episode, I am celebrating the amazing Angela Davis a radical African American Woman, Educator, and Activist. In her book, Women, Culture, and Politics Angela speaks about the Empowerment of African American Women and what the fourth wave of feminism must include for the complete liberation of ALL women.
19: Problem with Compulsory Sexuality
Join me as I dive into the book ACE “What asexuality reveals about desire, society and the meaning of sex” by Angela Chen. Compulsory sexuality can be damaging to both aces and allos. I will be speaking today on how this book put sexual attraction and desire in perspective for me and how that ties into my sexuality and experiences as a queer woman.
18: Problem with Anger
The problem with anger is we do not really understand it! Anger is a secondary emotion meaning it has underlying feelings such as fear, stress, trauma, etc... beneath it. Join me as I discuss the importance of exploring anger, identifying triggers, and coping strategies to better work with it.
17: Problem with Therapy
Join me, a therapist, discuss the problems with therapy! Therapy is not accessible, it is hard to find a good therapist, and it is not for everyone. I do believe in the power of therapy but it is not the solution for everything.

15: Problem with Anxiety
14: Problem with the Texas Abortion Ban

11: Problem with Medical Racism
Join me as I dive into the problem with medical racism by reviewing the book "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot. This episode will cover the history of medical racism in America and Henrietta's story. Henrietta's cells were stolen and then made into a billion-dollar industry without her consent or her family's knowledge. Her story highlights the importance of telling the truth about racism in America and the lengths this country and the people in it will go to uphold white supremacy, perpetuate harm, and fail to be held accountable.
10: Problem with College
Join me as I dive into the problem with college. In this episode, I use responses from you all from the question on my Instagram story "what did you wish you knew before starting college?" If you are about to begin your college journey or are debating whether you should start this episode is for you!
9: Problem with Burnout
Join Catherine an LCSW therapist, podcaster, and entrepreneur, and me as we discuss the problems with burnout and ways to manage stress. In many fields, burnout is a huge problem so I am sure you can relate to being overworked, underpaid, and having a hard time with daily living. Having conversations around why burnout exists and how to overcome it on micro, mezzo, and macro levels is essential in the beginning steps of making change.
8: Problem with the Lack of Preparedness for End of Life Care, Aging, and COVID
Join Noni - Ife Taylor an MSW hospice social worker and me as we discuss the problems with the stigma surrounding end of life care, aging, and COVID. This stigma and fear of discussing end-of-life care, death, and dying leaves us unprepared and can cause stress for our loved ones. COVID has had a huge impact on the older adult population and because of our ageist society, they were deemed unworthy of care while younger generations were given priority. We also discuss the barriers to prepping for end-of-life and ways we can break them through education, awareness, advocacy, and policy.
7: Problem with the Climate Crisis
6: Problem with Treatment of Women in Prison
5: Problem with Privilege and Politics
Join Kathryn Casello an FSU College of Social Work alumni and current macro social worker in DC and me as we discuss the problems with privilege and politics.
