His story is so compelling as he grew up on a council estate in East London and dreamed of working in one of the skyscrapers in Canary Wharf which he could see from his bedroom window. With all the hurdles Emmanuel had to overcome, poor education, immigrant parents, low-income household, Emmanuel still managed to become the youngest qualified financial adviser in the country at Barclays at the tender age of 22. Talking to the riveting Jo Raghvani, she is a successful property developer who works on projects ranging from Simple refurbs to complex multi flat complexes with her latest deal which is a 42 unit commercial to rest conversion. I love speaking with every day women who are really taking things to the next level of property investing to motivate us out of our comfort zone. She is really engaging & bares it all giving clear insight into how she transitioned from her regular job into property development and IT WAS NOT EASY. However, with dedication, determination and a strong will she was able to build her business where she had built up a portfolio of buy to lets, HMOs and developments/conversions of commercial buildings into flats, primarily focusing on bringing empty and/or distressed houses and commercial buildings back to life. She’s a multi-disciplinary designer working within the architecture and interior design industry for the last six years in the hospitality and high-end residential sector. She has worked on hotels such as the Westin Marriot, Corinthia and Nobu. She’s also worked in the retail design sector on projects for H&M, Mulberry and Nike. Recently, she has started her practice Cocoz Design, merging her design disciplines, aiming to champion collaborative, inclusive and people-centred work, not just in the UK but internationally, starting with her home in Sierra Leone. I say property investing meets you where you are. I caught up with the lovely Jackie Stewart, we discussed our motivations for getting into property investing, going back to how we both bought our 1st properties, some of the potential difficulties when starting out and mistakes we have both encountered during our journey. We also covered some tips to think about when employing different property strategies. Her passion for teaching financial independence to youth through her company Funancial training really came through and her plans for the future were worth a good listen and of course we talked about kids and our experiences during the Lockdown.
