The intelligent midfielder has played nearly 100 games in Portugal across all competitions despite being just 23 years of age.

Well, where do we start with this one?! Euro 2004. The biggest party in European football arrived in Portugal. Dubbed the best organised football tournament ever, it was over a month of pain, joy, anxiety, jubilation and despair, all taking place in the most beautiful country in the world.
Portugal's opening day defeat, Ricardo's heroics vs England, Nuno Gomes with a quiet word in the ear of Carlos Puyol, Cristiano's tears and everything in between.

Os Arquivos - Euro 2000
We jump back to Euro 2000. The pinnacle of the Golden Generation. After a preview of just how good the Seleção could be in 1996, Euro 2000 saw many of the 1989 and 1991 U20 World Cup squads at their peak and the top of world football. Rui Costa, Luís Figo, Vítor Baia, Paulo Sousa, João Pinto and a young striker named Nuno Gomes, just some of the names that were at the tournament hoping to prove that Portugal was a country to be taken seriously on the big stage.
Often reported as the greatest international tournament in the history of football, Euro 2000 is a tournament that captivated the world for its entertaining football, dramatic storylines and the vast array of talent on display.
This podcast is worth it for the Portugal 3-2 England analysis alone!

Os Arquivos - Euro 1996
Portugal are BACK in the Euros after a TWELVE YEAR absence!
Jump back in time to 1996 for Episode 2 of Os Arquivos.
Aaron and Filipe discuss Euro 96, hosted in England. This tournament saw Portugal return to England, the place they lost in the 1966 World Cup finals. Euro 96 saw the emergence of Portugal's Golden Generation, with many of this young squad being part of the squads that won the 1989 and 1991 World Youth Championships.
Although it wasn't until Euro 2000 that this crop was in their prime, 96 gave us an insight into what was to come, with Ruud Gullit famously describing A Seleção's identity as Sexy Football!
