Powada - Afzal Khan Ka Vadh
Powada is a traditional Marathi Ballad that celebrates deeds of popular figures and Leaders like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Tanaji Malusare, Baji Prabhu Deshpande. It is a dramatic narration in by alternatively reciting poetic and prosaic extracts to inspire people.
They are also written to raise awareness on socio political issues and has history of more than 700 years

Attack on Shahista Khan - The First Indian Surgical Strike
Aurangzeb decided to send one of his most able ministers- Shahista Khan to defeat Shivaji. Khan with a huge army of about a lakh soldiers, quickly seized Pune in January 1660. He destroyed many temples in and around Pune. He also captured the forts of Chakan, Kalyan and Konkan after heavy fighting with the Marathas. Shahista Khan had taken residence at Lal Mahal, Shivaji’s childhood home. This irked Shivaji like anything. Shahista Khan brutally ruled the region for more than 3 years while Shivaji patiently waited for the right opportunity. On 5th April 1663, the destiny presented one such golden opportunity to Shivaji. One of Shivaji’s spies in Khan’s army had obtained permission for a marriage procession to enter Pune. Shivaji and around 400 of his men entered Pune disguised as bridegroom’s procession members while others entered into small parties dressed as laborers and soldiers working under Khan. At midnight, the whole city was dark with light only at places where soldiers were stationed. Shivaji, who grew up in Laal Mahal, knew every nook and corner of the palace. With his forces quickly entered the palace by making a hole in the kitchen and on entering swiftly slayed the cooks. They then began to dig a hole in Khan’s bedroom, quickly but quietly. However, the noise awoke the maid-servants who quickly awoke Shahista Khan. Khan was unprepared for this sudden attack and on seeing Shivaji in his room tried to escape through the window. However, Shivaji was successful in cutting his forefingers with his sword before he could escape. Though Shahista Khan escaped, his son, Abdul Fatih Khan along with forty attendants were killed. Taking advantage of the confusion, Shivaji and his army fled Pune. Selected troops hidden outside Pune attracted the Mughal army with torches while Shivaji managed to escape to Singhgad via a different route. Shivaji’s night raid on Shahista Khan was probably one of the daredevil acts in medieval history, arguably the First Surgical Strike of India. Escape From Agra
One of the most exciting episodes in the life of Shivaji was his Escape from Agra where Aurangzeb had kept him prisoner. This episode gives an account of that Dramatic Escape.
SHIVAJI, the leader of the Marathas, was at war with the Mughals. Enraged by many defeats, which Shivaji had inflicted on his forces, the Emperor Aurangzeb decided to crush once for all his growing power in the Deccan. He sent against him a large army under two his ablest commanders, Jai Singh, the Raja of Jaipur and Diler Khan, a Mughal nobleman.
The emperor’s soldiers met with immediate successes in this campaign. They captured fort after fort and laid siege to Purandar, where the Maratha put up a long and gallant resistance. At last, Shivaji thought it was wise to agree to the terms of peace. He was forced to surrender most of his forts and was allowed to retain only a few for himself on condition of service and loyalty to the empire. It was also proposed that he should visit the imperial court at Agra. Shivaji hesitated in the beginning, but finally yielded to the persuasion of jai Singh, who gave him solemn promises about his personal safety in the court of Aurangzeb. He proceeded to Agra with his son Sambhaji and a band of some followers, however he was tricked and prisoned.

The Battle of Paavan Khind
The Battle of Pavan Khind
The battle of Paavan Khind is very similar to war where 300 Spartan fought against thousand of Persians.
Baji Prabhu Deshpande and his men blocked the Sultan Adil Shah's army chasing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Paavan Khind mountain pass.
The battle was completely unmatched, the ratio of strength is 1:50, with one side army of 15,000, well prepared heavily armored infantry and other side 300 Shivaji’s light infantry.
300 Mavala's of Shivaji led by Baji Prabhu killed 5000 of Adil Shah's Army and 8000 were deadly injured.
