We are pleased to introduce our guest today. This should be no stranger to anyone listening from our Regina Catholic School family. Mr. Sean Chase is our newest Director of Education in Regina Catholic. Sean took a short break from our RCSD family to be the Director of Education in Moose Jaw’s Holy Trinity School Division, but he just could not stay away! Prior to leaving, Sean filled many roles throughout his years with Regina Catholic. He was a student, teacher, administrator, and super intendant for many years. His knowledge and experience bring many exciting possibilities for our growing school division. We are so excited to get to chat with Sean and get to know him a little more! Welcome!

RCSDPODPD Summer PD ft Dr. Mike Ribble
We are all very excited to welcome today author and educator, Dr. Mike Ribble. Dr. Mike has authored several books, two of which are titled “Digital Citizenship in Schools” and “Raising a Digital Child”. If you were to search him on Twitter, his handle is actually @digcitizen and his website, digitalcitizenship.net provides great information surrounding digital citizenship for parents and educators. We are beyond thrilled to chat with Dr. Mike today and gain more insight into how we can instill positive digital citizenship with all our students.
RCSDPODPD Summer PD ft Dr. Alec Couros
Welcome, everyone! We are very excited to welcome our guest today. Some of you may know this individual or have perhaps have taken a class or two with him while at the University of Regina. Today, I have the privilege to introduce you to Alec Couros. Alec specializes in digital learning and digital citizenship. He is quite active on Twitter and many other social media platforms and often advocates for the positive aspects of digital learning in our 21st-century classrooms. I have had the pleasure of taking classes with Alec and teaching a few of his children. He is always open to sharing his ideas and encouraging teachers to every opportunity to enhance student learning experiences by engaging in digital learning.
RCSDPODPD Summer PD ft Jennifer Casa-Todd
We are so excited to welcome today someone who should be no stranger to our RCSD Connected Educator family, Jennifer Casa Todd. Primarily known to us for her amazing books “Social Leadia” and “Raising Digital Leaders”, Jennifer encourages us to model and encourage appropriate social media use within our classrooms. Jennifer’s books showcase several examples of amazing things students have been able to accomplish through their activism and involvement on social media. She also encourages us as 21stcentury educators to be active and present in social media to help connect to other classrooms and allow our students to experience meaningful opportunities from these networks.
#RCSDPODPD - Episode 10 Building Thinking Classrooms w/ Kyle Webb and Maegan Giroux
We are so excited to welcome two of our very own math gurus from Regina Catholic Schools today. We are pleased to introduce both Kyle Webb and Maegan Giroux to all of our listeners. Kyle and Maegan are part of our Math and Science department within our division. Kyle is our Math and Science consultant, whereas Maegan is a math coach. Maegan has been visiting schools supporting integrating effective math teaching practices into elementary classroom settings. Both Maegan and Kyle have also been leading a book club with many Regina Catholic School teachers based on Dr. Peter Liljedahl’s book “Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics”.
#RCSDPODPD - Episode 9 Pivoting w/ Melissa Comte
Melissa Comte has been a teacher with Regina Catholic Schools for the past 7 years. In that time, she has primarily taught grades 1 & 2 at St. Dominic Savio School. She has been in the connected educator program for the past 2 years. In that time, she has worked to have students build digital citizenship and build 21st century skills. Melissa has taken part in the SaskCode program and brought coding mice into her classroom, along with built student independence in using various apps, like Seesaw. This year Melissa has also had to pivot mid-year to home-learning due to a case of COVID-19 in her classroom. This brought about some interesting experiences as she had very little time to prepare!

In this episode, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Kelly Christopherson. Many of you may already know our guest because of his active Twitter chat called #SaskEdChat, which takes place on Thursday evenings at 8 PM CST. He is currently teaching within Regina Catholic School as a dedicated online teacher. He is married with 8 children and has recently completed his PhD at the U of R focusing on EdTech, specifically social media for teacher professional development. This year many teachers in various divisions have taken on the role of teaching online full-time. Many of us have experienced small stints of online teaching but creating and managing a full-time learning environment is a whole different story.

Today we are pleased to welcome Suzanne Louttit. She is currently a grade 6 teacher at Sacred Heart Community school. She has been a connected ed teacher for several years and in that time, she has pushed the boundaries of what many people would expect a classroom to look and feel like. Browsing through her Twitter feed I am amazed at how connected her class is with not only the community, but the world, even during our current isolation period. We are very excited to spotlight some of what Suzanne is doing with all of our listeners today!
