Reduction Raider breaks bread with Lily Pearson Food Waste Heroes Account Manager at Olio.
Working for OLIO, a platform that connects neighbours and local businesses to share more and waste less, Lily loves food but hates waste & has a huge interest in the impact of food waste on the environment. Originally from Devon, where she found her love for scuba diving, sea swimming and anything ocean related, she was brought up vegetarian and went vegan at university. She here focused on how meat and dairy consumers use the power of distance to disassociate their actions from the wider ethical consequences in her undergrad, before exploring how food is used as a catalyst of care during the global pandemic in her postgrad. On university holidays, Lily worked in the food industry and independently set up a mini and unofficial food waste system, in which she redistributed the surplus food to the local homeless.

She became a certified teacher in 2004, and has focused her teaching energies here ever since. Her career has allowed her to travel and teach across the globe, including fun places like NYC and London (where she met your marvelous podcast host), but has now rooted down in the WNC mountains with her talented chef-husband and fantastically animated kiddos. With COVID shifting the workout world, she has moved her teaching business online, but is all the better for it; as now, she is able to teach committed students from all corners of the world together via Zoom.
Aside from Pilates, Ayurvedic studies and practices have greatly influenced her personal health journey, and she believes the greatest thing you can do for your welfare is listen and honor your body’s ever-changing needs. And she is not quiet about this belief! Chances are, if you attend one of her classes, you will no doubt receive her most favorite advice: “Listen to your body more than me, please.” 😊
When Elaine is not busy playing with her young kiddos or teaching Pilates, you can find her writing, hiking, eating, or – and most importantly – attempting to sneak in rare sans-kiddo moments with her brilliant-but-also-busy husband, Adam.
And for the record, she hates writing personal profiles, but loves to shoot the breeze with good friends. So, be sure to listen to this episode to discover how she is reducing food waste, taking sustainable steps, her real deal via candid dialogue, with one of her most cherished and greatest best friends.

Reduction Raider breaks bread with Chantelle aka I Lost My Tempeh
Hi, my name is Chantelle, and I began my vegan lifestyle back in February 2016 and found the transition from being a short-term vegetarian to vegan, pretty straightforward
Both sides of my family were restauranteurs and my dad was French-trained chef, so growing up, I was always surrounded by fantastic food, so veganising dishes that were familiar to me was not only enjoyable but also easy — I had support from my whole family, which was a huge advantage and they soon too became vegan
I started my own vegan catering business and tried to introduce vegan food to a wider community.
Fast forward to 2018, and I landed my dream job at a vegan publisher as the recipe creator for their magazines
Three years on, I’ve started my own YouTube channel called Meet and Eat.
I post my vegan food creations on here, on my channel and on Instagram, in a bid to show everyone how EASY being vegan really is. Tune in to hear how Chantelle is reducing food waste and flying the flag for veganism and sustainability. Instagram: @i_lost_my_tempeh
