Once you start tracking time, you'll quickly realize that about 75-90% of the time we spend on our phones and about 25-60%+ of the time we spend on our computers is totally wasted time spent mainly on social media, reading the news, games and other time-wasters, but really, let's be honest, it's really just social media that is the main problem.

Just be yourselves, and the rest will follow. When you realize the power behind this expression, you will rediscover the power you have in you. We’ve all been in that place in our lives. The place where we hide and lie to ourselves. The pressure of being successful comes mostly from social media. Every day we spend our lives scrolling up and down, watching other people’s videos, IG stories, posts, and we ask ourselves, ‘Why don’t I live like that?’ or ‘What’s wrong with me’?

As any entrepreneur will tell you, failure is a part of the business. Whether it’s a missed sale opportunity or an unexpected bank charge, there’s always something that goes wrong.

Sometimes, however, there are moments when failure becomes a major setback. You might be a freelancer who lost a major long-time client or a business owner whose reputation gets damaged because of a comment on social media.

The Beginner’s Guide to Owning a Fully Remote (Tax - Competitive) Business in Estonia | Podcast Article

This is a podcast article that summarizes what I learned from a fellow remotepreneur that was a guest on the show!

For many entrepreneurs, the costs and bureaucratic nightmare that comes 2ith starting a business can be a hassle that challenges even the most optimistic entrepreneur. In many countries, starting a business requires filling out a bunch of forms, paying more taxes, and long wait times as things get approved.

Imagine if you were in a country where this process was as simple as filling an online form and a few clicks. Picture yourself paying a small fee to start a business, paying a flat tax no matter how big your profits are, and could handle your taxes for the entire year right from the bathroom (if you wanted to)?

Welcome to Estonia.

Estonia is a country with a very unique program that could be attractive to digital nomads and remotepreneurs. It’s also one of the most revolutionary ideas that the modern world has ever seen.

Ep 51: How to Pivot from One Business to Another with Jesse Hanley

Ep 51: How to Pivot from One Business to Another with Jesse Hanley

Jesse had the pleasure of working on all levels of the advertising stack, from scaling large in-house SEO teams for both clients, and his own web properties, to personally overseeing the deployment of millions per month in paid ad spend (both in online DTC, international distribution and physical retail).

Remotepreneur Insights

  • Always Say ‘Yes’– In the beginning of growing your agency or company, you might need to hustle and take on as many deals as you can until you earn the privilege to turn clients away.
  • Save Money – Once you start growing your companies you might need to hire teams of people to handle the work. You have to pay those people for their services. That’s why it’s important to save up.
  • Keep it Simple – Stay true to your niche. If you want to do graphic design, do only that. If you want to do SEO, just stick to SEO. Don’t stray off because you might end up torn apart by all sides.

Quotes

“I ended up picking up from my personal network from people that I knew to do kind of growth work on it. I didn’t know what I was doing. I just needed to make money really fast to pay for the hotels I was staying at.”

“I put a job offer for someone to help me with my agency. At the time, I just wanted somebody to help with content writing. I just needed some more content . I didn’t want to pay some one off services. So, I did that and it kicked off and did really well.”

“I ended up making the company a lot smaller. I found employees that I let go. Letting people go for me was a sign of defeat. I didn’t want to let my team down. So, I made sure everyone had new jobs and prospects to go to that paid the same amount of money, more often with previous clients. I let clients that consume a lot of time go. I kinda started all over again, this new model of hiring writers, look for more firms and managing them.”

“I think in the early days there is a lot of accepting deals that are potentially toxic because you need the money. It’s not until you got some cash in the bank, things are smooth that you’re comfortable to say no. There are so many people that are on a podcast, Youtube and stuff that are it’s ok to say no. When you’re not making money and you’re broke, you kinda have to say yes to everything. “

“The agency, for a lot of things, was like my own venture capital firm. I was like ‘Can I please have some money?’ and they would give me money. I would deploy it in terms of developing marketing or engineering resources. I take money from the agency and put it into my passion.”

“First, save money. Make sure you have some cash because if you’re going to employ anyone, have the responsibility to back them when stuff doesn’t go your way. So, If you have to let employees go, you need to cover that.”

“When you go from consulting to an agency, keep it simple. Do it well, keep it simple. Be the best in your class or category, whatever that is. I just do SEO and I’m the best at it. I just do link building and I’m the best at it.”

Ep 50: Implementing a Simple Remote HR System with Tom Libelt

Tom Libelt is the founder of Smart Brand Marketing.  His entrepreneurial journey went through the marketing world from SEO to publishing thousands of Kindle books and he finally landed onto creating online courses that sell.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Figure out What you Want to Do – There are different types of business. That’s why before you start a remote business, you need to find a direction and what you’re going to do.
  • Develop a System – Create a manual or a list of instructions that will help new upcoming employees through the onboarding pipeline without your help.
  • Let Your Team Build the Company’s Culture – Give your team members a voice in saying how things can run in the business. That way they create their own rules that they need to follow instead of your rules.

Key Podcast Milestones

03:43 – Tom’s early hustling years

08:11 – Is socialism coming to the US?

21:30 – What are the first steps towards building a remote business and team?

33:47 – How to remove yourself from fulfillment?

43:33 – Golden nuggets of HR

47:07 – How long is Tom’s hiring process

48:20 – Rewards for remote employees

56:19 – How does Tom calculate expenses and profits

Top Key Quotes

“The first thing you need to do is what kind of a business you want to run. That’s the main thing because you can run all types of businesses. You can have an online information business, you can have a service business or just a coaching business. There are a lot of different things you can do. As a business owner, you have to figure out what it is that you’re going to do.”

“I always think about the McDonald's model. If you go to McDonalds, they have systems set up in such a way where they can take any idiot off the street, show them the system and let them do the task. That’s beautiful and that’s the best thing you can hope for.”

“Now with every employee, what do you do? Let’s get you into the system. If you’re a graphic designer, I want all the templates, Photoshop files so that I can just bring someone in and continue to work if you’re not necessary. Remote work takes the power away from the employee.”

“You bring the new employee in fresh from the street. The first one is going to be the worst. You only want to do this with the new person because the old one is going to push back. If you have someone currently they are going to push hard. The way we fulfill is usually similar. If you have custom fulfillment you’re going to be screwed a lot. You need to productize as much as possible. Each one can be fairly productized. As you go through the operations, their job is to fold. One is to actually do the fulfillment, which initially you’re going to teach them. Their second job is taking everything you’re teaching them write it down in a system process. Essentially, you have steps to fulfillment.”

“The second thing I’ve had done is I had the team create the rules of the company, themselves without me. They define the culture of the company. What kind of company are we going to be based on how they were interacting? The type of things we are not going to tolerate, etc.”

Ep 49: Making Millions $ With Freelancing On Fiverr with Vasily Kichigin

Vasily Kichigin is one individual that has made a name for himself as a professional freelancer, an amazing and remarkable feat, considering his background as a professional tennis player.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Opt for a Fast Service – If you chose a remote career on Fiverr, go for a service that you can do quickly. That way you will go through more orders in less time.
  • Build Your Personal Brand – If you’re planning to scale your Fiverr career, you should develop your own voice in a personal brand that will be a representation of your best work and services.
  • Focus on Customer Experience – No matter what you’re selling, there will be always customers that might have some questions or complaints about your service. Always do follow-ups, check-ins, replies etc. You have to ensure the customer and that you care.

Key Podcast Milestones

04:20 – Why Vasily chose freelancing

07:47 – Vasily’s start on Fiverr

21:50 – How Vasily managed to freelance 0-30 orders per day on Fiverr

33:30 – The moment when Vasily rang the bell on the Stock Exchange

45:00 – What happened when everything collapsed

57:12 – Vasily’s podcast

01:04 – Questions from Vasily’s Instagram live

Top Key Quotes

“It’s important to know if you go on Fiverr or Upwork, you have to offer something that you could do fast. If it’s going to take you ages, then it’s going to go slow and you have to be patient. So, you have to find something you can do fast.”

“It’s important to get out of the comfort zone if you’re going to be building a freelancing career. So, you have to work on your personal brand. It’s not required, but your personal brand is going to scale your freelancing career.”

“You have to trust in people. If you don’t trust people, you can’t build a team. So, you have to take a risk but you have to be careful when you’re building a team.  Maybe you’re outsourcing some tasks without giving access to your Fiverr account at the beginning just to build trust.”

“I think why it worked out for me is because I was going for customer experience, this is the most important. So, over-deliver, make sure the customer is happy, fast replies and obviously solve the problems.”

“When someone orders a gig, you can actually use YouTube. So, create a shortcut to a YouTube video and then you can send it to clients right away as soon as he orders. That way the client is going to ask you less questions and they will use a FAQ where you can create those video messages.”

“You can do multiple things very good. You have to pick one or two things, depending on what you do.”

“Obviously in business and online space, you have short-term, which are working well, and long-term things. Long-term things, as we mentioned the podcast, for me the podcast would be long-term but it is, I’m still going to be back. But, right now, I’m focusing on writing a book. I actually started writing a book a year ago.”

Ep 48: Learn How To Sell On Amazon With Beau Carbill

Beau Crabill is an Amazon Seller & educator in the Amazon space.

He got started off on eBay at the age of 12 selling customized socks online. At age 15 he started with Amazon. Got suspended on amazon for doing business models that were allowed on eBay but not on Amazon. Went to Pepperdine for 5 days, left, and fast forward 7 months hit $1,000,000 in his business.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Spend Time Wisely – People spend a big portion of their day not being aware that what they’re investing is not getting their ROI. That’s why it’s important to even spend less time on things that are going to bring value.
  • Give Yourself Time – Test what you’re doing to see if it’s worth pursuing. Give yourself a long period of time even a year if you have to.
  • Self-reflect – Take some to realize what your long-term goals are. Running and building a business can be easier if you have goals to aspire to.

Key Podcast Milestones

03:48 – What inspired Beau to become an entrepreneur

06:02 – Beau’s first attempt at business

11:00 – Beau’s advice on keep on hustling even if you don’t get instant gratification

30:39 – Ways to sell on Amazon

35:32 – How to win the Amazon Buy Box

37:57 – How will COVID-19 change the Amazon business

Top Key Quotes

“If you look at people who are trying to start a business, everyone has 24h in a day but how much of those hours are wasted towards stuff that is not making you more money or getting to your goals?”

“I think people spend a lot of time thinking about themselves, what Is their long-term goal or the impact they are trying to make. Before starting it or before pursuing a lot of action, try to pick apart and see what could go wrong, not in a negative way but try to prove yourself that you’re not the smartest person in the room.”

“Give yourself a set period of time. Don’t let it be a month, give yourself six months or a year. Put your entire full focus on something you’re going to work on. If you come across problems, try to figure out is it because you’re not taking a lot of action because you’re not being smart enough or is it because you’re in the wrong business model.”

“People that are trying to run a business for a year, five or six years, I know a lot of people in network marketing for several years and are not making any money. I think a lot about self-reflection and at night I think about what are my long-term goals, what am I going to do tomorrow, what am I going to do next month or next four or five years. Give yourself enough time to think about long-term goals. If what you’re doing right now doesn’t fit for that long-term then you may need to reevaluate what you’re doing.”

“I actually don’t create my own brand on Amazon, I don’t dropship, I actually source from distributors. Think about Walmart or Target, big box stores or best buy, I practically do what they do. When you think of Best Buy, they sell thousands of thousands of products but they don’t own any of the brands. They source from the manufacturers, buy at a lower price and they sell retail at a higher price.”

Ep 47: Crafting Your Ideal life Through Remote Careers with Anthony Cofrancesco

Ep 47: Crafting Your Ideal life Through Remote Careers with Anthony Cofrancesco

Anthony Cofrancesco is a 23-year-old travel hacker and entrepreneur based in Manila, Philippines.  In his first year of travel hacking, Anthony leveraged frequent flyer programs and credit card sign-up bonuses to travel over $19,000 for free. 80+ times per year Anthony jumps onto a plane while sleeping over 100+ nights in hotels. Anthony’s goal is to see every country in the world before he turns 25.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Develop Your Skillset – Before you go on to venture into a new business, you need to find what you’re passionate about and develop your skillset.
  • Find the Right Company – The best way to have a successful remote career is to find the company you are passionate about and go for it.
  • Look at The Right Places – Due to the coronavirus, employers are seeking remote workers all across the globe. The Internet offers a large variety of websites you can find a job on.

Key Podcast Milestones

04:55 – How did Anthony’s story start

19:17 – What is PickFu?

22:25 – How does PickFu work

24:14 – How much does PickFu cost

26:19 – Should you start a business or work with another business?

29:51 – Anthony’s biggest struggle

33:19 – How to craft your ideal lifestyle

37:19 – Where to find a remote job

39:21 – Did the virus change the digital nomad world

44:22 – Where can you find Anthony

Top Key Quotes

“I thought that as time goes on this online business environment is not going to go away. Getting rapid feedback from when I build my own website and my own products before, I had million ideas on what might look good. Going with your gut can be a real dagger in your back sometimes. People are going to spend more money for assuring the direction that they want to go in, creative aspect or marketing strategy.”

“Nike is not sitting there with millions of units of inventory that just never sells. It might have to discount it 70%. They might need to discount it heavily through different liquidation methods. The reason why average e-commerce sellers might be stuck with a ton of inventory vs. a brand like Nike is that before Nike launches a product they know so incredibly well what the customer is looking for, from the price point to the packaging to all other different aspects of the brand.”

“Probably what makes the most sense is to work for someone else. Go find a remote job, something that gives you flexibility. Go and do it in a company that you’re passionate about.”

“Getting a remote job is actually very easy especially if you have a real skill set coming from a previous job. What they don’t seem to understand is that you’re going to take a large pay cut in doing it, but it’s also pros and cons. When I walked from my job at Amazon, starting pay at VirtualGraphics was $2000 US a month. But, living in Manila it’s more than you need.”

“Getting a remote job is very simple and very easy. It’s just about looking at the right places, looking at remote jobs and pitching yourself in the right way.”

“The biggest thing to consider when you’re applying for a remote job is the barrier the employer is going to have when they hire you. They want to make sure if you want to do this lifestyle, you need to keep in mind that this is a bit different than a normal job and it’s going to require a discipline. So, what I would say is when you do find that job is make sure you have answers and questions that they want to ask.”

Ep 46: Why Start Your Dropship Business Post COVID-19 with Yakir Starosta

Ep 46: Why Start Your Dropship Business Post COVID-19 with Yakir Starosta

The virus shook the retail business and a lot of businesses are turning towards the e-commerce business. Be one of the first people that started their own dropshipping business during the COVID-19 crisis. To give us the full report on the current e-commerce waters is Yakir Starosta, a fellow remotepreneur and e-commerce expert who is currently running his dropshipping business from Bali.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Set Up a Shopify Account – Yakir explains why Shopify is one of the best platforms for starting your e-commerce business and tells us what kind of features the platform offers.
  • Don’t Reinvent the Wheel – The best way to find what’s really working is to dabble into your competition’s websites and groups. Go for something that it’s proven to work.
  • Get a Distributer – A major part of the e-commerce business is the distributor. Often times, 80% of the work relies in them because people are waiting for the product and home, which puts a lot of accent on how fast and efficient the distributor is.
  • Good Marketing – It’s needless to say that you need great marketing to get you in front of the competition.  Try running some ads to catch people’s attention but also make them trust you.

Key Podcast Milestones

06:20 – How e-commerce changed during the COVID-19 crisis

10:48 – How Yakir got into the e-commerce world

16:00 – What would be the first step to start a dropshipping business from home

23:30 – The second step of building your e-commerce business

29:16 – Importance of reviews in the e-commerce world

31:00 – How to get people to leave reviews

33:05 – Why would somebody close a successful store

37:33 – How much money do you need to automate your e-commerce business

45:36 – What would happen if Asian dropshipping businesses get penalized?

51:09 – The end goal of owning an e-commerce business

Top Key Quotes

“First, you need to understand that it’s not easy. It’s not as easy as taking $200 and turning into profit. That’s not really profitable these days. What I would really recommend is to think about it differently right now. To really think about where we are right now in the world and how consumer behavior is. Why and what kind of things would they buy?”

“The most common way of running dropshipping stores is using Shopify as a host. It’s a great platform to create websites. You don’t need to know any coding. There are built-in themes, where there are drag and drop. If you’re having a little bit of an issue, you can reach out to customer support. They have one of the best customer support there is.”

“Seeing dropshipping ads is one of the best ways to really learn and start gaining experience with what’s working and what isn’t. If you see an ad that has really good engagement, like millions of views, they are spending a lot of money on it, then there is no reason for them not to do it if they are not profitable.”

“The thing about dropshipping from AliExpress or China is that it’s mostly low-ticket items. By low-ticket, I mean between $30 - $60 USD. So, the main thing is to create an impulsive reaction in the customer and get him to buy on the spot. Most customers don’t buy on the spot but you retarget them with ads. The main thing is to create really good and engaging ads.”

Ep 45: How To Build Your Airbnb Empire Remotely with Saurav Arya

Ep 45: How To Build Your Airbnb Empire Remotely with Saurav Arya

We all dream about building a business that will run on its own and traveling world, seeing the wonders of the world. Sometimes we have this notion that the two can’t mix together.

Our guest today is here to prove the contrary. Saurav Arya is an IIT graduate who worked as a Vice President at MakeITDeals until he decided to take a gap year and follow his dream of traveling the world. He calls his journey, 'A Year Full Of Sundays'.

He managed to spread his AirBnb business through multiple locations all over the world. On top of that, he just became a dad so that’s one more role added to his list of accomplishments.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Reviews Can Make or Break – Arya says that the search engine on Airbnb is designed to catch reviews, the number of listings, the seniority level of your Airbnb business. So, spend some time to get those reviews up for better results.
  • Strike a Deal – Saurav says that he always chooses the profit-sharing model in cases where he is not sure about the market. To avoid putting risk on yourself don’t go for the yearly deal.
  • Hire Staff for Maintenance – Your AirBnb business needs to be ready for upcoming guests. To do that you need a staff that needs to be managed. The best choice is to hire managers and cleaning people locally.

Key Podcast Milestones

03:55 – Saurav’s background

07:45 – How Saurav got his first Airbnb property

12:11 – The profit after costs in Airbnb rental

14:33 – The downside of running an Airbnb business

19:15 – Everything you need to maintain your Airbnb business

30:13 – How does Saurav keep focused on work while he is traveling

34:22 – Saurav’s story about “Small World”

39:51 – How can you find Saurav

Top Key Quotes

“The search criteria on Airbnb is complex and it takes into account so many things. One of which is the profile of the host. How many reviews do you have? What are the types of reviews do you have? The number of listings. How senior are you in terms of hosting on Airbnb?”

“Depending on the geography and other factors that come into place, if you are venturing into a market you are not sure about the return and you don’t want to put the entire risk on yourself, then it’s better to go with the profit-sharing model. Telling the owner not to go for a yearly deal.”

“For different geographies, I have hired a manager who is supervising the housekeeping. I have to hire the housekeepers through an agency. In some cases, I have to hire them through references. They are aware of when they have to go. Also, sometimes the manager has to coordinate with them in case there is a requirement for housekeeping.”

“At times you might need to hire in person not remotely. Sometimes it helps to fix up a meeting. For example, if I have to hire someone in Bangalore and just have to have a face-to-face conversation, I can build more trust over hiring someone remotely. “

Ep 44: How To Transition Your Career To Upwork with Robert O'Kruk

Ep 44: How To Transition Your Career To Upwork with Robert O'Kruk

No matter what level you are on UpWork, you always need something you can improve. That’s why we invited Robert O’Kruk to help us out.

Robert O'Kruk is one of the leading educators and coaches for remote workers and digital nomads. He's been privately trained by Google in Canada and has been part of the Upwork Pro Sales & Marketing team as well as their Top Rated freelancer program.

He is the founder of the 12,000+ member remote worker community, the Digital Nomads Forum and is also the founder of the Mindful Nomads Retreat, a mindfulness and remote work lifestyle based educational program.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Optimizing Your UpWork Profile – Robert says that your profile on UpWork is your biggest weapon. That’s why it’s crucial to optimize it and polish it to maximize your chance in landing a job.
  • Apply Fast – Time is of the essence even on UpWork. You have to one of the first to apply for a job in order to give you a head start of the competition. Robert explains the importance of timing.
  • The Perfect Proposal – If your profile is your biggest weapon, the proposal should be your ammunition. Robert gives us some tips on crafting the perfect custom-tailored proposal to grab the client’s attention.

Key Podcast Milestones

05:00 – How Robert started working on Upwork

09:06 – Four key principles in getting a job on Upwork

10:36 – Principle #1

20:30 – Principle #2

28:10 – Principle #3

31:40 – Principle #4

38:32 – When to know the right time to close the job

47:24 – Where to find Robert and his coaching courses

55:45 – Should you start an agency on UpWork?

Top Key Quotes

“You have to realize that UpWork is not a computer or an algorithm that’s going to actually hire you. It’s a human. So, you need to learn how to craft your profile, interact with clients on UpWork in a way that’s optimized for the algorithm as well as the actual human and the business that’s going to hire you.”

“You can’t have good results on Upwork if you don’t have a good profile optimized for the algorithm and the human”

“People post an opportunity on Upwork. Then all the freelancers jump on it and usually 10 to 30 or so people who apply for each job. If you just kinda jump in there with everybody else, you're just in the pile, you have no control. The key to avoiding in being at the bottom is learning to be the first person to apply for the job. On Upwork they give you all sorts of tools to refine and narrow down the entire list of job opportunities they provide.”

“The key to a good proposal you have to do two things. The first thing is you have to be time-efficient. You have to send an epic proposal in 3-5 minutes. You have to send a minimum of 10 – 20 if you have no reviews. If you have a crappy profile you have to send some more.”

“The proposal has to be custom tailored. We have to remember the human will have to hire you. What do they want to see? They want to see someone who has read the description of their job and they replied in a custom way that acknowledges everything they need. “

“Ideally the proposal is inviting people to have a free 30-minute phone call. Free 30 minute phone call where you just talk with the client to talk if you guys are a good fit. Phone calls give you a higher chance to get hired.”

Ep 43: Using Linkedin As Sales Funnel with Michael Thompson

Ep 43: Using Linkedin As Sales Funnel with Michael Thompson

Michael Thompson is the LinkedIn Mastermind who managed to power through the big competition thanks to his elaborate profile optimizing and outreach messaging that is currently used by dozens of businesses. He's been running online businesses for almost a decade. 3 years ago he sold his business (customessay.com) for $500k and then started a new business, a book writing company for entrepreneurs, that turned into coaching.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

Don’t Rely too Much on The System-The system you want to implement might work because it worked for somebody else but it won’t be successful unless you hustle hard.

Set Up a LinkedIn Funnel- Michael says that the funnel you’re going to use will lead to an outcome. Always strive to guide your customer/listener to the action you want them to take.

Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile-Every section of your LinkedIn profile is important, the tagline, about me, and the experience section. Optimization is crucial when it comes to developing a successful LinkedIn profile. Before you do, you need to answer a few questions about what you are offering, Michael, reveals them on the podcast.

Key Podcast Milestones

02:14 – Michael’s background

10:15 – Why you should use Linkedin to grow your business

12:18 – Michael’s advice on creating a Linkedin strategy

21:55 – How to optimize your LinkedIn profile to get more views

26:07 – The next step after optimizing your LinkedIn profile

31:30 – How long would it take to manage your LinkedIn profile

32:51 – How does Michael help his clients?

34:39 – How can you find Michael?

35:35 – Whether you should do content on LinkedIn and how to do it?

Top Key Quotes

“You need to be able to do the work. If you want to hire Michael Jordan, as a responsible coach, should say to you ‘Now, look… You’re going to hire me but you’re not going to get result unless you work as hard as I do’. Doesn’t matter what course you buy, no matter what coach you hire, they are not a magic pill. You still have to take what you learn from them, implement the systems and put it into work.”

“When you are running any business, what you want to do is you want to implement a proven system. Whether it’s Michael Jordan, for example, you want to follow the systems he used. It’s important to model what you’re doing after somebody who has already done it.”

“If you are in the B2B space, if you have B2B product or service, that’s why you should be on LinkedIn as oppose to those other platforms. What you do there it’s up to you.”

“What you want to do on Linkedin is in two phases. No.1 is set it up like a funnel. The funnel leads to an outcome. It’s no matter what you’re doing, whether you have a store in the mall or you have a podcast, you want your listeners/customers to take action. If you have a LinkedIn account and someone is on it, what do you want them to do?”

“If you really want to get successful on LinkedIn, you have to put together a strategic outreach strategy that you can run and hustle.”

“The first thing you can really do is before you optimize your profile is you really need to think about what it is that you do. Depending on what you do, if you’re a business coach, ask yourself what kind of business coach are you? Who are the people that you help? What is the problem that you solve? What is the solution you offer?”

Ep 42: Nomads Giving Back To The World with Tarek Kholoussy

Tarek is a social entrepreneur with an MBA from NY University. He comes to the corporate world and worked with world-leading healthcare and financial services organizations such as Goldman Sachs in New York and London.

Throughout his journey, Tarek chased three big dreams to reach before his 40th birthday: to explore 100 countries to fuel his soul, run 25 marathons to challenge his body, and to create a social enterprise to expand his mind as well as his heart.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Find Your Inspiration – Inspiration can be used as a tool to give back and you should find yours in every shape and form. It’s important because inspiration can be addictive because of that it makes you become a better person.
  • Save Up – If you want to travel the world and countries in need you need money, not a lot of it but still, it comes with a cost. Tarek managed to go from spending a corporate salary to saving money in order to go backpacking and helping people in need.
  • Embrace Change – Change can be hard but it doesn’t have to be if you change your perspective. Start embracing change and see how changes can benefit you in a positive way.
  • Kill Your Comfort Zone – You can get too comfortable in the place you are right now. You won’t get far if you start doing things that even scare you in some instances. That’s why it’s important to move forward!

Key Podcast Milestones

03:20 – How Tarek became a digital nomad

07:32 – What made Tarek switch to a digital nomad lifestyle

15:09 – How Tarek planned his journey to digital entrepreneurship

18:14 – How Tarek fought the urge to spend and managed to save for backpacking

23:16 – What inspired Tarek to start giving back to the countries he visited

31:35 – Tarek’s thoughts on building a network with other charity groups

40:28 – How can you connect with Tarek’s social enterprise

Top Key Quotes

“When I started to realize that I wasn’t aligned with how I was living my life I decided to take care and cultivate that craving of change in two ways. One is – feed the inspiration with more inspiration. I decided to create my own little inspiration boot camp where I tended the TED talk remotely, I would watch the whole thing in real-time from my apartment on my flat screen. Then I made a list of books about how to become happy and how to make a difference in the world. I decided to filter out things that would normally discourage me. I would reduce the amount of time on people that weren’t so supportive of this kind of thing.”

“In terms of planning sustainability, I just saved up my money, invested it, and decided to reduce my spending drastically. “

“Change is hard, change is also fascinating. I feel like it’s a cliché saying but I couldn’t agree more that life happens outside your comfort zone. That’s where the growth happens. I really challenged myself in various ways.”

“I really believe that you need to inspire yourself first. But once you do and you start to help others then in turn that inspires you to be better”

26:00 – How does energy work

28:30 – Energy as medicine

“I get way better results as an entrepreneur thanks to my routines. In the entrepreneurial world, there is sometimes this perception that it’s cool to work very late, be always on your laptop… That’s not at all my vision. To me, if you do a lot of self-care, if you meditate, if you go to the gym, you just are going to operate way better”

“I started with meditation, eating healthy, exercising regularly… These are great things to start with. At the moment, I wake up, I just in an ice bath for 2 minutes. It makes you so present.”

“Watching the sunrise in the morning we get that red light, especially between 6 am and 8 am. That’s really good for mitochondria, which powers the energy of ourselves”

Ep 40:How To Build A Company That Will Run On Its Own with CEO of “Kenji ROI” Danny Carlson

Ep 40:How To Build A Company That Will Run On Its Own with CEO of “Kenji ROI” Danny Carlson

Danny Carlson is a guest on our podcast today to talk about the things that have been bothering you for quite some time now. He's a 27-year-old entrepreneur, podcaster, & lifestyle architect. His first business produced extreme downhill longboarding videos in 2014 & has since grown the Amazon FBA Agency “Kenji ROI” to more than 10 team members. Kenji ROI has served over 500 Amazon sellers & created photos, video, copywriting, & graphics for over 1240 listings. He's also a host of the Actualize Freedom Podcast & the Danny Carlson Podcast completing more than 60 interviews with names like Daniel DiPiazza, Steve Sims, Manny Coats, & Kevin King.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Never Stop Developing Your Product – Always have in mind that competitors are doing way more product research than you. Never stop improving your product and be one step ahead.
  • Lifting Your Company Up Requires Hustling – Especially in the beginning stages you have to use all of your powers to get your company out there. Whether it’s SEO, blog posts, websites, reaching out to people, you have to do try it all if you want to see results
  • Don’t Rush Implementing SOPs Right Away – Wait until you’ve tried your system and procedure at least five times until you install it permanently in your company.

Key Podcast Milestones

02:55 – Danny’s first steps to remote entrepreneurship

06:51 – Danny’s thoughts on Amazon products

08:15 – How did a near-death experience change Danny’s perspective

10:46 – How did Danny overcome problems in the first three months of starting a business

14:24 – The turning point where Danny removed himself from fulfillment

16:33 – When should you be starting to create the systems and processes

18:55 – How did Danny create and employed his team members

22:47 – The budget for hiring an operations manager

28:35 – Danny’s recommendation for improving communication between teams

36:48 – How Danny manages team meetings

38:48 – The next level for Kenji

Top Key Quotes

“If you just sit back on your profits and you’re extracting money, enjoying it, then those profits are going to dry up. Competitors come in, product life cycles and Amazon are fairly short unless you have a really unique product or a patent. So, if you’re not constantly doing product research, launch a new product, just doing things to maximize your current product, then it’s not doing to last”

“I would recommend hiring a dedicated, at least part-time / 20 hour, general virtual assistant. If you can afford it, you can get something like that $400 a month. Even if your profits are not much more than that, the ability to be able to focus on the things are going to generate more revenue for your business that is going to improve the system so that you can scale the business. Just the fact that you can focus on that, even if you keep your profits not that high above break-even, you are going to be building an asset for yourself that can then scale to a much larger company.”

“It’s really important to go through a process at least 5 times by yourself so you really understand the process. That way you’re going to know how the process itself can be improved or what part of the process doesn’t work.”

Ep 39 :Steps To An Effective Remote Management System with Mads Singers

Ep 39 :Steps To An Effective Remote Management System with Mads Singers

On today’s podcast we were honored to have Mads Singers as our guest speaker. A management whizz, who has worked with giants like Shell and Coca-Cola, has a new objective in his business journey and that’s coaching proper effective management. No matter what size your business is, you can build an amazing company with awesome people.

Mads says that the problem with managing your teams lies in your management model. Let’s break down the solutions for better management by reading below.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Work Less Do More – Mads says the problem sometimes with entrepreneurs is the amount of hours they put in. It doesn’t mean that you’re doing the right things if you’re working more hours.
  • Give Power to Your Teams – The best way to remove yourself from micromanaging big, even small, teams of people is to give them more responsibility and ownership. Mads gives his insight on his technique on managing remote teams.
  • Do Weekly Check-ins – Weekly check-in only with the person who reports to you directly is crucial when it comes to proper management.

Key Podcast Milestones

01:55 – Mads’ background

03:55 – Mads’ recommendation on finding the right staff

10:54 – The importance of giving ownership to employees

19:34 – Mads’ technique for best practices & processes

23:23 – Mads’ advice on handling complex processes

27:45 – How to let go of control and not to be afraid of other people handling your business

32:55 – Mads’ advice for delegation

34:49 – Tips on managing teams remotely

37:10 – What kind of service Mads’ outsourcing offers

41:19 – How can you find Mads’ company & his courses

Top Key Quotes

“Unfortunately, all these famous people, like Gary V, keep saying ‘Hustle, Hustle’. The thing is if you’re working on the right things, working a lot of hours make sense”

“A lot of people think that the VA is the solution for everything and it’s not. What I’m very conscious with, when you’re looking to hire staff, you really want to figure out what you need. Sometimes it makes more sense to hire someone from where you are locally, sometimes it makes sense to hire someone from a different country. Fundamentally, what you want to do is sit down and be clear on what your business and what needs to be done”

“The biggest problem most business owners have is that they delegate tasks, instead of delegating responsibility. The difference is significant. What happens is, when you delegate tasks, a task goes down to an employee, it comes right back up to you. You can definitely do more with your employees but end up working, instead of 40 hours, 50, 60, 70 hours to keep all of your employees busy and to actually approve or work with all the inputs they have. You have to give people ownership instead of a task.”

“Business is like a pyramid. In the beginning, it’s a tiny pyramid, only you. When it’s only you, average salary is what the company makes a month and the amount of hours you work. As your company grows, the more people you hire, the way you increase their value is increasing the value of your hours.”

“You should always do weekly 1 to 1 sessions with anyone who reports directly to you. What that basically entitles is 30 minute session when you sit down, every single week, with every employee who reports directly to you and you actually talk to them.”

Ep 37 : Staying Healthy During The Coronavirus Quarantine with Juodka Aurimas

For us, digital nomads, our homes are more than a place of comfort. They are a place of making our dreams come true and a place where we make a living. On the outside, people admire us taking our work wherever we go and having the comfort of working in your pajamas, but there is a darker tone to it. We spend our days slouching over our laptops for hours and hours ruining our health and mind.

Juodka Aurimas will be our guest health guru for today’s podcast. He is here to keep our backs straight but also straighten our digital nomad lifestyle. “First create a morning routine, create an evening routine, hydrating, getting some sun and avoiding screen time before bed. The moment you wake up, it’s already going to fix a lot of issues.”

“Mealtimes must be sacred. That’s one of the times when I’m not listening to a podcast, I’m not working, I’m not watching a YouTube video, I’m not texting, my phone is away. I’m sitting down and I’m actually connecting with my food.”

“13 hours of not eating is the bare minimum that every single person can benefit from.”

Ep 35 : Getting Rich With AirBnB With Chris Thomas

Ep 35 : Getting Rich With AirBnB With Chris Thomas

Airbnb is a leader in the rental business all over the world. The rental business is booming. That means you can run your AirBnB business from anywhere and that qualifies for a great idea to become the successful remotepreneur you always wanted to be.

To prove that, Chris Thomas is a special guest on our podcast today. He came from living on welfare to becoming a multi-millionaire. Now, he owns a business that makes a ridiculous ton of money on autopilot. He even wrote a killer book on how to make a fortune in real estate. To add even more success, he lives a life of luxury and freedom.

All you have to do is to read below!

Remotrepreneur’s Insights:

  • Reach Out to Investors – Chris managed to get investors interested quickly in his dream by contacting manually at least 500 people a day. In the beginning, sacrifice long hours of your day to reaching as many people as you can. Even if you manage to get at least one investor interested, you’ll be successful.
  • Find Your Business Model – Chris says there are two business models. The first one is to find people that have a room, apartment or house for renting. Second one is to find people willing to invest in your business. The choice is yours.
  • Additional Tips to Running an AirBnB Business – As a part of any business, it’s important to know your ROI, margins, gross revenue, costs for management etc. Chris gives his tips on doing just that on the podcast.

Key Podcast Milestones:

02:12 – How Chris went from welfare to multi-millionaire

08:08 – How does a short rental business work

12:30 – How much money do you need to start an AirBnB business

14:34 – What to do if you don’t have the money to start a business

15:42 – How do you calculate management fee

18:00 – How long does it take to start earning money

19:50 – Can you manage your AirBnB from anywhere around the world

22:10 – How to remove yourself from the process of running your AirBnB business

34:27 – AirBnB profit margins

Top Key Quotes:

“I reached out to 500 people - manually. Not InMail, Linkedin all that automated stuff. I manually reached out to 500 people in 48 hours.”

“You’re a rentopreneur. You’re either going to apartment buildings or you’re going to somebody who has a vacancy in a house or somebody who has an extra room. If I was starting out right now, I would reach out to a friend or a family member who has an extra room in a house or their apartment, reach out to their listing person and tell them you want to add an addendum in the agreement that you’re going to put people in AirBnB. You don’t want to be a slimeball on his business.”

“I come from the gutter. My companies are doing almost 3,5 million dollars. How is that possible? I’ll tell you why, right here and right now. It’s because I didn’t quit.”

Ep 34: Cracking The VA Code With Nathan Hirsch From Outsource School

Everybody talks about outsourcing, but most of them don't have a clue about how to do it. They say just go hire somebody and he'll take care of everything, and when you do everything gets done wrong and you end up doing it on your own... That's how a typical remote entrepreneur hires and fails.

Ep.32 : The Power Of Debt With Colin Yurcisin

Ep.32 : The Power Of Debt With Colin Yurcisin

Credit doesn’t have to be scary when you use it for your own benefit. Our podcast today is focused on how to use the banks to work for you instead of the other way around. We are joined by Colin Yuricisin, the credit card Robin Hood, who found a way to break the matrix and make debt a machine that makes you money.

Breaking the stigma about credit cards, Colin breaks down his journey of leveraging banks to make him the successful entrepreneur he is today.

Colin started his journey of ascension towards success with some bad investments that cost him years of getting out of debt.  He then decided to apply for a credit card and found a way to make banks work for him. Colin explains how you can use credit not only for your business but also for your lifestyle. There are no limits in real life, they only exist in your head. That’s why we are here to empower you to get where you want to get, business and lifestyle-wise, with other people’s money.

Remotrepreneur’s Insights:

  • Importance of Starting Your Line of Credit Card Early – Colin shares his experience when he first started out using credit cards and why it’s important to start early.
  • Leveraging Banks to Work For You – The tables have turned and now Colin tells us how you can make banks work for you to build income and assets.
  • Using Credit For Personal Use – There are hacks you can use to travel the world at luxury hotels using credit points, Colin is here to tell you how to do it.
  • Importance of Debt – Colin explains how debt can be a good thing for your business and how you can make debt make you more money.

Top Key Quotes:

“I don’t work through a bank, I’m using the bank”

When you use a debit card, you’re taking out your own money.  When you use a credit card, none of your money is in a bank account, it’s not tied to a bank account. You are literally using the bank’s bank account because they trust you.”

“When you first turn 18, you need to get a credit card. You need to start your credit history ASAP.”

“Debt is how the rich get rich”

“The more credit you have, the more trust you have”

Ep 30: Staying Productive When You Have Severe ADHD Without Medication with Freddy Lansky

Ep 30: Staying Productive When You Have Severe ADHD Without Medication with Freddy Lansky

Freddy Lansky, the owner of Points Panda and co-founder of iChess, is a guest on our podcast today to talk about his successful endeavors and how he managed to stay on track with discipline. Freddy, like all of us, struggled to stay disciplined. He found himself into the vortex of staying up late, eating unhealthy, and vices. Distraction was one of his biggest vices, and a lot of opportunities were wasted because of them.

After trying a few methods, Freddy found something that really works for him.

Freddy says there are so many great apps you use to help you block out all distractions in your life. You don’t have to be so disciplined that you start to go crazy about having a slice of pizza or cookie. Everything can be done in moderation. Also, keeping track of how many hours you sleep, which apps you spend the most time on, and what you eat can be helpful to you. That way, you know what to improve in your life. You need to set yourself up to success by blocking apps and staying away from social media as possible. Freddy gives tips on how to start your mornings better and how our phones impact on our health.

I know everybody can relate to the fact that apps are taking away most of our time, and staying away is difficult. If you want to know how to do that, keep on reading…

Remotrepreneur’s Insights

  • Eliminating Distractions: Companies spend billions of dollars just to get our attention. The power lies in us. Freddy talks about how to ‘discipline’ yourself to stay focused on what really matters.
  • The Restriction of Willpower: Freddy gives his thoughts on willpower and how they might not work for everyone.
  • Setting Yourself Up for Success: Freddy talks about how to achieve success as your only option
  • Getting Rid of Bad Habits: Any bad habit can be eliminated if you stay focused. Freddy talks about how important it is to indulge in your vices in moderation and not avoiding them all the time.

Top Key Quotes

"Will power is BS in general. It ranges from doesn’t work at all to kinda works."

"I think the strategy beyond having tracking and having a coach is really good isn’t getting rid of all the bad urges, to eat the cookie, to drink, to stay up late, is to find ways to make where it’s not even an option anymore."

"My dog had a 100% chance of going through his diet because that’s all he had. I make it for myself so that I can’t fail."

"Adding friction to bad habits and adding rewards to good habits."

"Enjoy your vices. Vices are meant to be enjoyed in moderation."

Towards the end, he gives his insights on how one can achieve location independence and make use of Geo Arbitrage to its full potential.

Listen now to know how to crush your goals and achieve success for 2020

Remotepreneur’s Insights:

  • Prioritizing goals is critical.
  • Build goals around habits.
  • Making goals social, being accountable, getting mentors or coaches and repeating for 21 days can help stick on to the process.
  • Remote entrepreneurs should limit the number of business or financial goals to two or three main goals for a year.
  • Be grateful and happy about the things that have been achieved and keep reviewing.
  • It is 100% possible to build business independence while constantly traveling.
  • Podcasting is still new and is a perfect way to expand one’s business.

Quotes:

3:32 - When we set goals, the idea is to set bigger goals, but fewer goals and make those a priority, and then start the process of making them a habit.

5:55 - Do whatever your goal is for 21 days. What happens if we do it for 21 days is that it reprograms our brain. So we're creating new neural pathways in our mind and it makes it easier to go back to that habit.

12:35 - Put priorities on to the goals that are important and have a lot of emotion behind them.

21:35 - Podcasting is still new

22:15- Online education, especially in the next 10-15 years, is going to get massive.

27:41- It’s just a few things in our lives that we need to survive and to feel good and to be happy. And so the more we feel good, the more that it creates the new…

33:15: Some people need to burn the bridge to be location independent and it lights a fire under them and gives them more passion and urgency to build that business while traveling...

35:20 A very smart thing to do for a lot of entrepreneurs that do want to be remote is to use the idea of Geo Arbitrage so you can live in one country and can make money with a high currency value and you can have your expenses very low

End of Season 1 - Remotepreneurs Podcast & 2019 Year In Review With Filip Will Stankovski

Podcasting sucks - that's my summary of 2019!!!

Did I get your attention???

Well that's the biggest lesson that I learned from starting the Remotepreneurs Podcast. The biggest value or currency if you will is ATTENTION!

Today I share my thoughts and lessons learned from starting the podcast and all the behind the scene work it takes to actually run a podcast. The episode is not edited on purpose because I'm fighting the syndrome of indecision "making it perfect".

If you are curious to hear the story of how and why I started the Remotepreneurs Podcast and want to learn what to do not to quit on your podcast listen to this episode now!

Ep 24: The Secrets Of Building 8-Figure BPO Business With Russ Perry From Design Pickle

Ep 24: The Secrets Of Building 8-Figure BPO Business With Russ Perry From Design Pickle

If you haven’t heard of Design Pickle, you will wish you heard of them earlier.

This company, which offers flat rate graphic design services, has been able to grow from two employees to over 330 with $10 million dollars in recurring revenue...and Design Pickle has only been in business for less than 5 years.

Not bad for a business that is also completely automated and outsourced using the BPO model (business process outsourcing).

In this episode, we talk with the former design professional turned industry-disrupting star-up creator, podcaster, mentor, author, and business coach, Russ Perry about the ultimate level of remotrepreneurship building a business that works completely without you.

Russ shares how he stumbled on the idea of Design Pickle and how he leveraged his first win (completely outsourcing the graphic design process) into a powerful business model that runs completely on its own.

As Russ discussed, many entrepreneurs start at the ground level with their business. While there’s nothing wrong with that, there is a problem with staying at the ground level. An entrepreneur who stays on the ground level of their business (handling client work, marketing, and sales, etc.) does not take the time to grow their business. As a result, they feel stuck in a trap where they never get ahead.

Russ argues that the focus of working IN the business instead of ON the business is the reason why so many potential remotepreneurs lose hope. They get overwhelmed with all of the work and frustrated with their cash flow and prospects.

A better approach, Russ advocates, is building a system that runs without you. Instead of trying to work harder to keep finding clients (and keeping them happy), Russ says that remotepreneurs need to focus on the machine that finds clients and keeps them happy. That “machine” is your business solution that helps another business earn money.

By scaling and automating your service to businesses, you now have the systems that allow to keep making money...without doing any of the client work.

Listen if you (or someone you know) needs help with breaking out of the “entrepreneurs growth trap”
