We discuss what the patriarchy is, why it is harmful to both men and women, and that we must move away from it in order to see a more humanized society.

20: Building A Being Mode Based Society, Part 4: Ending Brainwashing, Giving a Guaranteed Yearly Income & Closing the Poverty Gap
In episode 20, we continue our discussion from before our month on the theme of love - in Fromm's ideas on how to build a society based on the being mode - a society where we can live and flourish in our human nature, and not have to suppress it due to the needs of the demanding capitalistic machine. We discuss three of the many ways he suggested we do that. Ending brainwashing methods in political and industrial advertising, closing the gap between rich and poor nations, and implementing a Guaranteed Yearly Income. Fromm was for basic income! That is exciting and enlightening news. We talk about why its important to end the brainwashing (spoiler alert - we have lost control of our minds as a result!) and close the gap between the rich and poor nations. We also share many reasons why a basic income just makes sense, and would be a great idea to implement.
We start out by discussing the probable passing of the stimulus package, discussing exciting upcoming interviews with Amelia Pang and Sherry Turkle, as well as a recent new blog post by Lacey entitled I Hate the Word Should (Found at LaceyDelayne.Medium.com).

19: LOVE THEMED FEBRUARY: Self Love & Self Care - It's not Selfish and its SUPER Important
Yea, we know it's already March...but we had to do oneeee more episode on the theme of love! To start episode 19, we discuss where we are about a year into the pandemic with regards to recovery as a nation from a health perspective as well as an economic perspective. We also reveal what our exciting news is for April 3, the 1st year anniversary of the podcast. And marvel at the fact that we have been doing the podcast for a year now! Diving into the content, we discuss what self love is, what it isn't and why it is important. We also mention some ways we can show ourselves self love once we have realized it is an awesome thing to prioritize in our lives. The outro is a throwback to episode 14, in which we discussed the ugliness of bureaucracy and the need for a new model for interaction and management of peoples and societies. Special thanks to Richard Berry for the reading. Our new email address is rethinkinghumanitypodcast@gmail.com, please feel free to shoot us an email sharing your thoughts on the podcast! 13: New Years Episode! :) - Reflecting on 2020 - Looking ahead to 2021. And, What is life all about? Some of Fromm's Top Quotes & What We Think About Them
Episode 13 - In this New Years Eve episode, we reflect on 2020 and look ahead to 2021. We also discuss a Vox article called The End of Productivity discussing how the pandemic has impacted people's jobs, and caused them to rethink the way they approach work and the value they place on it in their lives. The revelation of how unsatisfying the work-obsessed life really is caused them to be open to changing how they live. We share some audio from one of Dr. Gabor Mate's latest YouTube interviews from Dec 11, 2020, in which he gives a great picture of how culture causes individual sickness, disease and toxicity. Lastly we discuss some of Erich Fromm's most impactful quotes about what life is all about, and what we think about them.
