In this episode, Rosa will tell you the history of Absinthe, the traditional way to drink it, some fun stories about famous artists, poets and bohemians (not the macrame kind) that enjoyed drinking it. She'll also tell you about a murder where the killer was drunk on Absinthe, helping to finalize the ban the strange, green liquid. Yes, we're drinking it in this episode! We might get a little slurrrrrryyyyy.

Angela finishes up her crazy story about the Khamar Daban Expedition while we sip on Moscow Mules. When listener Lauren sent us a message and suggested we do a story on the Dyatlov Pass Incident, Rosa had no idea what she was getting into. 

9 experienced hikers go missing in the Russian snowy mountains; but when their bodies are found, investigators notice that there were some strange and very unusual injuries to the deceased. What caused these deaths? Russian Military, strong radio frequencies, Yetis, UFOs, or was it just an avalanche? Help us decide.

• 2 oz passion, pineapple, guava juice

While Angela was prepping for a big presentation, I convinced (bribed) my little brother, Eric to fill in. I filled him a nice cup of some Buffalo Trace and told him to story for Pappy Van Winkle and the Great Bourbon Heist AKA Pappygate. This story give a brief history of Toby Curtsinger and his crew, how they were able to pull off such a huge job, for so long, without getting caught. Plus, I'll tell you what they're up to know and where all that bourbon is headed.

Two brothers from Chittendon, Vermont, William and Horacio came from a long line of family members who had special gifts. Once their father found out about these gifts, he beat them, and eventually sold them to a traveling side-show performer. In this episode, Rosa tells you about the incredible things these brothers could do that shocked and awed thousands of people. From conjuring spirits to levitating, healing and speaking in tongues. But were they legit or just really good at magic tricks?   

Tonight's Drink: Spicy Vermont Whisky 

• 2 ounces whiskey 
• 1/2 ounce lemon juice
• 1/4 cup blueberries, muddled or blended
• 1 ounce Ghost Pepper Syrup 
• 1 ounce club soda
• Mint leaves for garnish
• cup of ice

1. In a shaker or blender, combine lemon juice and blueberries until pulverized. 
2. Add whiskey, club soda and spicy syrup and blend lightly. 
3. Pour over ice and garnish with mint leaves.

Tonight's Drink: Summer Basil Strawberry  

Ingredients

• 5 strawberries plus more for garnish
• 2 basil leaves plus more for garnish
• 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
• 1/2 ounce agave syrup 
• 1.5-2 ounces vodka of your choice 
• Ice

Instructions

1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle (or blend) strawberries, basil, and lemon juice.
   
2. Add the remaining ingredients and shake until combined.
   
3. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with strawberries and a basil leaf.
