I grew up in a small hamlet on Long Island called Floral Park. I am the youngest of eight siblings and the only one born in Floral Park. My mom was pregnant with me when we moved into our storybook home in 1963. I am now sixty years old and have lived in many places, but to this day, the majority of my dreams take place in my childhood home of Floral Park. About a year ago I had a dream that I was helping my mother retrieve some boxes from the attic. There was an unfinished section of the attic where my dad laid plywood across the rafters and we stored boxes of Christmas decorations, empty suitcases and bric-a-brac.

In this dream, my mother asked me to bring her a cardboard box. But as I got close to it, I saw a bird's nest with a strange looking skeleton curled up inside. When I picked up the nest I awoke and immediately wrote down every detail I could remember. I could still see the strange skeleton with my eyes half closed, trying not to forget what it looked like, I quickly drew it with a ballpoint pen.

The next day as I re-read my scribbled notes and studied the skeleton drawing I thought, 'what the heck does this mean'?

And so I started writing my novel, 'The Plain Field'. In little over a year I have finished the three books of this trilogy.

Releasing soon will be my second book, 'The Plain Field / Shadow Twins' and then the finale, "The Plain Field / Eyes and Ash'.

Noone’s debut novel, “The Plain Field,” is set in his childhood home of Floral Park. The story follows the O’Hare family as they move into a house on Plainfield Avenue, uncovering local folklore and hidden truths intertwined with their own family’s secrets. The narrative delves into themes of mystery and the supernatural, reflecting the enigmatic allure of Floral Park.

In addition to his writing, Noone draws inspiration from his dreams and life experiences, often incorporating them into his storytelling. He credits his “healthy Irish ability to exaggerate” as a contributing factor to his creative process.

We discuss the Wendy Savino shooting. Wendy Savino, an 87-year-old woman, was recently officially recognized by the New York Police Department as the first victim of notorious serial killer David Berkowitz, also known as “Son of Sam.” The attack occurred on April 9, 1976, when Savino was shot multiple times while sitting in her car. She sustained severe injuries, including the loss of an eye, but managed to survive the assault.

David Berkowitz initially targeted Savino before his more widely known murder spree in 1976-1977, during which he killed six people and wounded others. Although Savino provided a crucial sketch of her attacker early on, it took decades for her to be formally recognized as Berkowitz’s first victim. Her survival and perseverance contributed to his eventual capture.

Berkowitz, who remains imprisoned, expressed remorse for his crimes during a recent parole hearing, though he continues to serve multiple life sentences for the murders. The recognition of Savino’s victimhood adds a new chapter to the tragic legacy of Berkowitz’s reign of terror.

The Tubes are a rock band that formed in San Francisco in 1972. They are best known for their theatrical live performances, blending rock, punk, satire, and outrageous costumes, creating a style that was both eccentric and influential in the late 1970s and 1980s.

Founding Members: The band was originally formed by members from two Phoenix, Arizona bands who moved to San Francisco. The core members included:

• Roger Steen (guitar, vocals)

• Rick Anderson (bass)

• Prairie Prince (drums)

• Michael Cotten (keyboards)

• Vince Welnick (keyboards)

While their music was solid, they are best remembered for their extravagant live shows that parodied media, pop culture, and consumerism. Music Career

Nico’s music career took off when she was introduced to Andy Warhol, who managed The Velvet Underground. Warhol suggested that Nico should sing with the band, leading to her contributions to their seminal debut album, The Velvet Underground & Nico (1967). Her deep, haunting voice added a distinct atmosphere to tracks like “Femme Fatale,” “All Tomorrow’s Parties,” and “I’ll Be Your Mirror.”

After her work with The Velvet Underground, Nico embarked on a solo career. Her debut solo album, Chelsea Girl (1967), featured a more folk-oriented sound, with contributions from members of The Velvet Underground and Bob Dylan.
