Gender Equality in Health and Social Science
In this week's episode of RRI Explained, we talk to a long-time friend of ResBios, Dr Vasiliki Kiparoglou. Vasiliki is the Chief Operating Officer of the NIHR Oxford BRC and has worked extensively with a number of EU projects in regard to RRI in Health and Social Sciences, with a particular focus on gender and inclusion within this field. We discuss how a lack of representation in higher research and managerial roles in health science research is impacting the research community, and how different approaches to academic recognition may be a necessity moving forward.
Having been a key partner with the StarBios 2 project and an advisor to ResBios, it is great to catch up with Vasiliki and see how NIHR Oxford BRC is promoting the ideals of RRI and equality within the field of health science.

RRI Explained - Engaging research with Citizen Science
In this week's episode of RRI explained, Chris speaks to Nicola Quadri from the Time4CS. We discuss the benefits and challenges of engaging researchers in Citizen Science projects, and how the Time4CS project hopes to provide the support and guidance needed to instil these ideas into the minds of academics and students so that how researchers engage with citizens is at the forefront when planning research projects, not an afterthought.

Building an Ethics Governance House
The RRI Explained Podcast is back with something a little different. This time Chris Styles speaks with Associate Professor Elsa González-Esteban, a project coordinator with the ETHNA System project. Elsa and Chris talk about how the Ethna System provides both a foundation and the flexibility needed to create bespoke ethical governance systems, across Higher Education, Funding and Research Centres, and how the other pillars of RRI inform governance.
Education and a better understanding of RRI and Bioscience
In this episode of #RRIExplained, Chris Styles speaks with Saskia Tenberg from the Universität Bremen, about how the principles of RRI needs to be taught throughout a person's life, to cement these ideals before misconceptions and bias can set in.

Gender Equality and Bioscience for All
In this episode of RRI Explained, Chris speaks with Dr Magdalena Żadkowska from the University of Gdansk. They talk about gender equality and how equal representation can benefit bioscience research. Gender equality is one of the key pillars for RRI and although a lot of attention has been made to the issues facing female researchers, and more recently non-binary and trans researchers, progress seems to be slow.
Dr Magdalena Żadkowska talks about the issues of making a workplace welcome for all, and how equal representation can benefit science in more ways than you might have thought!

Open Science and RRI in RESBIOS
Open Access and Open Science should level the playing fields for researchers in all fields all over the world, and with the "wicked problems" we are all facing, open access is a tool that can help us all work together! But as well as opportunities, there are challenges we must address if we are to fully embrace Open Access. This week Chris talks to Prof Dimitar Djilianov from the Agrobioinstitute about Open Access and Open Science, and their place in the field of biosciences
