Going Back, Third Culture & Mansaf
Robb and I arrived in Amman, Jordan as part of the same cohort of new teachers at ACS Amman in 2018. We quickly became friends and our families spent our first Thanksgiving in Jordan together at a camp in Wadi Rum. Talking with Robb about his ideas of home and growing up abroad was fun for me as his perspective is quite different having grown up as a third culture kid. We explored what it meant for him to grow up abroad having been born in a country different from the one on his passport, and some of the challenges of establishing that idea of home for his own kids.

Airports, Music and Bo-Berry Biscuits
In this first episode I caught up with my old friend, Amanda Barbee. Amanda and her husband John, lived around the corner from us in North Carolina before we set off on our international adventures. At the time of this interview, Amanda was just completing her first year as an international educator in Chengdu, China. Since then, her family spent some time in Panama before deciding to return back to North Carolina to put down roots.
Extra special thanks to Amanda for letting me dig up this old audio for my first episode. It was recorded in May of 2018. Three years does not seem like so long ago, but then again it does, and my how the world has changed.
A few links to places mentioned in this episode:
Chengdu (where Amanda was living)
Accra (where I was living)
The Hideout (our favorite place in Ghana)
Bojangles (home of the Bo-Berry biscuit. I couldn't resist)

Coming soon "Home is..."
My first recordings for this podcast were made almost four years ago and I'm finally getting this project off the ground. A podcast that explores the idea of home, its many definitions and feelings. In each episode I'll catch up with friends around the world to talk a little about their adventures and discuss their idea of home. The first episode is coming soon.
