Ep. 67: How Do We Open Up To People?
More than fear, it's shame that stops us from opening up to other people or jumping into a conversation. We all feel that shame when it comes to talking about ourselves, our emotions, and our truths. In this episode, Mara opens up (tada!) about how we can enter conversational spaces and let go of the shame and worry that comes with being vulnerable and honest with our thoughts and feelings.

Ep. 66 Being Okay With Quitting
There's an old saying that goes "quitters never win and winners never quit" and it has put a lot of pressure on us especially when we reach a point of wanting to just stop and move on. How do we gain a more mindful perspective on quitting? In this episode, we discuss how we give kindness and compassion to ourselves during those moments when we feel like we need or want to give something up.

Ep. 64 Finding Peace In Our Pace
Quick Disclaimer: My mic kind of conked out on me for the 2nd part of this episode so the audio quality midway through the episode might not sound so great. My mic is fixed now though so the next episode will sound better. Thank you so much to Podcast Network Asia for helping fix this technical issue.
When we find ourselves in between transitions, we find ourselves overwhelmed with finding what our pace really is. Should we stand still? Should we sprint? Should we just casually run? And when we decide on what pace we go for, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. IN this episode, Mara talks about what being at peace with the pace you are currently at can feel like and how can it be one of the most compassionate and loving things you can do for yourself.

Aaaand we are back with a brand new season! How have you all been?
We're kicking off this new season with my friend and business partner, Maria Mison. In this episode, we talk about how being in fandoms is more than just having admiration for the artistry that revolves in such spaces. Being in a fandom has become an entry point to healing, self-awareness and self-realization for us, and we're pretty sure you have also experienced the same thing.

Ep. 57 Looking Back At The Season That Was
Have you ever read your old journals and realized how much you've changed? Have you ever encountered an old social media post where you wrote down pretty good advice for yourself that you have now started to live by? Looking at our experiences in retrospect helps us recognize how much we've grown. For the last episode of Season 4, Mara looks back at the stories behind each episode that made up this season and how they've reflected personal and collective human experiences.
Thank you so much for being with me this entire season. You have made this experience very worthwhile and memorable. While I prepare for Season 5, feel free to contact me via my IG @movementandmyriads about anything and everything. Maybe there's a topic you want to talk about or a reflection you want to expound on. Let me know!
Special thanks to @podcastnetworkasia for being so patient and giving.

Ep. 56 Reintegrating Into Society
With the world slowly opening up again, we oftentimes ask ourselves how we can re-integrate ourself into society. Just when we've started to settle into a pace, we have to adjust again. In terms of advice, it's Mara's turn to ask you for it. How are you re-adjusting? What kind of pace do you think you're on? How can we navigate this new world that feels both familiar and strange?

Ep. 54 Living with Childlike Wonder with KCo Pt. 1
After last week's episode that deals with grief, loss and how everything in this world is temporary, we lighten things up by talking about how we can make the most out of this life by being present. One of the best ways to do so is by cultivating this childlike wonder, or nurturing this Inner Child. Mara is joined by KCo, a magical and creative soul who dedicates her devotional service to teaching and also being taught by children. In this episode, they talk about the courage and authenticity of children, and how they are great examples of what it means to live in the present moment.

Ep. 53 On Finding Peace in Grief

Ep. 52 On Wearing Many Hats
Being conditioned the moment we are born, it becomes difficult to carry out what we believe our purpose is while still being fully aware of the roles we need to play in our various communities. In the search of the fulfillment of this purpose, we need to change our roles and labels to adapt and to grow. But there are times when these roles don't seem to suit or fit us. There are also times when we feel like we question if we still deserve to label ourselves with certain roles. In this episode, Mara talks about deserving and labeling, how they can feel both limiting and empowering, and how we can embrace the circumstances we are in and make them work not against us but for us.

Ep. 50 The Courage in Creativity (Pt. 1) with Maria Mison
Creativity is an art, but it oftentimes seen as something that needs a physical tangible output like a painting, a film, a song or anything kind of medium we consume. But creativity is more than that. It is intuition personified. It is an extension of ourselves that we can place into everything and anything we do. In this episode, I am joined by Maria Mison (@mariasantisimaa), a magical artist who dabbles into so many art forms, and we talk about how creativity is innate in all of us.

Ep. 48 Finding Humility in Learning and Teaching
"One cannot reach the real point of factual knowledge without being helped by the right person who is already established in that knowledge." This quote from the Bhagavad Gita was what inspired Mara to come up with this week's episode. Every waking day that we experience is a journey of learning and teaching, but there are times that we resist the call to do so. In this episode, Mara shares what held her back and what gave her the courage to move forward and open herself up to being guided and mentored as she continues to walk the spiritual and mindfulness path.

In this episode, Mara shares her experience with how she realized the true meaning of support from both the giving and receiving ends.

Ep35 Michiko Soriano on Pregnancy Cravings & Gestational Diabetes
We continue the discussion with Michiko Soriano who shares her pregnancy story with us thus far on her 30th week. She shares how this has been an epic “hero’s journey”* - a transformation to motherhood - that has been relatively easy and smooth. On her 26th week, she found that she had developed gestational diabetes after taking her second Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). Fortunately she simply has to monitor her blood sugar after meals (no insulin needed), she has learned a lot about listening more to her body and what it needs at a given time. Join us in this episode as we talk through pregnancy “cravings” and what it really means when we have them!

Ep34 Michiko Soriano on Womanhood Beliefs
Sage Conversations Co-Founder Michiko Soriano rejoins Roanna and Mara for the first time this third season from her hiatus for a two-part episode to share her pregnancy journey and the beliefs and programs she has acquired or released to manifest this (and a smooth one!) in her life. Recognizing that “womanhood” is a common recurring theme in her life - with her passion for women empowerment with her various involvements, there have also been physical and spiritual struggles that she goes through with her being a woman (i.e. intense dysmenorrhea, PCOS, etc). She recalls how she had previously carried fear of not being a mother (which she wanted to be) and also shares the more recent work on herself about having to release the thinking that “life is a struggle.” Wearing her ThetaHealing® practitioner hat, in this episode she also gives positive downloads for those who may want to receive them.
Ep33 Yummy & RJ Jalijali on their COVID-19 Experience
A year and a half since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, we are honored to have RJ and Yummy Jalijali, husband and wife and parents to two children who bravely share about their first-hand experience of the said virus (and in the context of the Philippines) as cases continue to rise. Despite being extra precautionary, and with almost their whole household being vaccinated, they were 32 weeks pregnant with their second child when they contracted COVID and Yummy had to go through an emergency C-section. We found their story to be very relevant at a time when there have been doubts and uncertainty about the efficacy of the vaccines, especially also for pregnant and lactating women. With this episode, we keep an honest intention to help others make a decision about this matter and to still stay safe and not be complacent thereafter even with it.
RJ and Yummy are most grateful for the medical workers who helped them get through this ordeal and for the prayers (and food!) that friends and family have offered them.
This episode is dedicated to all frontliners and to those who have dedicated their days fighting against COVID-19.
Ep32 On Ivy Pangilinan’s Neurodivergence Superpower
Multi-faceted creative and ever-evolving artist Ivy Pangilinan openly shares for the first time publicly about her mental health and being treated for ADHD. Though still going through the process, she feels more empowered to talk about it in hopes to help others who may be struggling with the same thing to remind them that they are not alone. Neurodivergence, a term coined in late 1990s used to describe conditions like ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, in hopes to “shift the focus of discourse about ways of thinking and learning away from the usual litany of deficits, disorders, and impairments.” Ivy says how her hyperactive-impulsive ADHD can be her superpower - the ability to see so many possibilities and connect things, to be drawn to taking risks - and it is true that with the treatment of it is how one can reach one’s full potential. For her, she continues to find her own full potential in also doing the simplest things, and thus even finding inner peace: “in listening to her own instincts and beliefs and not giving in to what she should be doing.” In being able to accept herself, she’s able to accept others, in being able to integrate more and to anchor in the dream of just being happy.
Ep31 Miel Abong on Turning Stages to Safe Spaces
Theatre and commercial actress Miel Abong shares the stage and holds space for us in this episode, with a focus on her passion for entertainment arts and her advocacies specifically around mental health. Her current work on this is being able to marry the two, and being a “resource person for her past self” and tackling it creatively utilizing fundamental techniques learned as well in acting. She founded 31mm studios as a hub and community for this and to be able to share her experience with whoever would resonate with it. The workshops are rooted in authentic work, like developing empathy as an actor and as a person, bringing out skills and characteristics from the stage out “in the real world” that can better equip the person (how to overcome stage fright or shyness are some examples). As she celebrates her 30th birthday next month, she continues to share her learnings and advocacies as an actress and as a curious learner, now pursuing becoming a practitioner for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Ep29 Embracing our Authentic Selves with Michelle Calasanz
Michelle Calasanz, a practitioner of ThetaHealing®, Sacred Activations, Reiki, and Millennium Method, and whose healing style continues to evolve, focuses on her advocacy of empowering her clients and “giving them their voices and power back.” Our Sage Conversations episode with her tackles on her passion to be authentic, sharing one’s truth, and that means saying “what you need to say, crying and cursing if you have to” as all that are part of the healing process. It’s about embracing who we are and our flaws, our fats and our weirdness. She reminds us that we should sit with the emotions and to go through the process, that means cherishing our human-ness and ot wearing our “love and light hat” all the time.
“When we are our true selves - we attract happiness. Bring that love in by being you.
Bleep everyone else.”

Ep28 Grounding the Meaning of Grounding with Jenny Ozoa
We open the third season with Jenny Ozoa, an energy healer who also works with various intuitive methods like card reading and Akashic Records, joining us as we have a conversation about what “grounding” is to her. She shares that it’s a lot to do with being really present in one’s body and where one is physically. We have the tendency to “not inhibit this 3D reality” or even feel flighty - don’t you have those moments when you don’t even recall what you had for lunch of the same day?
Jenny defines “grounding” even further as “being aware of what’s happening, aware of our thoughts, what we’re doing, what we need to do, and what we did.” When we are grounded or have a sense of balance, we are unshakeable, she says. Listen in on our conversation about our different ways or techniques to ground - may it be through sitting, listening to sound, cooking, or even taking up a language - at the end of the day it can be our own safe space or what feels like home to us. And yet, we also learn that when we do find ourselves in unchartered territories or what makes us feel ungrounded, it is to be welcomed with open arms as it may be the opportunity when we actually find ourselves in an area of growth or expansion.
Thank you for Season 2!
We just want to thank you for being with us on the 2nd season of Sage Conversations, not just by listening to our podcast episodes, but also joining our conversations through our livestreams on Facebook, Youtube and the Kumu app. We hope you've learned a lot from our amazing guests like we did! Ep27 Unexpected Expectations with Noella Medalla
Many of us can relate when it comes to life taking an unexpected turn. Sage Conversations Season 2 Finale is with Noella Medalla, or Elle, founder of Unexpected Expectations, and is joined (unexpectedly but pleasantly) by her son Luciano! She bravely walks us through the time she got pregnant in 2019 - something she had initially felt ashamed about given her background and “social norms” that were ingrained in her back then. She shares her internal mindset and belief shift, recognizing that it was also through faith and God’s love that had helped her. Unexpectedly still, she got moral support around her through her parents and her boyfriend-now-husband. Deep down she knew, as she was opening up to her new calling to motherhood, that she had to also be more aware of these negative feelings that no longer served her knowing the baby would feel these, too.
Now having been through this, and how happy she is and has been with her child, she’s founded Unexpected Expectations to help unexpected expectant mothers in their own journey. She points out that while there is a big mother tribe for mothers-to-be, there is a need for this space for those who had not planned this or may still have feelings of shame about their pregnancy. She is currently building a program for new moms to build confidence and certainty in embracing their role as a stay-at-home boss mom.

Ep26 The Use of Astrology in Understanding Trauma and Purpose with Jeremy Tan
Jeremy Tan has always been into Astrology as a child and has taken the leap to become a full-time Astrologer and Purpose Coach since the start of the year. His process starts off with reading one’s natal chart and connects this with ongoing patterns in one’s life. Should trauma show up, he conducts a trauma release session or a Trauma-Informed Perspective (e.g. where did the feeling of being unloved come from?) What’s different from just this process is his philosophy of also replacing it with purpose. He shares that he was inspired by his own experience from his own trauma, that now he has found newfound direction in helping others as well to letting go, learning from it, and even anchoring on purpose.
He reminds us that there we are a work-in-progress, constantly healing, and that “the middle ground is life.” We can always regulate and center ourselves in order to stay the course of our purpose. When we share our stories, we make it a safe space to be more open about their own stories as well and we find healing when we start to acknowledge it too.

Ep25 Roanna Medina on Autoimmune Disease and Living the Life She Wants
Sage Conversations co-host, Functional Medicine Health Coach Roanna Medina shares her experience on being diagnosed with a toxic thyroid and Hashimoto's Autoimmune Disease in the years of 2013 and 2016, respectively. She went through medication as prescribed by her doctor, but deep down she was convinced that she could not live a life being too dependent on these for the rest of her life. She was determined to “break free” and to fully control her body after years of not being able to.
Roanna tells us that we all have the ability to create better health by vision-setting and taking small aligned actions, and encourages us to get to the root of our challenges to be best equipped in dealing with them. Finally, she reminds that there’s always hope. Through her example, she shows us that we can all break-free and heal from stress, discomfort and dis-ease, and live the life that we want for ourselves.
Ep24 Celebrating Trans Identity with Mela Franco Habijan
Mela Habijan, or popularly known as Miss Mela, aims to fulfill her mission to always “live life with a purpose.” She joins us on this episode as she shares her journey of embracing being a Filipino transgender woman, fully celebrating her identiy and all of the LGTBQIA community as well. She acknowledges being empowered by other trans sisters, which she finds herself doing so now too in a place of having a powerful voice in her different advocacies and now being the first ever Miss Trans Global for the year 2020. We learn that while hers was a 3-year identity crisis where she was wrapped up in fear of not being able to fulfil her dreams, in hindsight she feels that with this fear came belittling and denying her identity (listen in on how this ended!). It may be shorter or longer for others, but she wisely encourages that “it is okay to go through that crisis, that pain, because it is part of the process.” In time, one would regain the journey and come out of it even stronger. Today, she is able to truly say that “her being trans is right, her being trans is a gift.” She is whole.
