Mindful Presence
Parenting can be one of the most challenging and stressful jobs. Especially when we know that the way we parent, has the biggest influence on our children.
Practicing mindfulness as parents and modeling calm presence, without reacting and judging can set such a wonderful example to our children and lead us from a place of chaos to increased harmony and happiness.
What is mindfulness and why is it important for you and your child?
In essence, mindfulness simply means that you bring your conscious attention to the present experience, in a non-judgemental and accepting manner. When you become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and body sensations, you inconsequently gain more ability to CHOOSE your response of what's happening, rather than getting hijacked by your feelings.
We're talking about what is "Mindful presence" and why it's so important to learn in order to help children and parents thrive...
The first and foremost thing as a parent is to "Just relax” and slow down. The more calm and relaxed we are, the more we would enjoy the journey. If we could let go of unnecessary worries, we would be happily enjoying our children instead of hovering over them anxiously.
In this episode of Raising parents, I'm sharing an interesting story from my life, that me and my children still laugh at after 9 years of that incident.

Listening is love
Listening is the best gift for a child and even adults. When you listen to your child, it raises their self-worth, self-confidence, and self-esteem.
When you listen to somebody so deeply, completely, attentively, then you are truly listening to the whole of it, not just part of it, without interrupting, without assuming anything, nonjudgmentally and compassionately, the other person feels understood, accepted, and loved in the process.
That's the reason people go to coaches and therapists and sometimes feel that they're being listened to for the first time in their lives, and in the process, they get healed and uplifted.
Empathic listening is such a beautiful gift. Let's talk about how to start building this skill in this episode of raising parents.

Unacceptance to Radical Acceptance
Do you know most of our communication like telling, instructing, commanding, correcting conveys unacceptance to our children?
We might feel that we accept them, but do children really feel accepted by their parents? Usually, they don't.
We're exploring "How to move from Unacceptance to Radical Acceptance" on this episode of Raising Parents.
"Radical acceptance" means completely and totally accepting someone or something from the depth of your soul, with your heart and your mind. You just stop fighting reality, and when you stop fighting, you suffer less as a parent and your children as well.
That means you don't feel discomfort, frustration, or anger when you think about the situation.

Acceptance - Holy grail of parenting
There's no perfect parent, no perfect child, no ideal or right way of parenting. Imagine, if we could really deeply understand this, realise this, how calm and relaxed we'll be.
We're talking about what is "Unconditional Acceptance" and why it's so important to learn in order to help children and parents thrive...
The first and foremost thing as a parent is to "Just relax”. The more calm and relaxed we are, the more we would enjoy the journey. If we could let go of unnecessary worries, we would be happily enjoying our children instead of hovering over them anxiously.
In this episode of Raising parents, I'm sharing an interesting story of Mullah Nasruddin and how that story relates to day to day parent's life.

How to Hold Space
Holding space is unconditional love in action. It's a conscious act of being present, open, allowing, and protective of what another person needs at that moment.
Parents are holding a nurturing, loving space for their children to flourish. What are the qualities of this space in which children grow to their full potential?
Let us talk about this in the 4th episode of Raising parents.
I've used an Acronym CALM for this.
C- Conscious & compassionate
A- Accepting & appreciating
L- Listening
M- Mindful
Can we create & hold such space for our children? Also for our spouse, our friends, our loved ones?

Parents are Space holders.
"What is Holding space" and why it is so important for your child? Do you know that children blossom in a space, where they are accepted fully, despite their flaws, their mistakes, struggles, and shortcomings?
To hold space for your child, you don't need to be a psychologist, a life coach, or therapist; you're already doing it unknowingly. Once you realise how to hold space for your child in a way that uplifts them rather than diminishes them, that gives them wings, and not limits them...you know that you're on a wonderful path to support your beloved children. So can we learn to create and hold such space for our children?
This episode is like having a mini-coaching session with me, so grab a notebook, pen, and come with me on a wonderful learning ride...
We'll talk about- 'what's Holding space is and what it's not?' I'll be sharing my own childhood story and what happened during my childhood as a little shy girl that helped me become who I am today...
Parents are Spaceholders! Let's talk about this in the 3rd episode of Raising parents. If you like this podcast, please share with other parents and leave a review for me here: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/raising-parents/id1528765365

Why this podcast isn't called Raising Children?
Every parent wants her/his child to thrive mentally, emotionally, financially; in all domains of life, right? What does it really take for a child to thrive? There's tons of advice on this topic in the world, and yet Statistics show clearly, that the rate of depression, anxiety, mental and emotional issues in teens and preteens, relationship and addiction problems, divorce rates in young adults is rising at an alarming rate. Ever wondered why?
In this episode of raising parents, Saloni talks about an important piece of the puzzle that gets almost no attention when we talk about raising healthy kids - "Happy and healthy Parents".
It's high time that we shift the attention and focus back from trying to fix the problems the young generation is facing and put it back on ourselves - the adults. The only way, you can help your children learn is by your own example. Rest all ways, rewards, punishments, and tactics are not going to work especially with the modern kids, generation Z, and Y with higher Intelligence and emotional quotient.
Here we'll explore the best ways we can help our children learn to build emotional intelligence, resilience, mental capacity, and a positive mindset.

Celebrate who you are!
We want our children to have high self-worth, healthy self-esteem, and belief in themselves, while we struggle with our own insecurities and lack of worth in life. Celebrating ourselves doesn’t come that easy to us. We spend far too much time and energy focused on what we think is “wrong” with us, our lives, and worrying about our children.
In this episode, you'll learn what does celebrating ourselves and our children means actually.
Why celebration is the word from 'GOD' and so important in order to connect with ourselves and our children?
Also, I'll be sharing how to truly celebrate yourself, your life, and your children.
