Embracing Challenges + Important Announcement #SaturdayMorningHustle
Today, we're embracing challenges - to our systems, to our thought process, to the way we do things - as a benefit, as a sum positive, the same way we embraced change last week. We're going to be challenged in your systems. We're not just embracing them, but actually seeking challenges out. Finding ways to overcome challenges is the process of ultimately being successful. Also a major announcement at the end of the episode about the future of the Saturday Morning Hustle podcast and brand. You do not want to miss this!

Change Is Coming #SaturdayMorningHustle
The successful management of change is a common theme on the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. You guys have heard me talk about it before. I'm bringing it up again precisely because change is coming in my professional life, which means change is coming to this podcast and you're going to have to deal with change right along with me. So, there's no better reason to revisit this idea today.
Change happens all the time, and even the most routine actions can have the potential to bring about new and different experiences. Successful change management requires an attitude of adaptation, adoption, and adjustment in ways that benefit you and ultimately lead to success. While changes that happen outside of our control can be challenging, how we react to them is in our control.
Consistency is desired, but change is necessary. Everything evolves, and there will be unexpected outcomes and opportunities to grow and do better. Therefore, we should experiment with change, see what works, adopt it and look for new ways to change. Communication is key in change management, and it is essential to communicate changes often and learn from past experiences, both positive and negative. Change can be beneficial, and as long as we embrace it, we can move forward to achieve success.
Let's talk about it today! It's Saturday. I'm in the office. This is the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. Listen while your competition is still sleeping. https://bit.ly/ListenToSMH
What is Success? How You Define It & What You Do With It? #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback Episode
The great thing about the pursuit of success is everyone gets to define what success means to them. A million $$, a hundred million $$, work/life balance, serving others, etc.....? But don't stop there! What are you going to do with that success once you have achieved it? Let's talk about it. I have a few ideas and an example of someone doing it right. Appearances and Expectations #SaturdayMorningHustle
Good morning, and welcome to a different type of Saturday Morning Hustle podcast. I am all dressed up today. I'm not in my usual Saturday Morning Hustle swag, a t-shirt, sweatshirt, etc. This gives me an opportunity to talk to you on a podcast today about how to set and manage expectations, understanding who you're talking to, who your audience is, and what they need to see and hear from you in order for them to take you seriously and not be focused on small things such as how you're dressed or something else superficial.
You only get one chance to make a first impression once. What matters most is the expectations of the person or group of people you're meeting, collaborating with, presenting to, etc. The number one rule in communication is understanding your audience. Understand who you're talking to and what their expectations are.
So when you have a formal presentation or you're in a meeting with someone who dresses a certain way, I try to accommodate their expectations.

Success Is NOT A to B #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback Episode
Success is a journey, not a destination; the path is full of unexpected deviations. You can't get too set on an idea of success because "the real world" will change that picture. Don't believe me? Just ask Luguentz (Lu) Dort, the starting shooting guard for the OKC Thunder NBA franchise. His story just might be your story (not really, but we can learn from his unconventional path to success). The key is learning how to balance "sticking with the plan" with knowing "when to get out" of a plan that just won't work BUT not too soon or making major changes too often. It's the ultimate balancing act. Let's talk about it. Original episode 8/20/20. It's Saturday. I'm in the office. This is the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. Management Lessons From The Bad Guy in the 1984 Movie Road House (Pt2 of 2) #SaturdayMorningHustle
Let's discuss the management lessons we can all learn from the bad guy Brad Wesley in the 1984 cult classic movie Road House. Believe it or not, he brings a lot of excellent management and leadership skills with him. I'm going to break them all down for you today.
He utilized the following business development tools: work-life balance, delegation, strategy first, then action, working from a point of strength, getting your hands dirty, and doing what's necessary when it's necessary (within reason).
Spoiler Alert (c'mon, this film has been out for three decades): Brad Wesley ultimately fails because his motivation (evil) and strategy (destroying all competition at any cost) are flawed. Don't fall into either of these self-imposed traps.
Don't miss Pt1, the Business Process Management (BPM) lessons we can all learn from Dalton in Road House. Patrick Swayze plays Dalton, the newly hired head bouncer (called a Cooler) at a rowdy club that needs a turnaround.

Hustle. Grind. Build. Adapt. #SaturdayMorningHustle Lost Episode 2018
Today, we revisit a long-lost episode of the Saturday Morning Hustle podcast that had technical difficulties and was never posted but it's a good, concise discussion episode you don't want to miss.
A lot of people say they want success. They say they have to hustle. They say they have to grind. But do they really have what it takes to be successful at what they're trying to build? Do they have the patience, the forethought, the talent, and will they really hustle and grind, or do they think it's something easy like they see on TV?
You have to bring something new to the market—something interesting, unique, or different about yourself and how you do what you do—something people can connect to.
Everyone wants immediate success. Guess what? The world doesn't work like that. So, if you want to be successful, you'll have to build it. Nobody can just hand it to you.

I Take Cold Showers Because Thor Told Me To - Lesson in Attitude and Habits #SaturdayMorningHustle
After poling the #SaturdayMorningHustle fans on social media this week, you picked "I Take Cold Showers Because Thor Told Me To" as the topic of episode 361. But, this is not a conversation about physical fitness, ice baths or extreme challenges but instead is a deep dive into how you can achieve success via good habits, patiently formed over time, because of a simple change in attitude. "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't - you're right." You can determine your success or failure by addressing your attitude towards difficult or unpleasant tasks, applying new actions over time and allowing positive habits to replace negative ones. Let's talk about it on the podcast today. This one might go viral.

Sports Metaphors For Success #SaturdayMorningHustle
Nearly one week after the 2024 Super Bowl, let's talk about sports metaphors that can be used in any pursuit of excellence. Not lame "Layups" "Touchdowns" or "Game of Inches" metaphors but real wisdom from some of my favorite concepts, including...
1. Trust the process 2. Lessons learned from setbacks and losses 3. Never let the same team beat you twice 4. Creating a culture of winning 5. Ain't over until it's over 6. Teamwork and Sportsmanship.
Bonus quote from a sports G.O.A.T. Muhammad Ali: "I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion. Don't count the days, make the days count."

The new year is the best time to make a plan, set goals and get to work. Too many people fall victim to their own procrastination. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, but the second best time is right now. You can't wait for the perfect time or scenario. You just have to go for it. Tips on how to get (and stay) started. 1/13/18 The Blank Page Theory. We discuss the process all creative professionals go through. Start with a blank sheet of paper. Write down where you are, point A. At the other end of the paper, write down where you need to be, point B. This can be used for creating art, design or solving a problem. Now, start adding to your point A. What do you have in place (assets), what are you trying to accomplish, why are you doing it, etc. Then, do the same for point B. What's the finished product? A painting, a brochure, a website, a better mousetrap maybe? Now, without preconceived notions or "how we've always done it" excuses start connecting A to B. This is the what, how, when, etc. in problem solving. Everything starts with nothing. No BS or reasons why you can't do it. Just work towards your goal. 1/20/18 Maximize Your Work Week. The best way to get the most out of your Monday through Friday 9-5 grind is to be prepared and organized. SaturdayMorningHustle is the perfect time to prep for the week ahead. That's what I do. How To Manage Your Budget T.E.A.M. #SaturdayMorningHustle
Let's have a conversation about the elements necessary to create and manage a successful budget. There are four items you need to know. I call this your budget T. E. A. M. = Time, Effort, Attention, Money. You need all of these items to be managed correctly in order to properly manage a budget, execute on a budget and create the positive impact necessary to justify your budget. If you approach your budget in this way, don't just look at dollars and cents. Don't just do math. Don't focus only on money. We do that last. Focus on how much time can be allotted, how much effort can be applied during that time, how much attention is needed for that effort to be productive, and how much money will it take to start the process. How much money will it take to manage the process? How much money will we receive through the conversion process and how much money is left (profit). Be The Mentor You Needed #SaturdayMorningHustle
You have the opportunity right now to be the person you previously needed. Maybe when you were 15, 25, or even 40 you were looking for a mentor. You were looking for someone to answer questions. You now could be that person for someone else. You can be available to someone else. You can help others no matter how old you are, no matter how much experience you have, no matter your station in life.
Whoever you are and wherever you are in life, you can benefit someone else who needs your experience and education, the opportunities you have seized upon and what you've learned from them. Most importantly, the lessons you have learned from your failures. That's right. When I say experience, I don't just mean the winning experiences but also the lessons that come from failures. We've all had more failures than success. I want you to know that. Everyone's had failures.
Many people hear the word mentor, and it's intimidating to them. They think to themselves, I can't be a mentor because I'm not the world's best at something. You might think you don't need a mentor because you are highly skilled or have experience. Both of those are false assumptions.
Anyone and everyone can be a mentor and anyone and everyone can be mentored because we're all at different parts of our journey of success. We all know different things, have learned different lessons and have things to offer to those who have yet to reach the levels we have achieved.
Be the person you needed earlier in life. Be a great boss, be a great coworker, be a friend, be an example, be a mentor. Let's talk about it on the SMH podcast today!

Talk About What You Do In the Right Way #SaturdayMorningHustle
There's no worse regret than "I didn't know you did that." "I didn't know I could hire you for that." You have to tell people what you do for your job and profession, how you get paid, how you create value for others and how you help people with your professional services or products if it's something you genuinely believe in.
This is not a sales pitch or a conversion process. This is not ABC "Always Be Closing". This is a value conversation, which is much better.
Be brave enough to advocate for yourself, your business or brand. If you don't do it for yourself, no one else will. Talk about what you do or what you're working on casually, in an informational way. Be bold and talk about your business or side hustle. Talk about your goals. Talk about your band, art or social media account you're trying to build. Talk about a new degree you're working on because you want to change your career. Talk about things you want to do, get people involved, get people invested. Create relationships and then go from there with a potential for success.
You know me, I'm Kyle Golding. I'm not just the guy behind the Saturday Morning Hustle. I'm also the CEO and Chief Strategic Idealist for The Golding Group, an award-winning think tank of strategic planning, business process management, integrated marketing and public relations consultants. We work with your leadership team to develop strategy, determine the most effective action plans, then execute and measure.
We create processes, systems and protocols that can be measured, adjusted and repeated by incorporating data analysis, market trends and audience feedback in a two-way conversation.
Tell people what it is you do. Tell people how it's different than other options. Tell them the value that you create. Tell them the audience you're looking for. Tell them who gets the best value out of your product or service, how you want to serve them, how you want to create for them, connect with them, build business relationships, etc...
Explain these things to people, but not in a sales pitch. Don't try to sell it directly to them. Just tell friends, tell family, tell casual acquaintances. When you're networking or at a holiday event, when you meet someone and they ask, "What did you do for a living?" don't just say you're in accounting, legal, medical, business, consulting, etc...
Tell them "I own a business; this is what we do. This is whom we serve." If the person listening finds value in that, you might have an opportunity, but they also might know someone or refer someone to your business. If you're going to be in business, if you're going to be a self-brand, if you're going to be a hustler, grinder or an entrepreneur, you got to be comfortable telling people who you are, what you do, the value you create, what's distinct about your business, what's good about doing business with you, why people should pay attention, why they should trust you. You have to be comfortable talking about it, not promotionally, not trying to make money, but being confident in what you do by connecting with people. Try to build relationships that eventually could lead to a business transaction. Put things in the correct order. Be confident. Be willing to do it for yourself, your business and your future success. Let's talk about it on the SMH podcast today!

Success From Change #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback Episode
A #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback to September 23rd, 2017. The key to business success is how you handle change. Winning comes from making small movements, not large pivots or failure to change at all. Business change can come from losing or gaining a client, losing your best employee or a new competitor entering your market. Do not overreact! Stick to your business plan, strategy and marketing tactics as long as you can until it's evident that you must make a change. The market will tell you when it's time for adjustments.
When you do make changes, do it concisely and decisively. Winning at business means being able to handle change better than the other people in your space. Adapt and adjust. You can't be the "flavor of the week" and try something new all the time, but you also can't stick to "this is how we've always done it" and never make adjustments. Choose a happy medium between the two concepts. Let's talk about it on the SMH podcast today!

Distinctions And Differences Of Entrepreneurs and Business Owners #SaturdayMorningHustle
Did you know this week was Global Entrepreneur Week? I attended multiple GEW events every day in Oklahoma City based on entrepreneurism about promoting, supporting and developing entrepreneurs here in Oklahoma as part of the GEW Global Entrepreneur Week. So today, I want to talk to you about the similarities, differences and misconceptions about what an entrepreneur is and what a business owner is, how they go together and how they are different.
A lot of people confuse, conflate and misuse the terms “entrepreneur” and “business owner” as something that is synonymous with each other. They feel like it's the same thing, and that's not exactly true. There are some distinct differences. So let's go through that today. Obviously, a lot of entrepreneurs are business owners.
I am an entrepreneur and I am a business owner. I started my first business when I was a teenager and I have continuously owned one or more businesses in the last 37 years since I started my first business at 15. When I started that first business, I didn't understand what being an entrepreneur was. I didn't know I was being an entrepreneur. I did not know what being entrepreneurial meant. But I eventually learned those things and now I have a really good grasp on what it means to be an entrepreneur. Let's talk about it on the podcast today!

Consistency Is More Important Than Inspiration #SaturdayMorningHustle
I hate to admit it, but there are days I don't feel motivated. I need more inspiration to do great things. But it's better to press through anyway. A bad day at work or a bad day on your hustle and grind, a lesser workout, a less productive afternoon... Whatever it is, it's still better than not doing anything.
A lack of motivation is temporary, but consistency is always beneficial. Just because you're not "feeling it" isn't a good reason to not do the work. Taking the first step is the most challenging part but the most essential.
But you do occasionally need to take breaks and recharge that hustle battery. So, how do we balance all this? What does it mean, and why am I telling you this? Let's talk about it on the podcast today!

Bedlam Is Bad For Business #SaturdayMorningHustle
In sports, it's good to focus on your competition and to have a game plan for beating them. It's also a lot of fun to add some good-natured animosity, rivalry and trash-talk between players and fans. But in business, that's all a waste of time and a diversion from what you should be focused on to be successful: your strengths/weaknesses, market position and value proposition to attract, convert and retain the best possible audience for how you do business and NOT beating your competition or winning a single sale.
Let's use the OU vs. OSU Bedlam football game today as a metaphor for what not to do in business. You don't have to be a sports fan to get value from this conversation. Give the episode a listen, then let's talk about it.

Importance Of Vacation #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback Episode
A #SaturdayMorningHustle Flashback to July 31st, 2021 talking with you about the value of utilizing vacation time while I'm on vacation (I'm at the lake for a 3-day weekend right now). Taking time off might seem foreign to most entrepreneurs (myself included) but there are plenty of reasons to take the occasional extended break. Not only is a vacation good for your physical and mental health, but it's also the perfect way to clear your head, reduce your stress, recharge your hustle battery and remind yourself why you work so hard to begin with. A planned pattern interrupt can help you be more productive with the hours you put in hustling and grinding. Let's talk about it!

Strategy Is More Important Than Company Culture #SaturdayMorningHustle
The statement that culture is more important than strategy is ridiculously wrong. It's backward, upside down and complete trash. Some very smart people say this a lot, but today I will tell you why they are wrong to consider strategy second and culture first. Because strategy always comes first! "Culture over Strategy" is one of those statements that drives me insane, and it's one of the few that make me come on the podcast and make an actual whole episode about it. I also covered this on my business podcast on the Strategic Growth Podcast https://bit.ly/StrategicPlaylist
We're talking about what's called corporate culture. I like to call it company culture because people sometimes think corporate culture means you need to be a corporation, which means you need hundreds or thousands of employees. Workplace or company culture can happen between 2 people or 7 or 10 or 42 or 90 or 5000. But you don't need hundreds or thousands of employees to have a workplace or company culture.
Every business starts essentially as an idea, typically an idea for a product. We call it the "back of the napkin" where someone pulls out a napkin or a scrap piece of paper and starts sketching or jotting down ideas or something about a product or service that eventually can be developed into a business model and then can be launched and put into the world.
That's where every business starts with a basic, most basic idea of what the product or service is. People don't necessarily identify what they do next as strategy, but it is. As soon as you start talking about your product (we will call it a widget) or your service, whatever it is that ultimately you're selling, you start asking questions: "Who's going to buy it? Who is this for? Who will appreciate our approach to doing what we're doing?"How are we going to sell it to them? What channels? What's the delivery? How are we going to charge them? How are we going to collect our money? How are we going to pay our people?
All of these questions that you ask yourself in the back of the napkin phase as to how to develop a product that can become a business, as you put a business model behind it all to structure and all the stuff that comes with it. All of those questions you ask are the beginning of the strategic planning process. That's strategy. You'll never develop a product, you'll never build a business model, you'll never build a business, you'll never successfully launch a business without a strategic process. Everything that comes after is based on the strategy, including your company culture.

Podcasting Is the Most Authentic Communication Format #SaturdayMorningHustle
In 2023, podcasting might be the most impactful, insightful and informative version of communication when you really need to better know, understand or trust someone you are considering collaborating with, hiring or working for. Formal interviews have restraints that the podcast format - solo, interview, group discussion, etc. - just doesn't have. Listening to someone speak on a subject in their own voice and without abundant assistance or notes, allows the listener to best gauge the subject matter expertise of the speaker, their command of the subject and/or their ability to authentically communicate to anyone in the conversation or just listening. Let me know if you agree, disagree or want to add to this conversation. It's Saturday, but I'm NOT in the office. Today I'm giving you permission to take a break and do something fun. Also, I'm sharing one of my favorite productivity tips. My advice: Take a break when you can to enjoy yourself. Then when you get back to work at 110%. My favorite productivity tip is... Sunday planning for Monday success. On the podcast today I will explain exactly how to do Sunday planning, how it benefits you on Monday morning and why that's so important. This is the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast. Listen while your competition is still sleeping (or at a football game). https://bit.ly/ListenToSMH

Ask For Help Soon and Often #SaturdayMorningHustle
One big mistake most entrepreneurs, business owners and leaders (myself included) often make is not asking for help. We default to the misguided idea that admitting to others we need advice, assistance or guidance is a sign of failure. But in fact, it's the exact opposite. Being open to help is the smartest thing we can do. Today's episode is a deep dive into a recent social media post on this idea. Let's talk about it.
"Friends who own businesses, ask for help. Don't wait until it's too late. Running a business is tough, even for the smartest and most experienced professionals. Ask your support system to buy, refer or collaborate. Let people help or (at least) offer advice when things START to get tough, not when you are completely out of options. This has happened to good friends recently, who could have been saved if they had only asked for help sooner."

Two of the highest rated episode of the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast at Goodpods.com are back-to-back shows from June of 2021 about empathy. Today we flashback to both episodes, because we can all use a little more empathy, understanding and change that comes from communicating with each other in better ways. We start with "We Need More Empathy in Personal and Business Life" (6/19/21) when I issued a Radical Empathy Challenge to everyone listening followed by "Action After Empathy" from the next week (6/26/21) detailing the value of acting upon the idea of empathy we had discussed the week before. Action is required. Change is an opportunity. Success comes from taking advantage of opportunities. Empathy + Action = Success. Let's talk about it! Gym Motivation Tricks For Business Success #SaturdayMorningHustle
Last month on the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast (Ep318 Priorities And Smart Sacrifices 6/3/23) I talked with you about going to the gym first thing in the morning, even though I hate going to the gym first thing in the morning. So why do I do it? I'm trying to prioritize my health, but also take advantage of an opportunity in my schedule and create good habits for myself. We talked about how that translates into business and other pursuits of success. Today I want to go back to that idea, but I want to talk more about the conversation that's "in your head" when you're actually at the gym. How can that be translated into any pursuit of success? Embrace The Suck #SaturdayMorningHustle
“Embrace the suck” began as a military expression. It can mean accepting a situation as it is and either working to change it or developing the perseverance to get through it. Entrepreneurs and business leaders can utilize this mindset to learn to deal with negative things or take the bad outcomes in stride. Success is built through a series of small actions, some fun and exciting but many suck. If you want to end up on top of the mountain, you must embrace the suck to get yourself there. Let's talk about it!

Lessons From OU Softball Domination #SaturdayMorningHustle
Today on the #SaturdayMorningHustle podcast, let's talk about the domination of the OU softball team. The University of Oklahoma women have just three-peated with three back-to-back-to-back national championships with a 50+ game winning streak, the longest ever.
