Joining me on the show today is actor Mark Armstrong. Mark has appeared on many stage and screen productions, best known for playing 'Spanner' in BBC One's 'Our Girl,' with the iconic catchphrase 'Boss.' Mark shared his journey into acting and the struggles which actors face particularly going months if not years without work, and how to build up the mental resilience to carry on and aim follow your ambitions. Being my favourite program of all time, we discussed Our Girl in great detail with Mark casually name dropping the likes of Michelle Keegan, Luke Pasqualino and Olly Rix, three massive fan favourites. It seems as if Mark has a funny little antidote for every part of his career, which made this another incredibly entertaining episode. If you put two Celts together, in this case a Scott and a Welshman they'll talk like there's no tomorrow and that's definitely what we did as this episode was like two mates having a catch-up. Look out for Mark's up-and-coming Podcast coming soon also!

Artist Mini James joined me on the show to talk all things music and mental health. You may recognize Mini's voice as he wrote, produced and performed The Schofield Stories intro & outro music which you hear on every episode. Despite being fairly new to the music industry, Mini is making his mark as an artist, developing his own style and producing a range of music. It was fascinating hearing how Mini got into music and the challenges he was and still is faced with in the music industry. We also talked about mental health, with regards to the struggles around stepping away from the crowd and what impact that can have. It was a great honour to find out a bit more about real James, rather than just the artist 'Mini James.' Check out theschofieldstories.com to find links to more music by Mini James!

It was an honour and great fun to interview someone as versatile and successful as Ricky, he was sharp and witty both on and off camera which made the episode a lot of fun. If you haven't checked out Ricky Glore, search him up on YouTube and you won't be disappointed!

Flat 12 Special

Flat 12 Special

If you're at university, why not do a podcast with your flatmates? This is arguably one of the funniest episodes I have ever recorded and we all had such a laugh doing this episode. It's not planned, it's not polished, and it's certainly not professional. We talk about everything from equal rights, to my questionable meal choices, to what we all want to do with our lives. But mainly, whatever the topic i ended up getting roasted by my flatmates and if that doesn't make you want to tune in, then I don't know what will. Join McLovin, Man's Comfy, Bland, KP, Big C, and Smokes as we discuss uni life and all that comes with it...

Disclaimer: strong language and themes listeners may find rude/offensive.

#11 Danyl Johnson: Not just "that bloke off The Postcode Lottery"

Danyl Johnson joined me on the show to share his story. Aged 27, Danyl entered The X Factor only to finish 4th and become a much loved contestant. Simon Cowell stated Danyl's audition was 'the best first audition' he's ever heard.  Since then Danyl has continued with his music career as well as becoming an ambassador and the face of The Post Code Lottery, everyday someone will sing "someone's knocking at the door" to Danyl. It was fascinating to hear about how much work goes into both The X Factor and The Post Code Lottery behind the scenes which we as the audience don't see. It was a great honour to hear meet and interview Danyl and I can honestly say it felt like speaking to a mate. A great light-hearted episode not to be missed!

University Special

University Special

University can be a challenging time for everyone, especially those with a stutter. I myself am starting university this year, and thanks to Stop Holding Back and The Starfish Project I'm in the perfect mindset and cannot wait to get started, but unfortunately this is not the case for everyone. So, The Schofield Stories University Special is here to provide an insight and advice to people who stutter starting university, to hopefully shed some light on what seems to be a daunting time. Here we talk about non-avoidance, what to do during lectures, and what to say to your flatmates. A lot of the advice included is advice I've been giving and will be giving myself throughout the university experience, as what I'm practically doing is going in head first and not holding back, in order to embrace the whole experience, but also to share with everyone the good, the bad, and the ugly.

#10 Tom Bosworth: Speed Walking your way to The Olympics

#10 Tom Bosworth: Speed Walking your way to The Olympics

Olympic Speed Walker/Race Walker Tom Bosworth joined me on the show to share his story. We had a great discussion about sport, mindset and how Tom went from finishing last in all his races to becoming a British and World Champion purely through training, dedication and persistence. Tom has broken and set numerous British and World Records, as you'll find out by listening more records than I could keep up with. As well as being a successful athlete, Tom made history in 2015 by being the first openly gay Team GB Track and Field athlete; so we had a great talk about what that means to Tom and how there is still a stigma surrounding sexuality and sport. It was an honour meeting Tom and wish him all the best for the Olympics in Tokyo 2021.

#9 Kane Patterson: Once an addict, always an addict?

#9 Kane Patterson: Once an addict, always an addict?

The Schofield Stories has reached Australia with Kane Patterson joining me on the show. Kane shares a moving and unbelievable story about his ongoing battles with drugs. Beginning by taking drugs as a child with his own mother, this arguably set Kane up for a life of addiction and struggle. Homelessness and drug dealing followed over the years. It came to a 'make or break point,' where Kane knew he had to turn his life around. Despite now being a personal trainer, podcaster, and fitness fanatic; Kane still states he craves drugs and will forever be an addict in his own eyes, even down to dreaming about drugs. Kane's story really opened my eyes about not just drugs but the long, challenging road to recovery. This story of resilience and struggle is inspiring and needs to be listened to.

#8 Danny Posthill: How many impressions can you fit into one podcast? (Unfiltered)

Comedian and Impressionist Danny Posthill joins me on the show to share an insight into his career as an impressionist. You may recognize Danny from getting to the final of Britain's Got Talent, as well as appearing in Panto, and touring the UK and abroad. This is by far one of the funniest episodes I've ever recorded, Danny talks about how he got into impressions, the turbulence of having a career in the entertainment industry, and some of his best and worst moments on the comedy circuit. To me, this episode felt like two mates talking and having a laugh, which is why this episode is 100% authentic as I couldn't bring myself to edit out any parts. Prepare for impressions of Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Steve Irwin, Michael McIntyre, Sylvester Stallone, Nigel Farage, Joe Pasquale, Sarah Millican, and many more...

#7 Neil Bresnan: "I never thought I could speak on a podcast..."

#7 Neil Bresnan: "I never thought I could speak on a podcast..."

Neil Bresnan joined me on the show to tick off appearing on a podcast from a very special bucket list. Neil has suffered from a stutter for all his life, and therefore it has held him back in many ways, leading him to believe there are certain speaking situations Neil believed he would never be able to speak in. However, after listening to an episode of The Schofield Stories featuring speech coach Chase Gillis, Neil was encouraged by loved ones to reach out to Chase and ask for help with his speech. Fast forward down the line and Neil is doing things he never thought was possible. A few days ago I got a text from Chase (who's a good friend of mine) and stated one of his clients wants to appear on a podcast, and of course I was more than happy to help. Being given the opportunity to listen to Neil's story is truly humbling, and the fact he was a fan of The Schofield Stories, an episode inspired him to reach out, and now Neil is on as a guest himself is why not only I do what I do, but why I love it!

#5 Dane Baptiste: Don't take yourself too seriously

#5 Dane Baptiste: Don't take yourself too seriously

Comedian Dane Baptiste joined me on the show to talk about his career, being a black person in comedy, and what life was like before venturing into comedy. Dane has hosted Live at the Apollo, performed at the London Palladium, completed world-wide tours, and even had his own show on the BBC- Sunny D (Available on BBC iplayer). Dane's messages about staying humble, treating people with respect, and not taking yourself too seriously are inspiring and can relate to anyone. Stories of kindness and respect are part of the reason Dane has been so successful in his career, as well as the strong mentality and mindset he possesses. Before we even started recording, myself and Dane had a very in-depth discussion about race, and how the concept of race varies across the UK, we both shared out views and experiences , it was fascinating to hear how shielded my life has been, coming from a predominantly white Welsh valley's area compared to Dane's background. Dane did not just speak about himself, but also about equality and some key messages which everyone should hold onto. This episode has the ideal mix of comedic entertainment and serious talk. A MUST listen!

Note from the host: I have to say, Dane is an absolute gentleman and as the host, it felt like I was talking to a friend, as oppose to interviewing one of my favourite comedians.

#4 Taylor Pattinson: Anxiety is like stubbing your toe...

Host of the Waffle Shop Podcast (check it out!) Taylor Pattinson joins me on the show for a heart felt and incredibly in-depth discussion about mental health. Taylor shared some very personal stories and experiences which involve life-changing moments. Talking openly about what he has been through took a lot of strength, and I left the episode not just motivated but also with a new mate. The Waffle Shop Podcast is one of my favorites to listen to, so hearing the story behind it and where it came from was fascinating. This episode is what The Schofield Stories is all about, two men having a open and honest conversation, but most importantly having fun. Taylor has gone through and is still going through some serious hardships and struggles, but his attitude is admirable. For anyone struggling, whether it's doubt, anxiety, insecurities, whatever it is this episode is for you.

#3 Tom Price: Give yourself that bit of credit

Actor and Comedian Tom Price joined me on the show to discuss his successful career in acting and comedy. Tom is best known for playing fan-favourite PC Andy in the hit series Torchwood. Tom has taken his comedy to the Edinburgh Festival, as well as playing comedic roles in TV shows such as Tourist Trap (BBC) and Stella (Sky 1). We talk about the journey Tom took in his career, and how overcoming doubters and personal insecurities were key to his success. The mentality and mindset needed to be successful is general was something I personally took from the episode. On personal note, we also had a chat about my story and how I went from being caged by a stutter to hosting a podcast, believe me, having someone you've watched growing up show an interest in you is a pretty bizarre yet brilliant moment. Tom is a down to earth, great man who I had the pleasure of interviewing, you can't fault a conversation between two Welsh lads!

#2 Nick Dunn: Surviving 4 Years of Hell

#2 Nick Dunn: Surviving 4 Years of Hell

Former Paratrooper Nick Dunn was working a security job in India, but that simple job turned into a tragedy and no doubt one of the worst miscarriages of justice in the modern day. Nick was part of the Chennai Six, six British men arrested and imprisoned for four years in India. Their crime? Nothing. These men were not falsely accused, and there was no misunderstanding, they were simply arrested for doing their jobs and because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Nick joins to me to share his story, from selection for the Parachute Regiment, to extreme confrontation in a prison which nearly had dire consequences. Nick's journey of determination and mental resilience is inspiring, and put's everything into perspective, especially with the current climate. Nick's book 'Surviving Hell' is available on Amazon and from major retailers such as Waterstones and Asda. This episode left me with a lot to think about, and I cannot thank Nick enough not only for sharing his story but his service to his country. This thrilling interview, which will pull on your heart strings, is no doubt a MUST listen!
