Do you like board games? We do too! Especially when we can play them with our families. Well do we have a game to share with you! Cody, Erik and I got a chance to speak with Charlie McKinney, President of Sophia Institute Press. We spent a little time getting to know Charlie, where he is from and what exactly he does as president, and then we talked about Sophia's cool board game: The Journeys of St. Paul! Erik even set up the game on Roll20 so we could all play the game together!!! What an awesome interview!!! https://sophiainstitute.com/ Sophia products mentioned on the show https://sophiainstitute.com/product/journeys-of-st-paul/https://sophiainstitute.com/product/everythings-coming-up-rosie/https://sophiainstitute.com/product/the-habsburg-way/ Scott's Publishing Company https://www.holywaterbooks.com/ Codex Sinaiticus https://codexsinaiticus.org/en/manuscript.aspx Tokens used for our TTRPGs https://itch.io/profile/zeshio Do you want to bedeck yourself in your #1 galactic source for quality Catholic nerdery? Hey! Its Erik Dumont going solo for this episode.
A while back, I met one of the coolest priests, so of course I had to get him on the show. I invited Fr. Tony Smela on for an interview to talk about his story of answering the call to the priesthood, as well as talking about our favorite subject: video games. He's got his own podcast too, so when you're done here, check out the Flint Catholic Podcast on Spotify as well as on Youtube.

Episode 42: Bill Donaghy & the Lord of the Rings Nerds
Just another epic Catholic Nerds Lord of the Rings nerd-out. No big deal. Except we were joined by Mr. Big Deal, himself, Bill Donaghy. Bill is the Senior Lecturer and Content Specialist of the Theology of the Body Institute (www.TOBinstitute.org), Co-Author of RISE (www.MenRiseUp.org), and Editor for STRIVE (www.STRIVE21.com).
Join us for a discussion on the beautiful sacramental quality of Tolkien's writings. Have you ever caught a glimpse of Middle-Earth out of the corner of your eye? Do you know what we mean? A glimpse of Heaven? The "gray-rain curtain" of this world thins for a moment, and you see the golden light of Heaven piercing the veil. Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich said that Eden was always just beyond her vision, but she caught a glimpse now and then. For Tolkien nerds like us, Middle-Earth will forever color our perception of Heaven.
BONUS: Our Top Pipeweeds of Middle-Earth (we're talking tobacco here, not that other stuff): Tolkien's and C. S. Lewis' Top Pipe Tobaccos.
Here is Bill's upcoming course on C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. 60 students have already registered! Reserve your spot now for November 5!

Episode 40: Rings of Power Nerd Review
The Good, Bad, and the Idiocy -- another Good ol' fashioned Catholic Nerd-Out about the newest cinematic offering from the Tolkien Universe: Amazon's The Rings of Power. So many things to love. Alas, so many more things to grunt and grumble about. Here are our Top 5 Love & Top 5 Hate of the Rings of Power. Here are some of the many topics we dive into:
[SPOILER ALERT!!]
- When we figured out which character was Sauron
- The ret-conning catastrophe of the Silmarils and mithril, "The Song of the Roots of Hithaeglir," based on Amazon not having copyright to any of The Silmarillion
- The weird Rube-Goldberg machine creation of Mount Doom and Mordor and how pyroclastic flow works or doesn't work ...
- Howard Shore returns! sort of ... the God of War composer, Bear McCreary
- What's next? Charlie Vickers' accidentally lays out the entire plotline of the next 4 ROP seasons in a Vanity Fair interview, plus Pharazon and the rise of Sauron/Satan worship in Numenor (how will they make this anti-Christian?)
- The screenwriters, J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay, and their unfortunate "mystery-box" J. J. Abrams style of writing
- The non-Catholic paganism/animism mutation of the Tolkien mythos
- "One does not merely ..." try to mimic Tolkien's writing; stupid lines abound

Episode 38: Countering the "Transgender" Narrative with Walt Heyer, Formerly "Transgender" Witness to the Horror of Gender Therapy
Attention Parents!! Nerd out about the insane and insidious language of gender ideology and how to fight back! with Walt Heyer. Meet Walt, a living, breathing witness to the horrible wrongness of transgenderism. Walt lived for 8 years as a woman – Laura Jensen – despite the fact that he was a man. For the last 30 years since transitioning away from his persona of Laura, he has worked courageously to counter the transgender narrative that you can change genders. Walt received the 2022 Ruth Institute Witness of the Year Award for his work with individuals with gender incongruence.
You can't change your gender! ... only the language. Parents contact Walt for help all the time. Parents write him saying, "My son is transgender; he's transitioning; and he's got gender dysphoria." Walt answers, "He is not transgender; he isn't going to transition; and he doesn't have gender dysphoria. Let's find out what's really wrong." Walt doesn't use *their* language and when he stops using their language, he finds out what's actually wrong. 100% of the time.
Stay tuned for Walt's 3 Big Questions for people with gender confusion. #1: Why do you want to destroy who you are? #2 ... #3 ...

Episode 37: Pro-Life Nerds & Rev. Arnold Culbreath on the Leading Cause of Death for Black America
Nerd out about pro-life issues with the C-Nerds and Pastor Arnold Culbreath of Peoples Church in Cincinnati, OH, the Director of Ministry Engagement of the Douglass Leadership Institute, whose Jeremiah 1:5 Project is boldly converting and training black pastors to "reverse the curse" of Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger.
PLUS, Arnold is joined by his wife Barbara, who shares her amazing story with us. Rev. Culbreath cut his teeth in the Pro-Life movement working with the legendary Dr. Jack Wilke.
We talk about navigating post-Roe America, the opportunities and continuing challenges.
Here are the super important stats and takeaways from this with Rev. and Mrs. Culbreath:
- Abortion is the leading cause of death in the black community: Add up all the black deaths attributable to heart disease, violent crimes, accidents, diabetes, and cancer. The total does not exceed the black deaths attributable to abortion.
- We have aborted an entire nation's worth of black people: 19 million black people have been killed in abortion since Roe v. Wade out of 63 million total. According to the US Census, there were only 18,871,831 black people in the USA in 1960. More blacks have been killed in abortion than the total population of black America in 1960.
- 79% of Planned Parenthood's surgical abortion facilities are located within walking distance of African American or Hispanic/Latino neighborhoods. Check out the map at ProtectingBlackLife.org
- 72-75% of fatherlessness in the black community, nationwide
- Check out the movie: Maafa 21: Black Genocide in 21st Century America
- Forgiven and Set Free and Healing a Father's Heart - the programs mentioned for healing post-abortive mothers and fathers, respectively
- Colby's pro-life organization: The DesOrmeaux Foundation of Lafayette, Louisiana

Episode 36: Parenting Nerds Protecting Kids from the Gender Cult with Dr. Erin Brewer and Maria Keffler
The Catholic Nerds nerd out with Dr. Erin Brewer and Maria Keffler about protecting our kids from the plague of gender confusion and gender reassignment surgery. Dr. Erin Brewer and Maria Keffler are the co-founders of Advocates Protecting Children and will be honored as the Activists of the Year at the 2022 Ruth Institute Summit.
- Erin and Maria are the authors and co-authors of lots of great books! Erin wrote a children’s book, Always Erin; Transing Our Children; Desist, Detrans, & Detox: Getting Your Child out of the Gender Cult. Together, they created the devotional Gentle Leadings, as well.
- Erin and Maria created the video series and book: Commonsense Care for Parents and Teacher Talks for Educators. This great video series is available on YouTube for FREE!!
- Erin and Maria co-founded Advocates Protecting Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting the gender industry, and especially its predation on children in the form of unethical social and medical transition for the sake of political and financial profit. APC serves and supports churches, schools, organizations, families, and individuals who seek facts and guidance on responding to gender ideology and activism.
- Maria Keffler got involved in the fight against transgender ideology during the fights against the left-wing political agenda of the Virginia school boards in Arlington and elsewhere
- Here's the YouTube Transgender Training video with the extremely long gender introduction from "demi-woman" Maybe Burke. We laughed and cried discussing this in the podcast. Can you imagine a future world where introductions are so long and tedious that we never talk about anything?

Episode 33: Book of Boba Fett Nerds - Boba Fine or Boba Fail?
The Catholic Nerds are big Star Wars nerds! We also promise not to mention Chris Rock and Will Smith. We review the much-reviewed Book of Boba Fett - was it a Boba Fail or Boba Fine? Let's also get philosophical and existential about Disney Plus and Disney, in general. Do Dave Filoni and Kevin Feige deserves Oscars or an Oscar Slap? Dang, we just promised, too.
The Catholic Nerds also review the Star Wars Animated Universe: Clone Wars and Rebels. How does this all fit into The Mandalorian, the story of Din Jarin? And how about Ming-Na Wen's Fenic Shand? Lastly ... what about that deep fake? Huh?
NOTE OF LITTLE NOTE: Scott was unable to join the C-Nerds for this episode, because - despite his abiding love for all things Star Wars (even the crud like the Star Wars Christmas not Holiday Special, being our first intro to Boba Fett btw) - Scott is committed to Exodus 90 and couldn't see the remaining Book of Boba Fett episodes.

The Catholic Nerds have a special nerd-out session for the Feast of St. Joseph! We share newly discovered Biblical evidence on the age of St. Joseph - this comes from Dr. Brant Pitre's new series on St. Joseph, The Hidden King: The Jewish Roots of St. Joseph. Not only that! We also cover Santo Anello, Mary and Joseph's wedding ring; the Holy House of Loreto; the Miraculous Staircase of Loretto; AND the anti-communist origins of St. Joseph the Worker!
Here is the full article from Scott's blog if you would like to follow along: Was St. Joseph an Old Man or a Young Man? How Old was St. Joseph When He Married Mary? The Bible Tells Us St. Joseph's Exact Age.

Episode 30: Exodus 90 Nerd Interview with Nathaniel Binversie
Are you ready to LIVE DIFFERENT?? The Catholic Nerds nerd-out about EXODUS 90 with a developer and author of Exodus 90, currently touring the country in the Exodus 90 tour bus ... Nathaniel Binversie! We go over the history and background of Exodus 90, how to reach men in their 20s and 30s using the "beer garden" approach and challenging men.
- Who dreamt up this idea of cold showers? Nathaniel talks about the spiritual originator of Exodus 90, Fr. Brian Door, who developed the first list of disciplines as a formation program for seminarians.
- Fraternity: Nathaniel shares some Exodus 90 tie-ins with The Chosen show.
- Why Exodus? Why not the Babylonian Captivity? Or riding on Noah's Ark? Nathaniel describes why the Exodus of the Israelites is especially powerful and relevant for the liberation and purification of men in today's world.
- Where is the program going 3-5 years from now? From just the book, to the Exodus 90 App, to ... where? Nathaniel describes the 20 Spiritual Exercise programs that Exodus 90 has developed. And no ... the entire journey through salvation history does not require cold showers.
- Already done Exodus 90 multiple times? Nathaniel Binversie describes the new, 2nd version of Exodus 90 for veteran retreatants.
- Want to do Exodus 90 as father and son? Try the Truth of St. George program!
- Is Exodus 90 strictly for Catholics? Exodus 90 doesn't actually include the word "Catholic" anymore, so to present a unifying message to non-Catholics ... without compromising on authentic Catholic masculinity.
- Nathaniel's tour through Slovakia: Did you know Slovakia is 60% Catholic? Nathaniel was about to tour Slovakia and export Exodus 90 to our Catholic brothers over there. His also visited the Salesian Oratory of Saint Don Bosco.
- And ... if Nathaniel had a billboard to put anything on it, what would he put?
- And ... what is the book Nathaniel most often gifts to people, besides his own book, The Strongest Man I Know.

Episode 28: Dune Nerds, The Theology of Dune, New Dune vs. 1984 Dune Movie Review
The Catholic Nerds do a deep dive into the Theology of Dune as they review the new Dune movie directed by Denis Villeneuve. SPOILERS AHEAD! We go through all the Christian symbolism of Dune, plus all our favorite parts from both the 2021 Dune and 1984 Dune -- all the 1980s goodness of the 80s Dune and all the good newness of the new Dune.
Scott wrote an article a while back on the Theology of Dune, all its Christian symbolism, and references to the Bible. It's now ranked #1 on Google and all the search engines on the subject, and Scott has expanded it into an entire book, The Theology of Sci-Fi: The Christian's Guide to the Galaxy, available where all good books are sold ;)
Here is a brief primer on all the references to Jesus and the Bible in Frank Herbert's Dune:
- Of course, the Kwisatz Haderach, Muad'dib, Paul Atreides as Christ and Messiah;
- The Fremen desert dwellers as the Jews and Israelites;
- Baron Harkonnen as King Herod and Pharaoh;
- Lady Jessica as the Blessed Mother, the Sayadina/Sayyida in not just Catholicism, but Islam, as well (read more on that here);
- Shai Hulud and the Sandworms as Satan and the dragon/serpent of Genesis;
- AND did you know the Bible is actually in the Dune universe??
ALL THAT, plus updates on our families surviving a Category-5 Hurricane and all our new babies! St. Gerard, pray for us!

Episode 27: Black Widow, the Nerd Review
It's Black Widow time! Serious SPOILER alert as the Catholic Nerds review the latest Marvel installment, at least until Scarlet Johansson's lawyers remove the movie from this timeline and multiverse. So, yes - we check in with the Scarlet vs. Disney lawsuit and how they might handle the release of Black Widow on Disney+ Premium. Then, the C-Nerds deal with interesting items, like who is our favorite member of the Romanoff family unit:
- Is it David Harbour of Stranger Things awesomeness, the Red Guardian? Did he really fight Captain America? Is old Captain America really Stan Lee?
- Or is Momma Melina Vostokoff, played by Rachel Weisz, the Iron Maiden? What's more, the owner of a herd of kunekune pigs??
- Then, there's the real star Yelena Belova, played by the always scene-stealing Florence Pugh? And don't forget that Easter egg scene at the end with Countess Valentina, played by the hysterically awesome Julia Louis-Dreyfuss! Did this directly set up Disney Plus’ stand-alone Hawkeye TV show, in which Florence Pugh will star alongside Jeremy Renner? Is it hinting at something more sinister, like Red Skull being behind Countess Valentina?? AND does the TVA from the Loki series really spell VAL, upside-down?
- OR, is it Black Widow, herself, Natasha Romanoff?
Was Black Widow "just like Budapest all over again"? And how did Marvel do tying up all those references to Black Widow's past?

Episode 26: Is Britney Spears Catholic Now?
The Catholic Nerds dig into the crazy world that is ... Britney Spears!
Just when you thought the world couldn't get any weirder, this happened:
American pop star Britney Spears announced in a now-deleted Instagram post on Aug. 5 that she is Catholic and attends Mass. In a post made Thursday evening, Spears, 39, shared two videos. In one, she is seen posing in a pair of jean shorts and a sweater. In the second, she is shown twirling in a blue dress with flowers. In her caption, Spears said, “Pssss as for the next video … I just got back from mass … I’m Catholic now … let us pray 🙏🏼 !!!”
Also, Britney Spears' mother Lynne Spears, sister Jamie Lynn, and nieces Maddie Aldridge and Ivey Joan Watson, are all practicing Catholics. Jamie Lynn joined the Church fairly recently and also posted on Instagram about it. As a part of her since-removed 2018 year in review Instagram story highlight, Jamie Lynn posted a picture on her Instagram dated Feb. 18, 2018, captioned “pregnancy + RCIA. Worth it.” They were posing in that picture with OUR VERY OWN LOUISIANA BISHOP EMERITUS Bishop Robert Muench! What a crazy world.

Episode 25: The Mischief of Loki and the Motu "Inapproprio" (Motu Proprio Traditionis Custodes)
The Catholic Nerds dive into the chaos of the "Motu Inapproprio", Pope Francis' new instruction on the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) and its possible effects. Pope Benedict XVI had given priests the option to celebrate the Latin Mass or Extraordinary Form (EF) of the Mass. Now, priests need their bishop’s permission, even if it’s an EF-hating bishop. Is Pope Francis attempting to foster unity by sowing division? Does that work?
Then, to turn their minds to happier, more gentle territory, the C-Nerds delve into the [SPOILERS] multiverse of madness from awakened by Loki Season One. What's your favorite moment from Loki Season 1? We decide on our favorite Loki - is it Richard Grant's "Classic Loki", Croc Loki or "Croki", "President Loki", Loki Prime, or Sylvie Loki? We discuss Owen Wilson's Mobius and how time is described as a "Mobius strip" ... like Iron Man realized in Avengers: Endgame.
Did you notice all the crazy Easter Eggs in the intro to Loki Episode 6? There's a zoom out like in the sci-fi movie Contact; black holes expanding and contracting cycle (even though Stephen Hawking’s Big Crunch theory is widely panned now); Neil Armstrong, Greta Thurnberg (why??), Maya Angelou, and a random spaceship? Is it the X-Men's ship or the Fantastic Four's? And then that lovely quote from Vision: “What is grief, if not love persevering?”
To the comics! The C-Nerds compare Renslayer and He Who Remains to their comic equivalents, Ravonna Renslayer and Kang the Conqueror, respectively. Episode 6 shows us that Judge Renslayer was originally the principal of FDR high school in Ohio where her diploma reads “Rebecca Tourminet”, possibly a reference to her comic equivalent "Terminatrix". In the comics, Ravonna Renslayer was the daughter of King Carelius, a ruler in the 40th century Earth. The kingdom of Carelius was the last bastion of civilization unconquered by Kang the Conqueror in that time period. Also, where does Renslayer go when she leaves Mobius?
Who is He Who Remains? Is he Kang the Conqueror? How about that apple He Who Remains was eating? Is this a reference to Genesis and Eden? Is He Who Remains the serpent or the dragon, tempting the new Adam and Eve of Time, Loki and Sylvie? Here's more on the serpent of Eden actually being a dragon. And what about the question of Free Will? The Catholic Nerds dive into all these theological nuggets!

Episode 24: NerdVision, WandaVision Review and Sequel Fan Theories
Hello and welcome to the Catholic Nerds Podcast - your Maximoff source for quality, Catholic nerdery! The C-Nerds dig into all things WandaVision:
- What will the WandaVision sequel be about? Plus, the Doctor Strange 2 sequel, 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and how Agatha Harkness connects all these, plus the Fantastic Four
- All the WandaVision commercials! Like the Nexus commercial - is Wanda the "Nexus of All Reality" from the comics?
- The Darkhold - In the comics, the Darkhold was created by the Elder God Chthon, who gave Wanda her powers through the Chaos Magic. Chthon has possessed Wanda multiple times, prompting her mentor, Agatha Harkness, to call a doctor for help. That doctor? ... DOCTOR STRANGE.
- All the Post-Credit Easter Eggs! (1) the Skrulls reveal and Monica Rambeau's strange new abilities, and (2) What’s Wanda up to next? Lounging in a cabin, levitating, and reading the Darkhold while hearing the voices of Billy and Tommy, calling out for help.
- Agatha Harkness - Is Agatha the connected to the upcoming Fantastic Four movie? Agatha was first introduced as the nanny to Reed and Sue Richards' kids and then became the mentor to the Scarlet Witch. And is her familiar ...
- Señor Scratchy - WandaVision director Matt Shakman talks about a deleted scene where Señor Scratchy's identity as her familiar and possibly her son is (maybe) revealed.
- The Ship of Theseus knock-out, drag-out philosophy battle
- Fake Pietro or Fietro! Was he really just Ralph Bohner all along, Agatha’s fake husband?
Also, did you know the different episodes of WandaVision coincide with the stage of grief?
Kevin Smith said, “this show ultimately is about how important it is to find somebody to watch TV with in this world”
The C-Nerds also discuss which character, comic book or otherwise, has the best Best Rogue’s Gallery. Here is the crazy Superman villian we talked about: Mister Mxyzptlk.

Episode 23: The Return of the Star of Bethlehem and its Hidden Meaning
Merry Christmas from the Catholic Nerds!
This will shed a whole new, beautiful “light” on Christmas and the Star of Bethlehem! As the “Great Conjunction” fills our night skies, the Catholic Nerds discover amazing prophecies of the Star of Bethlehem in the Old Testament. The Star of Bethlehem is the prophesied return of the Shekinah, the Glory Cloud, that “overshadowed” the Ark of the Covenant. And the Virgin Mary is the New Ark who carries the New Manna in her womb. The Star of Bethlehem “overshadows” the Holy Family as they travel to Bethlehem, guides the shepherds and Wise Men to the Nativity, and even explains why Mary rides a donkey!
Here is Scott's article explaining all the typology and hidden mysteries of the Star of Bethlehem, and how it all points to the New Ark - check it out!
Plus, here is more on Mary as the New Ark of the Covenant and all the references to the New Ark at the Visitation.
Mary is not just the New Ark of Moses - she is also the NEW ARK OF NOAH. Check out how this connects to Adam's skull being the Skull of Golgotha and Mt. Calvary, too.

Episode 22: 2020 Presidential Election Nerds
The Catholic Nerds tackle the one subject nobody seems interested in ... 2020 Presidential Election CHAOS! Yeah, we went there. The Catholic Nerds interview Chris Potter, the voice of Gambit in X-Men: The Animated Series, at the New Orleans Comic-Con. Chris also reveals to us his theory about David Carradine’s mysterious and untimely death. The Catholic Nerds talk about the Catholic side of Gambit, Remi Lebeau's Louisiana origins, and possible blood relation to a certain Catholic nerd, more or less … enjoy this live recording with Chris Potter, and sorry about the background noise :)

Episode 16: Wolverine is Catholic, Bud! Cal Dodd Interview
Bucket list … check.
The Catholic Nerds interview Wolverine! Cathal (Cal) Dodd, the voice of Wolverine in X-Men: The Animated Series (TAS), musician, Canada’s Molson man, and all around great guy and Catholic gentleman, hung out with the C-Nerds at the New Orleans Comic Con. Cal takes us from his Dublin birth home to his days in High School Seminary in Canada. He explains how he created the voice that became THE version of Wolverine, against which all others will forever be measured. Take that, Hugh Jackman. Cal also takes us back to the 70s and 80s when he toured with Joe Cocker, Three Dog Night, and Meatloaf!
Cal Dodd takes us deep into Wolverine's character, including his favorite episode, when Wolverine is converted by Nightcrawler’s Catholicism. Cal tells us who Wolverine’s true love interest was, too - was it Jean Grey? Storm? Mariko? He also answers the age-old question of whether Wolverine could have fought Cyclops for Jean and won.

Episode 14: Best Virus Pandemic Movies with Father Brent
Also, now introducing … Catholic Nerds Trivia!!! With fabulous prize awarded, intermittently and inconsistently, and also sufficiently over-branded.
Though for some inextricable reason, we never talked about Stephen King’s The Stand and The Seventh Seal, the C-Nerds (pronounced “Capital C Nerds) performed death-defying deep dives into I Am Legend and its predecessors Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price and Omega Man with Charleston (Charleton?) Heston; plus Contagion and all its weird, uncanny premonitions into the corona-virus pandemic; 12 Monkeys and The Andromeda Strain; and, regrettably, Sharknado. We investigated all the origins of these fictional viruses, like Maze Runner’s Flare, I Am Legend’s Krippin virus, and 28 Days Later’s Rage virus.
We also checked in with Father Brent - “Padre” - about parish and priest life in the midst of the pandemic, plus the Divine Mercy Novena and upcoming Novena to the Holy Spirit. We also asked Padre to digitally bless things and us.
Cody and Mary, who just had a home birth during the pandemic (!!!), shared their new GoFundMe for women who lack the insurance coverage to have a home birth and are wary of going to the hospital right now: www.gofundme.com/f/support-access-to-safe-births-during-covid-crisis
Plus, Scott showed us his and his wife’s newly published Catholic Prayer Journal for Women: Pray, Hope, and Don’t Worry available here: amzn.to/350hMdw
And here’s the generically Christian version, too: amzn.to/352kJKz

Episode 11: The Real Presence, Part One (Reload)
The Catholic Nerds nerd out on the greatest thing in the world … Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. According to a recent Pew survey, only 26% of Catholics believe in the Real Presence. That’s really, really bad, so the Catholic world freaked out a bit recently. Here’s a recent National Catholic Register article about that: www.ncregister.com/blog/msgr-pope/what-should-we-do-about-the-loss-of-belief-in-the-real-presence
So, here’s all the coolest stuff we know about the Real Presence. We start with Flannery O’Connor’s awesome quote on the Real Presence. Then, we go through the Bread of Life Sermon in John 6, as well as some great quotes from the Church Fathers, like St. Justin Martyr and St. Ignatius of Antioch. Here’s an article from my blog if you want the text of a lot of these quotes and deep dives into the Greek used in the Gospel: www.thescottsmithblog.com/2013/04/warning-you-may-turn-catholic-if-you.html
Also, join us for Part Deux, when we’ll go through all the most amazing Eucharistic miracles, including a new one … captured on video! … where the host turns to heart tissue and actually starts beating!!

Episode 9: The Rise of Nerdwalker
The Force is strong with this episode! Super special Star Wars episode … Join the Catholic Nerds for a nerd out of galactic proportions. The Nerds have lots of Star Wars news to process: The Rise of Skywalker trailer, the new Star Wars trilogy by Game of Thrones’ Benioff and Weiss, the death of Peter Mayhew, who played Chewie, and pro-abortion J. J. Abrams contributing his “Lovecraft Country” profits to fight Georgia’s “Heartbeat” Law.
Is Chewbacca finally going to get his medal? How will Emperor Palpatine come back and is Matt Smith playing him? Will Benioff and Weiss give us the Game of Thrones Star Wars via the Knights of the Old Republic? Will Benioff and Weiss survive Season 8 of Game of Thrones? Are they any good without solid source material (or even with it? See Benioff’s butchering of X-Men Origins: Wolverine … ouch)? Also, how about the trailer for the Mandalorian series? With J. J. Abrams giving his profits to pro-abortion, where should Catholics invest their money? Check out our sponsor, Holy Water Books, the publisher of Scott’s new book, Lord of the Rings and the Eucharist! https://www.holywaterbooks.com/

So many Marvel movies to nerd out about! The Catholic Nerds are preparing for the release of Avengers: Endgame by going over MCU Phase 2: Iron Man 3 (2013), Thor: Dark World (2013), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Ant-Man (2015). Also, we include The Office in the MCU Phase 2 due to all the crazy connections. What do Pam, Dwight, Michael Scott, and Robert California have to do with Marvel? As usual, many, many pro-life connections, too. Happy Easter!

Episode 7: The Avengers Awaken (and Assemble), Avengers: Endgame Countdown
It’s Lent in Avengers world, because half of everybody just poofed into ASHES! Are you ready for Avengers: Endgame??? The Catholic Nerds are counting down to the release of the final installment of the Avengers and the Infinity Gauntlet! Are you Catholic-worthy enough to wield Thor’s hammer? And by the way, did you know the myth of Thor was based on Jesus? Yes, that’s right. Jesus, not Captain America, was the original Avenger … or something like that. Here’s Scott’s full article on “Is Thor Jesus?”
Though we mostly try to forget the Hulk movies, the nerd-out covers all of Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), and Marvel's The Avengers (2012). And yes, we give Red Skull, Elrond, and Agent Smith - the amazing Hugo Weaving - lots of nerd love.

Episode 6: Unplanned Movie and Return of the Interview, Doug Johnson Interview
Unplanned! The Catholic Nerds have an epic, Fezzik-sized nerd out about the NEW pro-life movie Unplanned with Doug Johnson, or as he calls himself, Mr. Abby Johnson. Doug shares all the best behind-the-scenes details about Unplanned. There’s the R-rating. The cameos of Lila Rose and Mike Lindell, the MyPillow guy and clutch super-donor, AND former abortionist, Dr. Levatino, who was brought out of the abortion industry through Abby’s amazing organization, And Then There Were None (ATTWN).
How much more awesome Doug is than Abby’s first husband, who had a hive of bees living in his car??
AND you CANNOT miss the amazing Holy Spirit moment shared by Abby Johnson and Ashley Bratcher, who played Abby in Unplanned.
Oh, but there’s more! The Catholic Nerds and Doug follow an treasure map to 80’s gold. There is a Goonies, Sean Astin, Stranger Things, Lord of the Rings, Rudy nerd out, as well. Not to mention, there’s a CN-exclusive update to Doug’s ranking of the Marvel cinematic universe. The Star Lord, Chris Pratt, himself, makes several appearance, as well, as we all fellin’ in the pit of Parks and Recreation, Jurassic World, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Ah! So much more! … Treestars are found. Princess Bride meets Deadpool.
And Bacon. Bacon. Bacon! So good! Listen, comment, share, subscribe - all the things!

Episode 5: The Little Rascals Strike Back
The Catholic Nerds interview Zac “still the cutest gif ever” Mabry, a Catholic convert and child actor best remembered as Porky from The Little Rascals. Mabry, who hosts the Roman Circus Podcast (see below), talks about the moment that changed his life forever … the moment he was bitten by a radioactive Catholic spider in the catacombs of the Vatican necropolis ... or something like that.
Beware the giant rolling boulder and the Nazis - I hate these guys - and journey with the Catholic Nerds beneath St. Peter’s to the lost tomb of St. Peter, the Scavi tour. The Catholic crusade continues as the Nerds visit Mexico City, the Aztec Temples of Doom, and the woman who doomed them, Our Lady of Guadalupe.
“Whatcha Reading?” includes The Fisherman’s Tomb, The Graveyard Book, The Walking Dead, Spe Salve, article stalking of Zac Mabry, The Papal Monarchy, The Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar, Scott Hahn’s Understanding Our Father, and other completely homogenous topics. Oh, and there was hushed talk of ... Masons! They did not survive the Nerds’ Last Crusade. They chose poorly.

Episode 4: A New Soap?
The Catholic Nerds nerded out on … cleanliness? The Earth’s mightiest nerds tackle a new spate of pseudo-religious semi-feminist books: listen to the Catholic critique of Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis, Linda Kay Klein’s Pure: Inside the Evangelical Movement That Shamed a Generation of Young Women and How I Broke Free, and Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.
Face front, true believers! How should purity, chastity, masculinity and femininity, virtue and responsibility be taught to young people? And what about stuff? Why do we accumulate so much stuff - some Catholic Financial Advisor tips - and so little that actually means much? How do you tidy up the Catholic way? How do Catholic families limit the stuff, the crazy amounts of toys, to give them the gift of order? And how about Disney personifying and anthropomorphizing toys all the time?
Colby and Cody lament their Pokeman collections, while Scott laments Garbage Pail Kids, Pong, and 90s baseball cards. But our nerd-hearts will go on ...

Episode 3: Revenge of the Nerds
On-site reports have confirmed … a Catholic pro-life nerd-out happened here! A deep dive into Marvel’s Thanos and the economics of overpopulation spilled into the Covington Catholic non-controversy and the general awesomeness of March for Life. The Catholic Nerds also unpeeled the banana logic of the new New York infanticide statutes. In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight! Green Lantern: Blackest Night and Doctor Who enLIGHTened us with some pro-life quotes. The True Believers also covered the Rosary and Blessed Bartolo Longo’s Cathedral at Pompeii, plus Captain America’s “we don’t trade lives,” Just War, and Wakanda, not to mention the Philosophy of Villains!

Episode 1: The Podcast Menace
The Catholic Nerds wrangle with the 12 Days of Christmas and generally have no idea how to pick a theme song. Catholic parenting and getting kids to sleep was definitely discussed, as well.
