Welcome to the RCC points Of View Podcast, brought to you by the Scottish Residential Child Care Workers Online Forum. Each episode you will listen to  consists of the narrator interviewing someone with a point of view about residential childcare. For the first series we take a look at secure care an area of residential childcare that features within the recently published national care review & the subsequent publication entitled the promise.

In part one of the first episode I talk with Dr Ian Milligan, a retired academic who dedicated his working life to the field of residential childcare. In this episode Ian looks back at what influenced him during a career that seen Ian go from being a house parent in a Glasgow Children’s home during the early 1980s to a internationally recognised academic.

Ian charts the history of residential childcare & secure care, the national childcare review and what the promise says about the future of secure care.
