I'll See You In HELL!! A Podcast about movies that kick ass and take names!!!

By Nathan & Ollie

Two mediocre white guys, recall and review classic movies of the past and present. Try to imagine a conversation you might have with a 90s era video store clerk about what you should watch tonight. We WILL tackle films that won't often be discussed as Oscar worthy but are always considered entertaining. We will argue, agree and attempt to mimic accents of the most classic one liners and movie tropes. Come prepared to laugh and it is ALWAYS a good idea to listen after you have seen the film and not before.

The Last Starfighter (1984) - "Greetings Starfighter" - (Episode 77)

The Last Starfighter (1984) - "Greetings Starfighter" - (Episode 77)

It is hard to believe but Nathan had actually never seen this classic 1984 adventure film. We talk about what made us nostalgic and how the special effects could likely have been achieved with the very first iphone. It was a fun movie and a fun discussion.

Jan 11, 202401:04:07
Goodfellas (1990) - "As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster" (Episode 76)

Goodfellas (1990) - "As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster" (Episode 76)

How did it take us THIS long to talk about the greatest mob movie of all time. Natan and Ollie found no flaws in this epic masterpiece and discuss how much a part of the culture this movie has become.

Dec 29, 202359:05
Lethal Weapon (1987) - "I'm getting too old for this Sh*t" - (Episode 75)

Lethal Weapon (1987) - "I'm getting too old for this Sh*t" - (Episode 75)

We hope you like random saxophone solos. There is plenty to be had with this late 80s buddy cop classic. This is for sure the first movie I remember that included Gary Busey and definitely not his best.

Dec 12, 202301:01:19
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) - "Rats... Dad hates Rats" - (Episode 74)

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) - "Rats... Dad hates Rats" - (Episode 74)

The fellas finally publish an episode where they discuss the BEST Indiana Jones movie by far. The most entertaining, the most re-watchable and probably the funniest of the bunch?

Dec 12, 202301:03:27
True Lies (1994) - "Oh God, no, please don't kill me. I'm not a spy. I'm nothing. I'm navel lint!" - (Episode 73)

True Lies (1994) - "Oh God, no, please don't kill me. I'm not a spy. I'm nothing. I'm navel lint!" - (Episode 73)

This is one of those amazing Arnold films that was hilarious and filled with awesome action. This also had one of the greatest Bill Paxton parts of ALL TIME.
Jul 14, 202352:03
Tropic Thunder (2008) - "What DO YOU mean, 'you people!!'" (Episode 72)

Tropic Thunder (2008) - "What DO YOU mean, 'you people!!'" (Episode 72)

After a couple of failed attempts to get together to talk about this AMAZING COMEDY, Nathan and Ollie finally tuck in to this hilarious movie. This might be the last great ensemble comedy that was made fearlessly. I hope we are wrong as it is INCREDIBLE and we wish there were more of these.

Jul 14, 202301:13:03
Mission Impossible (1997) - "686 with artificial intelligence!?!?!?!" (Episode 71)

Mission Impossible (1997) - "686 with artificial intelligence!?!?!?!" (Episode 71)

After TOO LONG of a break, the boys are back to discuss the 1997 franchise launching classic, Mission Impossible. We discuss how funny it is to see what the internet was like and especially how much of a novelty it is to have an inbox with 1 or no messages.

Jul 10, 202301:02:12
Die Hard (1988) - “Ho..Ho..Ho...Now I have a Machine Gun.” (Episode 70)

Die Hard (1988) - “Ho..Ho..Ho...Now I have a Machine Gun.” (Episode 70)

The fellas welcome back Tony and Ollie's cousin all the way from Scotland to discuss this game changing movie, Die Hard. There have been many attempts to capture this magic on a plane, a train, a bus, at the White House and yet nothing has come close to the most unfortunate company Holiday party of all time.  Enjoy Nathan being wrong again about how this IS a Christmas movie.

Dec 24, 202201:28:57
Scream (1996) - “What's your favorite scary movie?” (Episode 69)

Scream (1996) - “What's your favorite scary movie?” (Episode 69)

Horror is not a genre that Ollie even enjoys but it turns out that Nathan actually studied it in college. In 1996 Wes Craven relaunched the category with this near flawless slasher film. When we both saw this movie, neither of us predicted the clever ending and the only negative we found was that this movie spawned TOO many sequels.

Dec 05, 202201:06:03
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) - “Marion, don't look at it. Shut your eyes, Marion. Don't look at it, no matter what happens!” (Episode 68)

Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) - “Marion, don't look at it. Shut your eyes, Marion. Don't look at it, no matter what happens!” (Episode 68)

It is impossible to think this movie was made in 1981. Nathan and Ollie dig into the best parts of this Spielberg epic and talk about what makes this character and story so good. This movie could be released today and be just as successful. They didn't have CGI so they had to try to make great characters and story without all of the toys.

Nov 22, 202256:17
Cliffhanger (1993) - “Suits, socks, 100 million dollars - the usual stuff" ” (Episode 67)

Cliffhanger (1993) - “Suits, socks, 100 million dollars - the usual stuff" ” (Episode 67)

Nathan and Ollie go deep into the insanely silly plot of this 1993 Sly Stallone romp. We wonder how it is possible that climbing equipment that can hold over 1,000 Lbs failed while holding up a woman that might have weighed 120 Lbs?

Oct 03, 202252:57
Willow (1988) - “Out of my Way, Peck!!” (Episode 66)

Willow (1988) - “Out of my Way, Peck!!” (Episode 66)

The fella's welcome back our good friend, Tony, to discuss this Val Kilmer / Ron Howard / Warwick Davis classic.  Tony does tons of great research on the history of this movie and he brings all the best stuff to the conversation.

Oct 03, 202201:12:37
Prey (2022) - “If it bleeds, we can kill it” (Episode 65)

Prey (2022) - “If it bleeds, we can kill it” (Episode 65)

The very first film we ever covered was the 1987 classic, Predator. Nathan and Ollie were thrilled to be able to revisit this character with the INCREDIBLE new Hulu film, Prey. We wonder why they didn't release it in theaters as the action and scenery is that good.

Aug 26, 202201:05:20
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (2019) - “You are Rick F#cking Dalton!!” (Episode 64)

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (2019) - “You are Rick F#cking Dalton!!” (Episode 64)

Not much needs to be said... this movie is incredible. We welcome Jason back to discuss it and were surprised to learn that he would have enjoyed it more if he actually knew it was about the Manson murders.

Aug 26, 202201:22:11
The Boondock Saints (1999) - “Well, we'll have to check with your mom.” (Episode 63)

The Boondock Saints (1999) - “Well, we'll have to check with your mom.” (Episode 63)

After a bit of a break, the boys are back to discuss one of Nathan's favorite films. This 1999 gangster / vigilante film did terrible at the box office but quickly gained success through word of mouth. Ollie hated this movie but Nathan and his brother enjoyed going into great detail about what they enjoyed most about this film.

Aug 26, 202201:07:18
Nobody (2021) “I'm a good man, a family man, most of all I am a man that didn't deserve your gun in his face” (Episode 62)

Nobody (2021) “I'm a good man, a family man, most of all I am a man that didn't deserve your gun in his face” (Episode 62)

Shortly after we met to discuss John Wick, We got together to discuss this other interesting attempt to capitalize on the success of the Wick series. This movie is fun, not long and enjoyable if you have not seen it.

Jul 10, 202201:05:09
John Wick - "How Good To See You Again So Soon, Mr. Wick.” (Episode 61)

John Wick - "How Good To See You Again So Soon, Mr. Wick.” (Episode 61)

Nathan, Ollie and Jason get together to dig into one of the great modern classic action movies, John Wick. We talk in detail about the world that was created for this amazing story and how it is a rare fact that the sequels are actually pretty damn good.

Jul 10, 202201:01:09
Olympus Has Fallen (2013) “Who said anything about negotiating?” (Episode 60)

Olympus Has Fallen (2013) “Who said anything about negotiating?” (Episode 60)

Long overdue posting of this 2013 action adventure. As usual, I loved it and Nathan hated it. At least he is consistent.
Jun 09, 202201:03:03
Top Gun (1986) - “I feel the need, the need for speed!” (Episode 59)

Top Gun (1986) - “I feel the need, the need for speed!” (Episode 59)

Long overdue conversation about this beach volleyball movie. Nathan and Ollie welcome Lau back to discuss this classic.
Jun 09, 202201:07:28
Fifth Element (1997) - "MulteeePasss!!!!" - (Episode 58)

Fifth Element (1997) - "MulteeePasss!!!!" - (Episode 58)

Of course Nathan doesn't appreciate this amazing film... What is wrong with him?  This movie could come out today and probably win at the box office in every theater in America.

May 11, 202255:09
Flash Gordon (1980) - "Flash! I love you, but we only have 14 hours to save the Earth!" - (Episode 58)

Flash Gordon (1980) - "Flash! I love you, but we only have 14 hours to save the Earth!" - (Episode 58)

Nathan, Jason and Ollie go deep into the catalog to talk about this insanely hilarious 80s classic. Flash!!! aaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!  Is there another movie that has as much campiness as this??

May 11, 202201:08:27
Sicario (2015) - "Welcome to Juarez" (Episode 57)

Sicario (2015) - "Welcome to Juarez" (Episode 57)

We got off of our typical era with this one. Ollie convinced Nathan to give this movie a shot and he actually didn't hate it. It was a great movie and gave the boys an opportunity to talk about one of the most exciting directors currently working, Denis Villeneuve.

Apr 13, 202201:02:25
Stripes (1981) - "You can't go, all the plants are going to die!" (Episode 56)

Stripes (1981) - "You can't go, all the plants are going to die!" (Episode 56)

Nathan and Ollie dig into one of the BEST Bill Murray films of all time. Ollie seems to believe that this is also one of John Candy's best roles. Give a listen to see if you agree.

Apr 13, 202201:08:46
Armageddon (1998) - “Harry, the clock on that nine-footnuclear weapon is ticking.” (Episode 55)

Armageddon (1998) - “Harry, the clock on that nine-footnuclear weapon is ticking.” (Episode 55)

Our sincere apologies for long delay in latest episode. Lots of good reasons for it.  This episode covers probably the most INSANE Michael Bay movie of all time and the fellas enjoy diving deep into this carefully crafted "plot"

Mar 22, 202259:13
Hunt for Red October (1990) - "Russians don't take a dump, son, without a plan." (Episode 54)

Hunt for Red October (1990) - "Russians don't take a dump, son, without a plan." (Episode 54)

Nathan accepts the challenge of watching this Tom Clancy story from the early 90s. To Ollie's great surprise, he doesn't hate the movie for not having any wizards, potions, trolls or hobbits.

Feb 15, 202201:08:00
Office Space (1999) - "Why Does It Say Paper Jam When There Is No Paper Jam!" (Episode 53)

Office Space (1999) - "Why Does It Say Paper Jam When There Is No Paper Jam!" (Episode 53)

This movie set the standard for humor and comedy that occurs in modern office environments. It is easily one of the most quoted movies of all time and we all know the frustration and emotion of "PC Load Letter".

Feb 09, 202201:03:58
The Matrix (1999) - "Ever have that feeling where you’re not sure if you’re awake or dreaming?" (Episode 52)

The Matrix (1999) - "Ever have that feeling where you’re not sure if you’re awake or dreaming?" (Episode 52)

After a longer than expected break, the boys are back talking about the 1999 film, The Matrix. This was the movie that everyone owned on DVD and EVERYONE used to show off their new sound system.  We welcome back Nathan's brother to discuss what pill we would pick.

Feb 03, 202201:14:52
A Christmas Story (1983) - “Fraa-jeel-aay! It must be Italian!” - (Episode 51)

A Christmas Story (1983) - “Fraa-jeel-aay! It must be Italian!” - (Episode 51)

Any movie that can be played on repeat every Christmas and STILL be entertaining is worth a watch. Nathan grumbles but I know he likes movie better than he lets on. I also believe he probably had one of those bunny suits when he was a kid.

Dec 21, 202101:04:37
Raising Arizona (1987) - “I'll be taking these Huggies and whatever cash ya got.” - (Episode 50)

Raising Arizona (1987) - “I'll be taking these Huggies and whatever cash ya got.” - (Episode 50)

We rarely dive into Coen brothers films and many might have suspected we would start with Big Lebowski. However, we decided to reach way back to discuss this FANTASTIC comedy that was only made successful with the casting of Mr. Nicholas Cage.   Is this his best ever??  Likely.

Dec 21, 202101:21:15
Inglorious Basterds (2009) - "Say 'auf Wiedersehen' to your Nazi balls!" (Episode 49)

Inglorious Basterds (2009) - "Say 'auf Wiedersehen' to your Nazi balls!" (Episode 49)

We jump back in to talk about one of the best Tarantino films and talk at length of our admiration for Mr. Waltz who is absolutely flawless in this film. The opening sequence of this film is easily one of the most impressive character building scenes in recent memory.

Dec 21, 202159:40
Navy Seals (1990) - “If I were going to be careful, I'd have joined the Coast Guard.” (Episode 48)

Navy Seals (1990) - “If I were going to be careful, I'd have joined the Coast Guard.” (Episode 48)

Some incredible high quality action movies came out in 1990, this was NOT one of them. Despite its flaws, it is delightful enough to discuss for about an hour.

Dec 02, 202150:53
Dazed and Confused (1993) - "Alright, alright, alright" (Episode 47)

Dazed and Confused (1993) - "Alright, alright, alright" (Episode 47)

Even though this film is a period piece set in an era that neither Nathan and myself existed, it captures the essential joy of being in High school that relates to our own experience in the early 90s. It artfully captures what was important at that time, like being obsessed with finding beer, discovering purpose, surviving hazing, learning what Martha Washington did for her husband George.

Nov 20, 202101:13:17
Jurasic Park (1993) - "Now that is a big pile of Sh*t" (Episode 46)

Jurasic Park (1993) - "Now that is a big pile of Sh*t" (Episode 46)

This is arguably one of the best summer blockbuster movies of all time. Nathan and Ollie get into a healthy debate if this is perhaps a "perfect" film.

As usual, Ollie wins the argument.

The Lost Boys (1987) - “Great! The bloodsucking Brady Brunch!” (Episode 45)

In honor of Daniel Craig's amazing run as James Bond, we go back and visit his FIRST attempt at this iconic character.  We discuss the very unique torture scene and how Nathan wishes this movie had more special effects and super heroes.

Wow.... What an incredible and ambitious film for 1984. The fellas welcome back Nathan's brother plus Rob, a DND friend of theirs, to discuss this remarkable movie. 3 of the 4 people on this podcast had read the books and Ollie still managed to throw in the occasional insight or two.  ALL 4 are super excited to see this movie re-imagined in a couple weeks with the release of the 2021 look at the subject. This discussion so in depth we have broken the episode into two parts.   See you next week for Part 2!

Terminator 2 Judgement Day - "I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle" (Episode 41)

Terminator 2 Judgement Day - "I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle" (Episode 41)

The boys are back talking Arnold... We mostly agree on everything in this EPIC FILM from the 90s. The group agreed that only one major cast change might have been appreciated. We also share our memories of the first time we saw this classic. Ollie shares that this was actually the first movie he ever owned, and it was expensive.

Sep 30, 202101:02:01

Cobra - "You're the disease, and I'm the cure!" (Episode 38)

After a LONG break we are back!!! We are starting off again with an absolutely insane 1986 classic, Cobra.   How the hell did this movie get made???

Jul 16, 202159:30
Strange Brew - "I am your father, Luke. Give in to the dark side of the force, you knob." (Episode 37)

Strange Brew - "I am your father, Luke. Give in to the dark side of the force, you knob." (Episode 37)

The fella's welcome back a Canadian legend to talk about this legendary Canadian comedy. Norm joins up to discuss what it was like to attend a hogwarts like school with Ollie, what real Canadians think of this movie and how much he believes that while Canada is "America's hat", the US is Canada's beta test.

Jun 04, 202101:13:43
Iron Eagle - "I wonder what a Cessna looks like splattered all over those rocks" (Episode 36)

Iron Eagle - "I wonder what a Cessna looks like splattered all over those rocks" (Episode 36)

This week Nathan and Ollie welcome back our old friend Tony to discuss one of his favorites from the 80s, Iron Eagle. This movie came out shortly before Top Gun and appropriately set the bar for jet fighter films so low that Top Gun was able to CRUSH IT.  Can you believe they made MULTIPLE sequels to this film?

May 21, 202101:12:57
Major League - "Up your Butt Jobu!!" (Episode 35)

Major League - "Up your Butt Jobu!!" (Episode 35)

Nathan and Ollie welcome an old friend and colleague, Bryan, to discuss this springtime classic.  Baseball is back and every year that time comes around, I think of this epic comedy with just about the most perfect cast.    (The delay in this episode is Oliver's fault as he had the nerve of going out of town on vacation... such a JERK!)

May 04, 202101:17:02
Tombstone - "I'll be your Huckleberry!" (Episode 34)

Tombstone - "I'll be your Huckleberry!" (Episode 34)

Nathan and Ollie welcome an old friend to his first ever show with us, Tony. He brought the heat with a WEALTH of knowledge and trivia about this early 90s western classic. Was this the best ever Val Kilmer movie??  Hard to argue against that.

Apr 11, 202101:13:21
Total Recall - "I've got five kids to feed..." (Episode 33)

Total Recall - "I've got five kids to feed..." (Episode 33)

Nathan and Ollie go deep into the background on this Arnold classic and tackle the really serious questions. Was it a dream? would we sign up to have imaginary vacations? What were the most important things we looked for in our movie diet when we were 10-13 years of age??

Apr 03, 202101:16:48
Weird Science - "So, what would you little maniacs like to do first?" (Episode 32)

Weird Science - "So, what would you little maniacs like to do first?" (Episode 32)

Nathan and Ollie welcome Jason back to go deep into the weeds on this much loved John Hughes classic. Is this the best of his films? we don't know for sure but we do know that there was very little "Science" behind this science fiction teenage fantasy film.

Mar 15, 202101:12:34
Back to the Future - "What's with the Life Preserver!?!?!?" (Episode 31)

Back to the Future - "What's with the Life Preserver!?!?!?" (Episode 31)

We welcome back Lau to discuss this ICONIC 1985 film, Back to the Future. Is this the greatest thrill ride movie of its time? it is a perfect 80s movie? we hash it out as well as the current market price for a Delorean. We also discuss some of the less than ideal 80s fashions are thrilled they have not come back to haunt us.. Nathan in a Belly shirt would be terrifying.

This nostalgic trip also includes a discussion about how this entire country is so great, especially rural communities that seem like a distant experience to what we typically see every day in Seattle.

Feb 08, 202101:15:06
Rocky IV - "I must break you!" (Episode 29)

Rocky IV - "I must break you!" (Episode 29)

Probably the greatest Rocky movie of all time and the most ridiculous. Do you remember that this movie had a robot that plays music, has a mobile phone and delivers cakes?  This movie is almost entirely made up of montages. Nathan's pride for his fellow Coug, Drago, was shown through in this episode where we welcomed Chris back.

Jan 31, 202101:08:33
