The 411 on Smart Clothing
Myant knits sensors and actuators into everyday textiles, giving them the ability to sense and react to the human body. This continuous bidirectional interface to the human operating system will empower humanity to transform its capabilities and performance, help people proactively manage health and deliver treatment, and allow us to build better connections to our own selves and those around us.
This is what we call Textile Computing™ or as I like to call it “Smart” Clothing.
Myant has worked tirelessly, with the brightest minds in the industry, to offer families with elderly parents a solution! They have designed a comfortable, user-friendly connected garment called Skiin, that shares biometrics like resting heart rate, core body temperature, activity levels and more, in real-time via their ‘Connected Life App’.
With Skiin garments you can have peace of mind, knowing your loved ones are happy and healthy – from anywhere, at any time.
Myant is now accepting applicants for their Skiin Early Access Program. The Early Access Program gives participants, and a family member or close friend (program partner), the opportunity to try Skiin at no cost. In exchange, they require participants and their program partners to complete one weekly survey over the course of four weeks, and a final feedback interview with a member of our Skiin team.
Join Desiree King and Gagan Gill from Myant Inc., as they discuss The 411 on “Smart” Clothing and how to become a part of their Skiin Beta Program.

The 411 on Active Adult Lifestyle Communities
Active adult communities refer to either an age-targeted or an Age-restricted community designed for people aged 55 or older. These communities offer the best in retirement living, creating a community of like-minded people while removing many of the mundane burdens of life in a regular community or suburb. Homes for active adults tend to be single-family detached homes, and typically range from 1500 to 2,000 square feet, and lots tend to be less than a quarter of an acre.

The 411 on Cognitive Skills & The Aging Brain
Every day we perform hundreds of cognitive tasks but are mostly unaware of the effort involved. These tasks take different forms, such as noticing colors, remembering names, or calculating time on a watch.
As people age, their movements and reflexes slow and their hearing and vision weaken.
The question is how do we identify whether these changes signify normal aging or Dementia, or severe memory loss that interferes with daily life, which is not part of the normal aging process.
Let’s learn what’s healthy aging and what’s not.

The 411 on Surviving COVID-19
For most people when the conversation around COVID-19 starts, one of the first comments is “Do you even know anybody who has it ?” Most people you speak to, myself included do not. Outside of what you see on the news, and out of all my family and friends there have been no cases.
One day while on Facebook, I came across a testimony shared by one of my Facebook friends detailing her brother’s experience with COVID-19. I have seen a lot of videos and read a lot of stories around this topic, however, this was one of the most detailed recounts of the experience with Covid that I have heard thus far.
I immediately felt a need to share his story. I reached out to her and asked if her brother would be willing to allow me to interview him on the show and he said yes.

The 411 on Home Health Care
Caring for seniors and our elders requires long-term care planning. But many family members become caregivers overnight without being ready for it. A loved one falls down or an illness triggers a change in responsibility.
After a certain period of time, family caregivers may realize they need help and begin searching for other solutions for senior care, which may include home care. Senior care options like adult day centers, retirement facilities, and nursing homes may not always be right and can be expensive.
Home health care usually means a combination of non-medical and skilled medical or in-home nursing care services that enable seniors and others to live independently in their homes as long as possible.

The 411 on What It’s Like To Be In Your 80’s
Coping with change is difficult, no matter how old you are.

It’s natural to feel those losses. But if that sense of loss is balanced with positive ingredients, you have a formula for staying healthy as you age.

But, with freedom comes responsibility. No one is going to tell you how to get the most from life after 60. It’s up to you to decide which passions to pursue, which people to have in your life and which places to visit.
At the same time, while we need to make our own decisions, it’s often helpful to see how others have dealt with similar situations.
