S13E55 Championship End of Season Special
John is joined by the regular group of fans from the Championship with Adam, Ali, Andy, Heather, Katie and Robert.
We review the season and look ahead to the playoffs in what has been another exciting season.
Airdrie are looking to secure back to back promotions through the playoffs and Partick Thistle are looking to get over the heartache of last season.
There are predictions in terms of who will come through the playoffs to face St Johnstone or Ross County.
The debate about whether structure of playoffs favours the club in the Premiership is debated and what could be done to make the playoffs better.
Andy talks about where the league was won. There is chat too about lack of youth getting their chance in the league but praise for the likes of Airdrie, Dunfermline and Queen's Park who are bucking the trend.
To round up the episode we make predictions on who will be well placed for next season and who was the best manager in the Championship.
Good luck to all the teams in the playoffs.

S13E54 Euro '96 Throwback: Czech Republic and Germany
The countdown is on for this years European Championship, and to get you in the mood we are going back 28 years to relive Euro '96. In the final instalment of this four-part series, fittingly John B looks at the two sides who reached the Euro ‘96 Final at Wembley - Czech Republic and Germany. To help provide an insight, John spoke to Czech sports journalist Jiri Hosek and Co-Host of Yellow Wall Pod Matthias Suuck.
It was the Czech Republic’s first campaign since the separation of Czechoslovakia in 1993 and they won a tight qualification group ahead of Netherlands and Norway to reach the Finals. Their fighting spirit saw them recover from an opening match defeat to Germany to progress ahead of Italy and Russia, before Karel Poborsky’s improvised lob saw off Portugal in the last eight then a dramatic penalty shootout win over France saw them unexpectedly reach the Final. The Germans, meanwhile, were expected to bring the trophy back to their homeland and qualified with minimum fuss, dropping just five points from their ten qualifiers, and cruised to wins over the Czech’s and Russia in Group C before holding Italy to a goalless draw. A narrow win over Croatia in the Quarter Finals was followed by a penalty shootout win over the hosts England to face the Czech’s again in the Final, where Oliver Bierhoff came off the bench to score a double, including a golden goal winner, to secure victory for Berti Vogts’s side. Jiri and Matthias give a good insight into their respective journeys and also give a combined Euro 96 & 2024 XI for each nation, which throws some interesting selections.
Footnote - John is also doing this series as a build-up to the launch of his second book, We're Going To Wembley: Scotland's Euro '96 journey by Pitch Publishing, which he has co-written with Neil Doherty. Full details on where you can pre-order the book can be found on Pitch's website or by contacting John or Neil directly.

S13E53 Whistle Blowers
This week John, Charlie, Josh and Laurie are joined by host of Behind the Whistles podcast, James and former referees Des Roache and Steve Conroy.
There is plenty of chat about VAR, how it is used and what could be done to improve it.
We talk about former players getting involved in refereeing, the fast track process and whether referees should have the ability to talk about decisions they make on the field.
Des and Steve give us an insight in to how they managed the game when in charge of 22 players on a field and their approach to this. Plenty of interesting points that we might not consider as fans.
There are questions from listeners about how the game is officiated in Scotland with the guys being open and honest with their answers.
Thanks to the guys for coming on and be sure to check out their podcast which comes out every Sunday.

Dave's been busy on the interview front ahead of this weekend's women's Scottish Cup semi finals at Hampden between Celtic and Rangers, and Hearts and Spartans. S13E50 Euro '96 Throwback: Portugal and Netherlands
The countdown is on for this years European Championship, and to get you in the mood we are going back 28 years to relive Euro '96. In the third of this four-part series, John B looks at the fortunes of Portugal and Netherlands by speaking to PortuGOAL creator Tom Kundert and Dutch football expert at Flashscore Finley Crebolder.
Having been knocking on the door for a place at Euro ‘92 and USA ‘94, Portugal strolled to qualification and with the talents of Luis Figo and Rui Costa they were considered a dark horse for the tournament. However, despite winning their group with seven points from three games, they came unstuck against Czech Republic in the Quarter Finals. Meanwhile, the Dutch endured a difficult route to England, where they needed a playoff victory against Republic of Ireland to secure their place, and then they scraped into the last eight on goal difference ahead of Scotland before a penalty shootout defeat to France ended their hopes of success. Tom and Finley give a good insight into their respective journeys and also give a combined Euro 96 & 2024 XI for each nation, which throws some interesting selections.
Footnote - John is also doing this series as a build-up to the launch of his second book, We're Going To Wembley: Scotland's Euro '96 journey by Pitch Publishing, which he has co-written with Neil Doherty. S13E48 Euro '96 Throwback: Scotland and Croatia
S13E47 Euro '96 Throwback: England and France
The countdown is on for this years European Championship, and to get you in the mood we are going back 28 years to relive Euro '96. In the first of this four-part series, John B looks at the fortunes of England and France by speaking to Chief Sportswriter at The Times Henry Winter and L'Equippe Sports journalist Pierre-Etienne Minonzio.
Hosts England went into their finals under intense media scrutiny following unsavoury drinking incidents in Hong Kong and the flight back to London, but they rallied round after a slow start to reach the Semi Finals before falling to Germany in a penalty shootout, just like they did in Italia '90. France went through an indifferent qualification campaign, drawing half of their matches, but picked themselves up to also reach the last four, and were also denied a Final berth by losing on penalties to the Czech Republic. Henry and Pierre-Etienne give a good insight into their respective journeys and also give a combined Euro 96 & 2024 XI for each nation, which throws some interesting selections.
Footnote - John is also doing this series as a build-up to the launch of his second book, We're Going To Wembley: Scotland's Euro '96 journey by Pitch Publishing, which he has co-written with Neil Doherty. In a different focus on women's football, Dave caught up with Glasgow Caledonian University's Professor Fiona Skillen.
While most of our focus on this podcast so far has been on the current developments in the SWPL or with the women's Scottish National Team, Professor Skillen was named BBC Woman Expert in 2014 for her research on women's sport history.

S13E38 SWPL February
Dave hosts another busy women's football podcast as he's joined by SFF regular Charlie, regular guest Eva, former Rangers captain Clare, Dundee United head coach Graeme, and Jessica from The Celtic Star to look back at all the latest SWPL action following the winter break.
We jump straight in with post-match reaction from Sunday's derby at Ibrox which saw Celtic and Rangers share the points and maintain the hosts unbeaten record and four point lead at the top of the table. There's chat around what Celtic would have to do in the remainder of the season to have any chance of catching Rangers.
There's obviously discussion about the fall out from the away ticket issue that unfortunately preceded the game and what that might mean for the growth of the women's game in Scotland.
At the other end of the table, unfortunately for Graeme, there's talk of who might go down with the bottom three all level on points and even fourth and fifth bottom being three and six points ahead. The race for fourth also seems just as tight with just one point separating three teams.
With the Pinatar Cup on the horizon this weekend, there's also discussion around who is and isn't in the latest Scotland squad as well as Scotland's chances in the tournament along with Finland, Philippines and Slovenia.

S13E29 Craig Brown Tribute
On this podcast special, John Bl is joined by "SFF Technical Director" Krys, as well as guests Scott from SM Media and Grant from Campbell's Footballs, to pay tribute to Craig Brown who sadly passed earlier this year.
Looking back over the life and the career of the former Scotland national team coach, as well as manager of Clyde, Preston, Motherwell and Aberdeen, this podcast is filled with memories not only of what Craig was able to do with teams on the park, but also what he was able to do with people off the park.
There's additional tributes from SFF regular Dave, former guest Air Force Wan Alan, as well as Andy from the Hampden Roar podcast who also takes part in the first part of the quiz.
Then it's the turn of the guests on the podcast to take part in that quiz, looking back at some of those players involved during Craig's time in charge of the national team.
And finally, there's only one way to end this podcast, with the thoughts of Craig himself, recorded back in 2020. RIP Craig Brown.

S13E28 League Cup Review
Regulars John, Dave and Josh are joined by returning guest from last week John W from Scots Abroad Pod. We also have two Scott's as Scott from SM Media joins us and Scott from Hearts podcast Scarves Around the Funnel returns after being a guest previously.
We focus on the League Cup final and discuss how the game went. where the game was won, Robson interview after the game and more. There is discussion on back of it in terms of what Aberdeen need to do to change things. Is it down to the manager as there is a general consensus that squad is strong enough.
There is chat surrounding the possible future of Lawrence Shankland and how important he is to Hearts as rumours persist that Rangers want to sign him in January. Scott reacts to Hearts victory at Celtic Park and what this may mean in terms of pressure on Naismith.
John W gives us an insight in to some tactical analysis and we ask who actually gave the worst interview of the week as Derek Adams slates Scottish football.
On the back of Celtic losing back to back league games, the signing strategy at the club is questioned, we ask if Brendan Rodgers really wants to be there and is there a title race?
We finish off by asking what everyone would like to see in their Christmas stocking in terms of a football gift.

S13E23 Book Club: Callum McFadden & Donald Stewart
With Christmas just around the corner, John B and Scott J were joined by authors Callum McFadden of Football CFB and Donald Stewart of SFSA to plug their new books.
Callum's book "Behind the Curtain of the Beautiful Game" is a series of short stories from some of the biggest names in football sharing their tales of their respective experiences, from players and managers, through pundits and broadcasters, to referees and fans. It is a unique insight into what makes the beautiful game, and all royalties go to the mental health charity Man on Inverclyde, which leads to a great conversation around the importance of mental health.
Donald's book "Back o the Net" in conjunction with Paul Goodwin is a collation of fans stories across 49 clubs in Scotland on how they got involved with their respective clubs and why they mean so much to them. The community aspect is particularly highlighted with Donald telling the story of how he got involved with his local team Ayr United, and even gets the contribution of former Prime Minister Gordon Brown on his experiences following Raith Rovers.
The chat ends with all four giving their 7 aside Scotland teams and where you can buy the books if you're looking for a Christmas gift for someone, or even just something for yourself.

S13E22 Kein Schottland, Keine Party
Regulars John, Erin, Josh, Krys and Scott J are joined by Laurie as we reflect on a fantastic campaign for Scotland.
We take a look back through the campaign and discuss some of our memories and favourite highlights. Safe to say we'll never forget that moment in Oslo or that crazy game against Georgia in June.
There are some quiz questions throughout the podcast as we discuss Group A.
We also talk tunes at Hampden with Josh not liking a couple of tunes that are played regularly.
Who will be on the plane to Germany? We consider that there might be a 26 man squad again and discuss some wildcards and who may miss out.
As we look ahead to the draw for Euro 2024, we discuss who we'd prefer to get in our group. Keep your eye out for the draw in Hamburg on the 2nd December.

We hear from Georgian fan Luka who gives his take on the upcoming game and provides his own 7 a side team.

There is a bit of fun as we come up with a best eleven with rule that a minimum of two players can feature from each side. Fans can not nominate players from their own team though.

S13E18 Women's October Football Show
Dave's back in the hosting chair once more as we once again as we turn our attention to the women's game ahead of Scotland's double header with the Netherlands in the Nations League. He's joined on the podcast by returning guests Eva and Clare.
Before the international chat though there's the regular look at SWPL1 following a weekend where Rangers went top after ending the 100% record of previous leaders Celtic. They discuss the differences at Rangers that Jo Potter has made this season and wonder if this is just a blip for an otherwise flawless Celtic.
On the other side of the country, Hibernian have been running riot and Hearts appear to be back to their best as well. Meanwhile champions Glasgow City had a disappointing end to their Champions League hopes at the hands of Brann.
Turn to the Nations League, there's the difficult prospect of facing the Dutch without several of our key players which will make a difficult prospect even harder. Finally there's another of the fun cap quizzes to round off the chat.

S13E17 Championship Coverage Part 2
We're back for our second Championship special and John is lucky enough to be joined by the guests who were on the first one. Katie, Andy, Adam, Robert, Heather and Ali are on to represent some of the clubs in the division.
We kick off with a bit of banter regarding the weekend result between Partick Thistle and Dundee United.
This leads on to everyone giving their views on how the first quarter of the campaign has gone so far with Dundee United the only unbeaten team. There is chat about the box office appeal of having Duncan Ferguson as a manager in the league though the team are not sure how well he will do.
There is discussion about what players have been a surprise so far in the league, best away days so far and some pie chat. John gets everyone to come up with a filling of their choice.
The podcast concludes with some chat around the Her Game Too movement which Heather leads in Scotland. If any clubs are interested in partnering up with the movement then get in touch by sending an email to hergametoopartickthistle@gmail.com

S13E16 Destination Deutschland
Dave takes up hosting duties once more and is joined by Krys as well as guests Michael, Hazel (or is it Heather...) from Tartan Army Magazine and Tartan Army foot soldier Gordon.
Obviously there's only one top worthy of conversation this week, and that's the achievement of Scotland reaching a second consecutive European Championship. The achievements of Steve Clarke's men across the campaign finally came to fruition despite the defeat in Seville when Norway failed to beat Spain a few days later.
There's an in depth look into all the goings on in Thursday's game against Spain, including a lot of discussion around the refereeing decisions made that night (and not just the disallowed goal from Scott McTominay)
There's also a look back at what everyone thought were the key moments of the campaign as a whole, whilst still thinking ahead to next month's final two games of qualifying that could still yet prove important in deciding which pot Scotland find themselves in for December's draw.

John, Josh and Robbie are joined by returning guest Stephen Reside as we look ahead to the Spain v Scotland game.
Before that though we give Josh an opportunity to reflect on Beale's sacking at Rangers as we discuss potential candidates for the vacant position.
Excitement is building ahead of Scotland's trip to Seville to play Spain as we look to secure qualification for Euro 2024. The guys are optimistic that the job can be done in what will obviously be a tricky tie. We discuss who will replace Tierney, what formation that Clarke will opt for and who will start up front.
There is then the first part of a quiz as is now tradition ahead of the international games as we have a game of higher/lower.
We then reflect on the weekend action as we discuss Lennon Miller's sending off, Aberdeen's draw with St Johnstone and the Edinburgh derby.

S13E13 The Scottish Show
John, Robbie and Scott are joined by Michael for a busy show with plenty of quality football chat.
We kick off by discussing how the Scottish teams got on in Europe with their being mixed fortunes. Rangers were the only ones who won but there was an encouraging performance by Aberdeen in Germany.
Something that we've bemoaned for a while is the lack of youngsters getting regular minutes in the Scottish Premiership. In particular we focus on the lack of Scottish youngsters playing regularly in the top flight and discuss why this might be. There is chat about identity, Director of Football role in Scotland and much more.
Robbie guides us through a quick review of Scotland's defeat against England in the Nations League. We discuss the contract given to Pedro Martinez Losa and hopefully a bright future under him.
To round off the show we take a look at the weekend action as St Mirren continue to impress, referees don't and Aberdeen get their first league win of the campaign.
