The Bizniz Talk: Episode 20 - How we generated over R120 000 in online sales dropshipping

The Bizniz Talk:  Episode 20  - How we generated over R120 000 in online sales dropshipping

If you a brand or business that sells products but if you are not selling online through your own eCommerce online store, you are leaving money on the table.

In the last 12 months we generated over R120 000 in online sales using a simple eCommerce strategy to acquire customers, increase conversions and grow our average order value (AOV).

Firstly we focused on acquiring new customers, driving traffic and visitors to our online store. We used Facebook Paid Advertising at a daily budget of R20.00 per day for 5 days, testing different copy and creatives. The best performing ads would be scaled to a budget of R50.00 per day. This was to build customer data and also build audiences on Facebook for retargeting purpose.

Secondly we looked at ways on how to increase our conversion rates, we were driving new customers, traffic and visitors to the online store and now needed to convert them.

Lastly we were wanting to grow our average order value (AOV), which meant that i customers were going to spend more and increase the size of their shopping basket.

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 17 - How to manage your side-hustle while having a full-time job

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 17 - How to manage your side-hustle while having a full-time job

Managing your side-hustle/business while having a full time 9-5 comes with its own set of challenges.

One of them being time management, having to run your business(wearing many hats), managing daily life, family, relationships and also work.

As I'm currently managing 3 side-hustles, while maintaining a demanding 9-5. This has forced me to start managing my time better, after all we only have 24 hours in a day.

Things to consider or keep in mind with managing your side-hustle

1. Plan your month, week and day as much as possible. Else you will find yourself doing everything but accomplishing nothing.

2. Focus on the things that generate sales/incomes, in other words focus on things that move the needle.

3. Break your goals/objectives into smaller, simpler task. If you goal is to make R10 000.00, break it down into weekly/daily targets. It will be come easier to achieve.

4. Don't waste too much time on things that don't matter, don't worry about the perfect name, price, logo, website etc. Test your product/market in your target market, make your first 1, 10, 100 sales. Again focus on things that will yield results, whether positive or negative.

5. Lastly if your side-hustle is as draining as your 9-5, you might be doing alot of things wrong. Do something your enjoy doing. It's shouldn't just be another job but should make you motivated and driven enough to want to put in the work.

Passion = Profits  over time.

Remember as in any business, it requires hard work, dedication and perseverance. ,these is no such thing as overnight success, unless you win the lotto. If it is too easy or to good to be true???

As you are your own boss, their will be no-one telling you to get out there and make your next sale/find your next customer.

How do you manage your time with your side-hustle?

How do you plan you month/week/day?

Do you have targets for month/week/day?

How do you prioritize your tasks?

What activities generate the most income/sales for your side-hustle?

Leave your answers in the comments below. Feel free to drop me a DM telling me about your side-hustle/business.

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 16 - What is dropshipping and how to get started?

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 16 - What is dropshipping and how to get started?

If you’re seeking an online business opportunity, chances are that you’ve come across dropshipping. Dropshipping is an online business model that can generate high returns for the aspiring ecommerce entrepreneur. It’s possible to start dropshipping with a small amount of startup capital and some sweat equity. Once you begin to see success, you can scale by allocating more resources to advertising and brand building. But how does dropshipping work, and why should you go for this model to realize your entrepreneurial dream?

Before we get any further, it’s important that you have an answer to the question ‘what is dropshipping?’

What is Dropshipping?

Dropshipping is a type of retail fulfillment method for online stores, where instead of warehousing inventory, merchants purchase products from third-party suppliers as customers make orders. The products are then shipped directly to the consumer. This way, the seller doesn’t have to handle the product directly.

What are the benefits of Dropshipping?

  • Easy to Start
  • Low Risk, Low investment
  • Lower overhead and monthly costs
  • Flexibility and Scalability

What you need to get started with Dropshipping?

  1. Find a product to sell
  2. Start a Shopify Store
  3. Add your payment gate
  4. Connect courier partners
  5. Market and advertise your new store

Now it’s your turn to sleeve up, embrace the learning curve, and immerse yourself in dropshipping.

You may start small at the beginning with uncertainty and perhaps fear of failure, but all the successful entrepreneurs used to be at the same starting point. Draw up a strategic plan, evaluate opportunities and costs, start yours, and make your business dream happen.

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 15 - How to grow your business online using a simple marketing strategy

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 15 - How to grow your business online using a simple marketing strategy

Growing a business isn't easy. First, you need a viable idea. From there, you need to discover a profitable niche, define a target demographic and have something of value to sell them. Getting customers, increasing sales and growing your business should not be a sprint but rather a marathon.

Marketing a small business isn’t easy. It’s actually hard.

Which is why most people struggle to reach the right audience, no matter what strategies they use.

Step One: Advertise your business online through Facebook and Instagram.

Whether you decide to open a new business page, you should be posting regular content such as images, video and behind the scenes of your product and service that your business offers. You can do use organically or you can invest in a budget to boost your post to increase your brand/product awareness, drive traffic to site or increase bookings for your services.

Step Two: Build up a email database of past, existing and potential customers.

Whether your business starts off as a side-hustle selling to family or friends, or whether your business decided to sell to other customers in your network. Its important to build a database of your ideal customer and buyer persona, make a list of 10 or even 100 customers that would you like to offer your service or sell your product.

Step Three: Communicate to your customers and focus on customer service

Always ensure to communicate to your customer regularly whether you market a new product/service, promotions or specials. Following up with customers after they have purchased from your via email and WhatsApp will also help your customer service and support

As a consultant who helps businesses build their brands online, I've seen many business owners struggle to build profitable businesses. But the formula is actually much simpler than you might think.

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 14 - How to make money online selling a product

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 14 - How to make money online selling a product

Selling online is one of the most profitable ways to earn money. Find out exactly how to make money online selling a product and actually make money. It’s never been as easy as it is now to set up your own online store. eCommerce technologies keep improving and more shoppers want to buy items online, so you should seriously consider each of the options above.

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 14 - How to make money online selling a product

1. Sell your own product on your own online store

If you are able to store your own products and fulfill online orders, you may be in a position to set up your own eCommerce store on your own domain and hosting platform. There are many shopping systems available that allow you to display your products, take orders, process payments and fulfill each order taken through your website.

Shopify is one of the most popular e-commerce platforms that has everything you need to sell your products online.

2. Sell other peoples product on your own online store (Dropshipping)

Dropshipping is an extremely popular and straightforward way to sell physical products which you dont own. Your online store sells the physical item and this product is bought from a dropshipping supplier at a reduced price.

The product is then shipped to your customer by the dropshipping supplier. Your profit is the difference between the price you charge your customer for the item sold and the price the dropshipper charges you to fulfill the order.

3. Sell products on a 3rd Party Marketplace

Local and International marketplaces like Takealot, BidorBuy, Jumia or Amazon allow you to sell your own products on these huge websites and marketplace platforms. In some cases, these companies even store and fulfill all of your orders, so that you can focus on promoting your products to more shoppers and customers.

It doesn’t mean that you need to quit your job to start selling products or services online. You can do both but, to make sure that your online endeavor yields positive results

You can set up your online store in no time and, with effective marketing strategies, you can start earning money round the clock before you even know it. What’s more, it can turn out to be quite an exciting endeavor, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t do it.

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 13 - Five reasons your business should be selling online

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 13 - Five reasons your business should be selling online

The Bizniz Talk: Episode 13 - Five reasons your business should be selling online

Over the past decade, customers are constantly change the way they want to shop and businesses are trying to keep up. Customers are now fluid online shoppers who search, compare, and buy from online sites, marketplaces, mobile apps, physical stores, and social sites. As innovative technology aids their journey, consumers are looking for remarkable experiences across these digital and physical touchpoints with brands.

eCommerce encompasses any commercial transaction that involves the transfer of information across the internet.

That’s a broad description for a reason. eCommerce can take many different formats. It can include a branded website, mobile app, marketplaces like Amazon and eBay, and social media platforms like Facebook Marketplace, Instagram Shoppable Ads, and Pinterest Buyable Pins.

1. Cost effective and Affordable to Launch: When you’re first starting out, eCommerce allows you to avoid many of the large, upfront investments that traditional retail can incur – like a physical storefront, inventory, or payroll. With an online store, you can sequentially build out your business as your sales grow.

2. Access new markets and customers:  Online channels aren’t limited to who can physically visit and purchase from your store. Whether you’re just starting out or an existing seller, you can reach new markets and customers online that you couldn’t before.

3. Customers start their purchases online:  87% of shoppers begin product searches on digital channels compared to previous years. Even if they end up buying from a physical store, shoppers are more likely to start their search online

4. Open 24/7/365: Your online store  is open 24/7/365 available any where, any time. So, time does not act as a barrier, wherever the customer and buyers are. Say goodbye to the days of trading hours.

5. Gain valuable insights: One advantage of online selling you might not have thought of is how easy it makes it to collect, measure, and act on customer insights and data. If you want to be hyper-focused on the customer experience, then you need to own your consumer data.
