First Mount Moriah Baptist Church is hosting the Spare a Pair initiative Saturday, December 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2040 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Augusta. Pastor Daniel Foster III says attendees can expect new and lightly used shoes and clothing for all ages, along with essential items like diapers, wipes, and toiletries. The initiative began after Pastor Foster noticed people attending church without shoes. He and his fiancée started the program to address this need by collecting and distributing donated items. The event will serve 200 to 300 individuals, including those in homeless shelters. Volunteers are still needed to help sort and set up items. Heights Church on Jefferson Davis Hwy in Beech Island is hosting a Spring Carnival on Saturday, April 15 from 12 a.m. – 3 p.m. There will be options for special needs children, as well. Ma'kia Hill started her annual brain injury awareness event three years ago following her father's advice. Her twin son has cerebral palsy. A number of her friends are also connected to brain injuries. "It's very difficult. I would say a lot of people say I'm strong, but only the person dealing with it knows exactly." Ma’Kia joined Shawn to talk about the third annual traumatic brain injury event and its impact on her family and loved ones.

Two local female business owners are teaming up to bring a health, wellness, and fitness expo to Columbia County. Jamilah Dukes, the owner of The S.O.U.L Market, and retired veteran Kimberly Beasley, owner of Curvitude Athletic Apparel, created this event for everyone in the community. The inaugural event will take place on March 25, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Liberty Park Community Center In Grovetown. Jamilah and Kim joined Shawn to talk about it.

The Town of Edgefield is getting a new market. Edgefield Arts With a Heart Market will host six artisan markets in 2023 in the Edgefield Town Square. The first market will be held on April 15 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Each of the six markets will support a different local nonprofit and will be run by volunteers. All vendor fees will go directly to the nonprofit being showcased that month. Rhonda Nowicki and Jennifer Lewis joined Shawn to talk about it.

The Original Six Foundation is teaming up with the SC Department of Motor Vehicles to host a statewide book drive to benefit South Carolina kindergarten students through the My First Library program. The group is also teaming up with USC Salkehatchie for the first-ever All In Allendale celebration. Kara Gormley Meador joined Shawn to talk about it.

"It really wasn't a hard part for me to be honest with you. Because as I was going through this journey, I was learning more for Marshall, so I didn't make it hard." A local mom is bringing the community together to spread awareness about autism. Deidre Roberson and her son, Marshall, joined Shawn to talk more about the autism walk and breakfast.

Organizers of the Lucy C. Laney HS Alumni Association's 7th Annual Hall of Fame Awards and Induction Ceremony sat down with Shawn to discuss the event and how the community can help with the celebration.

A Disney experience is headed to the CSRA to benefit the Augusta Youth Debutante Society. On Saturday, January 14, the second annual Bentlee’s Fairytale Ball will be held at Sacred Heart Cultural Center in Augusta. This year’s theme is WINTER Wonderland.
