56. Normalising Neurodiversity with Katie
Katie is a founder of Starling CIO - a charity offering support and opportunities to young people with Neurodiversity. A great advocator for neurodiverse individuals, Katie shares what it’s like to live with CPTSD and how her experiences influenced her management tools. We talked about impact of long-term health conditions, Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and finding support that works for you as an individual.
CPTSD (complex post-traumatic stress disorder) is a condition where you experience some symptoms of PTSD along with some additional symptoms, such as: difficulty controlling your emotions.[Mind.org.uk]

Anna Savory is a creative, writer, comic, and business programme lead at the British Library. She was diagnosed with ME/CFS after battling with the effects of Covid-19 vaccine jab. Anna shed light on her diagnosis journey, support systems and her inspirations in implementing change for individuals with disabilities.

50. Embracing My Alopecia
In this episode, Ellen interviews Faith Hiles, a dancer and fitness coach who has both Alopecia Areata and Coeliac disease. They discuss Faith's journey with Alopeica and how it has affected her confidence over the years, her diagnosis of Coeliac disease, her passion for dancing and fitness, how she is raising awareness of her health conditions now, and her experience of dating and relationships.

Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune condition which causes hair loss on the scalp, face and body areas. There are 160 million people worldwide who either currently have it, have had it in the past or will have it in the future.
Coeliac disease is an autoimmune condition which results in the body having an adverse reaction to gluten, which can result in malnourishment as the gut cannot absorb nutrients. About 1% of the global population have Coeliac disease, although there are a huge amount of people who have been misdiagnosed.

Action for M.E. is the only charity in the UK supporting people with M.E. of all ages and their services have often been referred to as a 'lifeline' by those who have accessed them. A free NHS service for patients living with long-term health conditions and/or carers. Research has shown that people living with long-term health conditions spend only three hours a year on average with a healthcare professional. For the other 8757 hours of the year they look after themselves. This programme can provide you with the tools to self-manage and deal with your conditions better on a day to day basis.
