Pt.3 - Passing Satan's Tests

Pt.3 - Passing Satan's Tests

Hello dear friends! This is the final episode in the series, "Navigating Life's Disappointments". On this episode we take a look at the tests Job endured and what that can teach us about seasons of despair and disappointment. We all have these moments in the life of faith and I believe there is an unlikely antidote to times of despair; courage. I hope you all have enjoyed this series. The journey continues! Jesus is good. pt.2 - Dreams and Idols

Hey friends, In this second part of the series I unpack the connection between ambition, dreams, and idols and how often our misplaced dreams can harm our spiritual lives. This continues the discussion on 'navigating life's disappointments'. We all have dreams, expectations, and hopes. Sometimes in life's twists and turns we can experience heartbreak, which left alone can derail our faith. As we learn to grieve our lost dreams and recognize the idols in our lives we can learn to see the goodness God has given in the here and now. Listen and Enjoy! Contact: slow1club@gmail.com

Why Therapy is So Popular

Hey friends! On this episode I unpack the rise of therapy, the positives of therapy, and what the Church can learn from the popularity of therapy. I myself have benefitted from counseling over the years but I also have seen how counseling alone may possibly lead to incomplete healing. I believe there is a way forward where the benefits of therapy can be embraced, the Church can listen well, and people can find even deeper healing in community. Listen and enjoy! Where do you get real? Confession

Where do you get real? Confession

I think all Christians agree that confessing your sins is vital to our salvation and the continued growth of our souls. Yet, christians differ in how we understand how we should confess our sins. Do we confess one time and then get baptized? Do we confess just to God or also before another human person? What do we do with sins after baptism? The RCC has a clear system and teaching on confession and dealing with sin that I believe is very helpful in this modern age. Let’s take a look at the sacrament of confession, see what holy scripture teaches about confessing sins, and examine our lives for how we should live our life with God.  Sources: https://catholicstraightanswers.com/what-is-the-difference-between-mortal-and-venial-sin/ https://aleteia.org/2017/04/10/how-often-should-i-receive-the-eucharist/ Contact: Slow1club@gmail.com

Steps for Tin Foil Hat 1. Measure your head. Gather the dimensions of your scalp using a soft tape measure, measuring from the middle of your forehead to the base of your skull. 2. Unroll tinfoil. Using clean, premium-brand foil that has not been used to wrap food, measure double the length from your forehead to skull, plus four inches. Detach the foil using the serrated edge of the box and fold the foil in half, shiny side facing out. 3. Mold the hat to your head. Carefully place the sheet of foil over your head and scrunch it down to follow the shape of your skull, as would a shower cap or helmet. If any exposed scalp remains, attach additional pieces of foil to cover; adhere using clear tape. 4. At each temple, poke a quarter-inch hold on either side of the foil. 5. Create a chin strap. Unroll an additional three-inch strip of foil and fold it over twice, creating a durable, double-folded chin strap. 6. Thread the chin strap through the holes and attach with clear tape. 7. Don your hat. Wear your hat in any place and anytime you wish to screen your thoughts from extraterrestrial-alien, governmental, or other types of surveillance. Be Aware Tinfoil hats are based on science: A layer of aluminum protects whatever lies beneath it from radio-frequency electromagnetic radiation. For maximum protection, wrap foil around not just the head, but the entire face and skull. This episode is part of the SC Archives Collection

Low audio frequencies in the ranges of alpha and beta waves affect these waves and thereby influence brain function. These effects state the case for a precautionary policy.” ○ In 1990s there was classified (recently declassified intelligence) that indicates; “there is intelligence information from 2012 associating the hostile country to which Mr. Beck traveled in the late 1990s with a high-powered microwave system weapon that may have the ability to weaken, intimidate, or kill an enemy over time and without leaving evidence.”-National Security Memo This episode is part of the SC Archives Collection

Be the Person Who Says, "I don't know" | SC Archives

Be the Person Who Says, "I don't know" | SC Archives

Show Notes: What does it mean to be an expert in something? Do you need a degree in a subject? Work a job in a particular area? Be a person famous for your knowledge? Oftentimes it seems there is an area I don’t know much of anything about. Actually there are many things I know absolutely nothing about. However, in certain moments I fake it. I lie. I basically was a compulsive liar in Elementary and Middle school. I would tell the tallest of tales to boost my robust persona. Now at age 25 this looks a bit different. I tend to avoid topics altogether I know little about. But life brings moments that expose part of the old man in us. On this episode I will share a few stories of moments I have defended my pride by acting like an expert, what I learned from that/God has shown me, and how I have been learning the power of simply saying I don’t know or no. Story #1: Hardware Humility; Local hardware store to get screws for a footstool I set my mind to building. Story #2: My Culinary Arts; Futile attempts to be a grand chef while barely able to cook consistent grilled cheese. What I learned? I am a presenter. A dang good one at that. Something I dislike about my old self if my tendency to make a job I have done look good but in fact I am aware of how little I actually put into it. I think higher of my abilities than I should. I can catch creative inspiration by eating French fries. I can dream and envision anything. The problem is I can often way overestimate my ability to put in the work. I generally operate out of a lie that life is easy and I’m surprised when it isn’t. Particularly when it comes to learning complex things I want microwave fast results. Stories of Growth Story #3 Recent: cycling with my dad. Talking with friends about cycling and just having fun. Story #4 Farm job. Becoming a learner and a better worker. Wrap up Life taking yourself too seriously not only destroys joy but it is full of pride. Freedom comes in coming out of hiding and being who you are with all you know and don’t know. Our digital “enlightened” age expects you to know everything all the time. Be different and be honest. There are very few experts and honesty about yourself may open the door for you to truly learn.
