Breaking Point, Pt. 2
Jacob is back for Part 2 of his story, and this time, he shares with us the questions he wrestled with while exploring faith. After struggling with abuse, pain, and recovery, Jacob struggled to reconcile a supposedly "good" God with all the evil in the world. Why would He allow such things to happen? How are you supposed to reconcile anger and justice? Listen to this episode to hear Jacob's journey, how he investigated these questions and ultimately found the answers he was looking for. Breaking Point
Growing up in south Georgia, Jacob was surrounded by a "church culture" - but it wasn't life-changing. His father was an addict who often was physically abusive, and things were tough. Jacob found himself asking why God would allow his dad to go through so much. How God could allow such pain and suffering? In college, Jacob played baseball and it became his identity. But when an injury soon left him facing a two-year recovery process, he found himself at rock-bottom, feeling depressed and unsatisfied. He turned to anger, girls, drugs, and academics, but nothing seemed to worked. Then one day, he opened a Bible, and everything changed. Jacob's story doesn't stop here. In Episode 11, we'll hear about Jacob's journey of discovery and the answers he found to his challenging questions. Share your feedback on this episode by emailing sbpodfeedback@gmail.com. Letting Go
Meet Orion, a student at the University of North Texas studying ecology! Like many of us, Orion struggled with a desire to please people and prove her worth through her accomplishments. Growing up without much emotional support from family and others around her, she longed for true relationships, facing social anxiety and getting caught in the trap of seeking approval from others. She found herself stuck in a cycle of eating disorders and unhealthy coping mechanisms, fighting to find a sense of control and value. Listen to Orion's story, and learn how she was able to let go of her anxieties and find a meaningful, unfailing relationship - one that would support her and show her unconditional love and reassurance, even in a world that seems like it's spinning out of control.
