S2 E13 [INTERVIEW]: Harmony, Energy & Influence with Feng Shui Master, Jillian Rothschild-Scholar

S2 E13 [INTERVIEW]: Harmony, Energy & Influence with Feng Shui Master, Jillian Rothschild-Scholar

On this episode of the So She Did Podcast, Kristin talks to Jillian Rothschild-Scholar,
Feng Shui Master.

The episode opens with Kristin’s confession about recent stress she’s experienced from clutter and “house” stress. Jillian explains, “Your energy flows where your focus goes,” and says that clutter is actually a psychological issue.

While Feng Shui may include clearing the way for better energy flow in the home, it is so much more. It is a practice of Chinese metaphysics that helps us find balance, have space for positive energy, and helps us analyze Chinese astrology and our personal life path so that we are more in alignment.

Jillian introduces Kristin and listeners in this episode to some basic elements of Feng Shui and talks on a relatable and personal level about practical ways in which Feng Shui can help us all aspects of our lives.

Kristin recalls a moment she had earlier this year, in which she realized, “I’m bigger than the space I live in. I’m bigger than the earth on which I live. I’m just here having a human experience right now.”

Jillian offers a few practical, easy tips for listeners:
1. The quickest way to shift energy is to clean it up in order to allow chi energy to better flow in a space.
2. Make three piles to sort your things: keep it, trash/recycle/give it, box it.
3. Put items into the “box it” pile that you’re unsure whether you want to keep. If you haven’t opened it in 6 months—toss it!
4. Go to Jillian’s website to check out the FREE Mansions toolkit to get started identifying your own place in Chinese Metaphysics.

S2 E11: [INTERVIEW] Being the Author of Your Own Story w/ Santo Chiappetta

In this episode of the So She Did Podcast, Kristin is joined by Athleticism and Mindset coach, Santo Chiappetta. The episode begins with Santo sharing his early experiences in a boxing gym and how those began to shape his mindset and future goals.

Santo’s coach asked him: In a perfect world, what would your life be? He learned that by visualizing what he wanted, he was better able to set goals to achieve it.

The conversation continues as Kristin supports the idea of manifestation and visualization, but only as long as it is partnered with action.

The episode ends with further insight from Santo who says that for most of his clients, the biggest obstacle to their success is themselves, that the path is itself the goal, and that in most cases—done is better than perfect.

S2 E10 [INTERVIEW] Building a better mindset with pro-boxer Tyler Canning

S2 E10 [INTERVIEW] Building a better mindset with pro-boxer Tyler Canning

In this episode of the So She Did Podcast, Kristin is joined by professional boxer of HBO Boxing, Tyler Canning. Tyler discusses the abusive childhood that started him down the path toward destruction in his early years. He was always told that he would amount to nothing, and as a teenager he too believe that about himself. He landed in jail, but a boxing coach reached out to him, even while he was behind bars, to tell him that his future was not yet decided. He could change it. That is exactly what he did.

Tyler trained, and took his first ever plane ride to box on television from Rockefeller Center in New York. He learned that the same skills that led to boxing success could also lead to success in life.

Tyler tells listeners about his journey in this episode, and discusses how he now gives back through coaching.

S2 E9 [INTERVIEW] Learning How to Embrace it All with Deborah Driggs

S2 E9 [INTERVIEW] Learning How to Embrace it All with Deborah Driggs

Deborah Driggs appeared to have it all. She was on the cover of Playboy 3 times, Oprah invited her on the show, and she was in movies and on television. However, in her words, "I was miserable. I was using attention, relationships, and addiction to cover the wounds of my past. The harder and faster I ran from that pain–the more I ignored it, the better I felt. Or so I thought. I ended up broke and divorced with three young children."

Deborah learned that it wasn't what was on the outside that satisfied, but rather facing what was on the inside. In this in-depth interview, Deborah shares her story, her struggles and the way in which she is helping others now learn to embrace it all.

S2 E8 [PEP-TALK] Setting Boundaries for a better life

S2 E8 [PEP-TALK] Setting Boundaries for a better life

In this episode, Kristin talks about the need to set boundaries with people in our lives. This doesn't always mean cutting people out completely, but it does mean deciding which behavior you will and won't accept.

Kristin asks you to think about the people in your life who...

  • Make you feel taken advantage of
  • Blame you for things for which you are not responsible
  • Disrespect or hurt you
  • Interrupt your privacy
  • Bully or abuse you
  • Simply push their needs and feelings onto you

She then offers a few quick ideas to set boundaries.

Kristin also asks you to be honest with yourself about the boundaries you yourself violate.

If we are going to strive for #100PerfectDays, then let's make it clear what we will and will not allow into our lives.

S2 E6 [PEP-TALK] The Perfect 100 Days #Perfect100

S2 E6 [PEP-TALK] The Perfect 100 Days #Perfect100

Kristin is back in the middle of the season with a personal challenge that she is inviting you to join... The Perfect 100 Days #Perfect100Days

What if for 100 days, you committed to showing up as the single best version of yourself in every moment?
What time would you wake up and what would your morning routine look like?
How would you fuel your body and feed your mind?
What bad habits would you quit and which new habits would you replace them with?
Who would you try to connect more with…and equally important—- who would you disconnect from?
How would you be more creative? More spiritual?
What adventures would you go on?
What have you been putting off that if you committed to for just 100 days might actually get done?!

Here is the challenge:
Each day, commit to showing up as the best version of yourself in all settings. This means...

Take 10 minutes each morning and 10 minutes each evening to connect with yourself and plan your days.
Do ONE thing every day that you have been putting off.
Connect with one person intentionally.
Add 20 extra minutes of movement to your day. T
Finally, Make an effort to look good. When we look good, we feel good and when we feel good, we live better.

That’s it: 5 things for 100 days. Tune in and join along.

S2 E5: [INTERVIEW] Learning to get Comfortable with the Uncomfortable w/ Emmy Petersson, Career & Transition Coach

S2 E5: [INTERVIEW] Learning to get Comfortable with the Uncomfortable w/ Emmy Petersson, Career & Transition Coach

On this episode, Kristin has a compelling interview with Emmy Petersson, originally from Sweeden, now working as a Career Transition Coach in Melbourne Australia.

Emmy begins by telling of her journeys around the world and how she learned that “You don’t need a lot of resources, you need a lot of resourcefulness.”

Kristin and Emmy then examine the question: How do we get comfortable with being uncomfortable?

-Where did we get the idea that things have to be perfect the first time?

Emmy discusses the 3 Universal Needs:

  1. Fear of not being good enough/being found out
  2. Fear of not being loved
  3. Fear of not belonging

Emmy encourages listeners to learn that they do not need to do everything alone and she has adopted a mantra that she learned from a coach she worked with in the past.

“Whatever happens, I can handle it, with some help.”

Kristin agrees and says, “If you’re able to admit that you don’t know something, that is a far greater strength than pretending you know something that you don’t and you are just trying to mask that weakness.”

In learning to become more comfortable with the workplace, Emmy encourages: “Don’t put on a shield to go to work; go to work as you.”

S2 E4 [PEP-TALK] Be a Good Human

S2 E4 [PEP-TALK] Be a Good Human

In this episode of the So She Did Podcast, Kristin shares a story about a recent encounter with an angry person. Rather than becoming obstinate and 'fighting fire with fire,' she had a moment where she recognized herself and her own behaviors in the man.

She says: "I had this sudden realization that just as this man thought I was trespassing on his property, I have accused people of ‘ruining my day,’ ‘putting me in a bad mood,’ or ‘making me mad.’ My actions did not cause this man’s behavior, any more than the actions of other people have the ability to ruin my day.

Not only do I get to choose how I feel, but more importantly, I get to choose how I will respond. I didn’t feel angry when I left; I felt shaken, and dare-I-say it——shame. After all, I am more like that man than I am not. There is a quote from Stephen King’s ‘The Green Mile,’ that paraphrased, says:

I'm tired, boss… Mostly, I'm tired of people being ugly to each other. I'm tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world...every day. There's too much of it. It's like pieces of glass in my head...all the time. Can you understand?

This week, I FEEL that.

We pursue our own best interest, at the expense of others, without any regard for what is in the best interest of the whole.

We say hurtful things, make painful comments or observations and then say we were ‘joking.’

We yell, get angry and take out our frustrations on strangers…or worse, on the people that are closest to us, whom we say we love the most.

We also do these things to ourselves, forgetting that we too need compassion and love."

She then goes on to provide simple ways in which we can all better engage with the human experience in a way that is kind, and ends by saying, "I want to be a good human. I want to wake up every day, grateful for the opportunity to leave the world a little better than I found it, and fall asleep at night, knowing that I tried my best to do just that. Then, I want to wake up the next day, and try even harder.

I hope that this week, we are all working on being better humans. Imagine the impact if we all really just took this one piece of advice."

S2 E3: [INTERVIEW] Building authentic adult connections and friendships with Helene Brolund, Friendship Coach

S2 E3: [INTERVIEW] Building authentic adult connections and friendships with Helene Brolund, Friendship Coach

During this episode of the So She Did Podcast, Kristin speaks with Helene Brolund, Friendship Coach in Copenhagen, Denmark. The two discuss the need for authentic connection and the value of building friendships as adults. In addition, they discuss the challenges with building friendships including time-constraints, struggling with our own identity, becoming comfortable with vulnerability and developing a language around our needs and wants in our relationship with others.

  • Why do we need to build friendships and why is it hard as adults?
  • We are taught our whole lives to celebrate our 'successes,' but not our connections, sharing of friendships and love. We discuss rewarding ourselves off-line, building authentic relationships and how to venture out of our comfort zone to meet people.
  • Learning to see vulnerability as a strength, not a weakness.
  • Getting comfortable 'feeling awkward.'
  • Leaning into who we really are.
  • Overcoming the Myth that friendship is something that is just "supposed to happen" naturally.

Helene suggests that we are 'Human Beings, not Human Doings." It is not our career, our accomplishments, or our outside image that defines us, rather it is who we are on the inside --- our wants, our thoughts, our goals, our hobbies, and the way we interact with others -- that defines who we are. Kristin and Helene discuss how to change a conversation from "What do you do?" to "Who are you really?" in order to build better connections and simultaneously becoming more self-aware.

S2 E2: [PEPTALK] Start Showing up for Your Life

S2 E2: [PEPTALK] Start Showing up for Your Life

Hey y’all. Kristin here, your host of the So-She-Did podcast. Summer weather is here in Colorado, the skies are blue and the mountains are waiting for me to hike them. We spent mother’s day driving up to Pike’s Peak, America’s mountain. While I don’t love heights, it was a reminder to me of all of the things that I have accomplished in the past.

Last summer, I went sky diving for the first (and second!) time, I hiked my first 14er (that’s a 14k foot mountain), visited Nashville, Houston, Los Angeles and made my health and wellness a priority.

All of that sounds great, but since then, I’ve lost my way a little bit. I’ve talked to so many people who have done the same thing.

We got used to working from home…. In pajamas!

We got used to interacting with people …. Online!

Many of us (myself included) became complacent. Working from home, not getting outside enough and being glued to the computer keyboard exacerbated the problem. In November of 2020, a survey found that 43% of Americans reported having feelings of anxiety or depression. That’s almost half of us.

So, where do we go from here?

Stay tuned after this message for our sponsor for the answer:

**

Feeling stuck? I left you with the question of where do we go from here:

The answer is that we START SHOWING UP FOR OUR OWN LIVES.

Imagine the best version of yourself. What do you? Are you sitting in the home office eating an unhealthy snack while wearing pajamas or, are you waking up early, go for a walk, take a shower, and put on an outfit that makes you feel amazing before beginning the day?

How do you speak and connect? Are you primarily interacting via email, text and online or are you picking up the phone to talk to a colleague, attending networking events, smiling when you greets friends, both old and new and looking for opportunities to connect and build confidence?

How do you work? Are you wondering lackadaisically through the day, mindlessly moving from one task to another or are you beginning  the day with a plan of top priorities, a list of tasks to accomplish and a clear goal so that you fall asleep feeling at peace and accomplished?

How do you grow? Do you come home after the day to laze in front of Netflix, or are you taking time to read, talk to your family, take a course or otherwise move yourself forward?

I used to fantasize about all of the things I could do if there was freedom in my schedule or if I worked from home. Now that I have the freedom to do that, I have found that in order to really achieve the life I want, I also have the have the discipline to built the life I want.

Last week I asked you whether or not you were living life on purpose or on accident. This week, the challenge is greater. Today, I challenge you to live on purpose.

Imagine the very best version of yourself and begin to show up every single day as that.

Wake up and start acting like your ideal self!

For the next 24 hours, imagine you are in a move and you are playing the person you always wanted to be. Talk like that person. Act like that person. See what happens when you intentionally become the person you want to be.

I’d love to hear your thoughts about this episode. What changes are you going to make to be the person you want to be, inside and out? How did your 24 hours of being that person feel? If you are on Anchor, leave me a voice comment, or drop a comment on social media and let’s connect.

This is just the beginning of this journey that we are taking together this season. Let’s enjoy it!

S2 E 1 [PEP-TALK] Start Here, Start Now

S2 E 1 [PEP-TALK] Start Here, Start Now

This season will follow a different format. There will be 3 different types of episodes:

1. 🅿🅴🅿-🆃🅰🅻🅺: Begin and end the week with some motivation. These short episodes are designed to fire you up and get you moving at work, at home, and in your life. 🔥🗣💪🏼

2. 🅸🅽🆃🅴🆁🆅🅸🅴🆆: In the middle of the week, hear from experts, authors, coaches, business-leaders, entrepreneurs, travelers, and a long-list of other people as I interview them about the lessons they’ve learned along their journeys. 🎙🎧👣

3. 🅲🅾🅰🅲🅷🅸🅽🅶: Listen in as I coach real people, with real challenges during a special 5-part series this season. 🎁🙋🏻‍♀️❓

If you are listening to this on a Friday and living the traditional Monday through Friday schedule, or clocking and and out, or living paycheck to paycheck; I have a really important question to ask you: ARE YOU LIVING ON PURPOSE OR ON ACCIDENT? Are you wandering through life haphazardly, wondering “How did I get here?” If so, this may be the wake-up call you need to start living ON PURPOSE.

You may not be able to quit your job, move to another city, or forgo your responsibilities to chase your dreams, but you CAN begin to strive to not end up anywhere by accident. Figure out what the first step is to living a more fulfilling life, and then TAKE IT.

The power to change your life is yours. It starts by changing your thinking and then making a decision to move differently, choose differently and live differently.

So, today, I leave you with these two questions: Are you living on purpose or on accident? And What is life trying to teach you right now?

I’d love to hear your answers to these questions. If you are listening on Anchor, feel free to drop a recorded question or comment, and I may play it in a future episode. Slide into my DMs on Instagram or drop a comment on a post to let me know you were listening and what changes you are making.

Tune in again on Monday for another pep-talk and later in the week for interviews with some amazing guests. Thanks so much for helping me kick off this season of the So She Did podcast. Let’s Start here together. Let’s start now.

S2 E0: [TRAILER] Season 2: Let’s Start the Journey

S2 E0: [TRAILER] Season 2: Let’s Start the Journey

Welcome to Season 2 Welcome to Season 2 of the SO SHE DID Podcast. This is Kristin, and while most podcasters call themselves hosts, during this seasons I’d rather just be a passenger on a journey of learning and growing toward excellence with you. This season, I will be interviewing guests from a variety of backgrounds and locations around the world. We have a wide-range of guests, including a former playboy model and covergirl turned coach, authors, business experts, health coaches, entrepreneurs, immigrants and world travelers.  When we hear the stories and listen to the wisdom of many, we too can become better versions of ourselves. Paul Kennedy left behind the busy New York City life to travel in search of Inspiration. What he found was that he was most inspired by the people he encountered. He will join us from Vietnam to discuss his soon-to-be released cookbook: Vietnam Food & Culture: To appreciate the culture, you must understand the food. To appreciate the food, you must understand the culture. Jenny Watson, Owner and CEO of the Elderberry company will share how her passion for keeping her family healthy at home in Indiana resulted in a successful business but challenged her to learn to find work-life balance. Katie Feltmate, poet and author, will be joining our journey to talk about the importance of using our voice for change. Katie is a gender-based violence advocate living in Nova Scotia, and her book — Love in the Age of Quarantine— chronicles her experiences as a victim of domestic violence recovering during a time when social isolation became the norm. Erin Gregor, serial entrepreneur from Texas and co-founder of Innovation Media Enterprises, will share her journey not only through business, but also through the ups and downs of self-doubt, overcoming imposter syndrome and learning to be brave enough to put yourself out there. Helene Brolund from Copenhagen, Denmark recognizes that as adults with busy lives it is often difficult to find and maintain friendships. She has made it her mission to help adults build authentic friendships, develop deeper connections and provide support along the way. My hope is that you will enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed recording and that from each of the guests this season you will learn something that will change your life for the better. Forgiving the Unforgivable with Special Guest Stephanie Lashley

Forgiving the Unforgivable with Special Guest Stephanie Lashley

LISTENER DISCRETION ADVISED

We are told that we should forgive, that forgiveness is really about us moving on, not the person who did us wrong. But how does someone forgive the unforgivable?

This episode is a raw, un-edited and candid discussion with author, Life Coach and serial entrepreneur, Stephanie Lashley who is learning every day to forgive that which most people would find unforgivable.

After 20 years of marriage, Stephanie found herself in the doctor's office facing a life-changing diagnosis. She was HIV positive. Her husband had been sleeping with men, outside of marriage and without her knowledge for years. Not only that, but she was also pregnant. Doctors and religious leaders encourage Stephanie to abort her child, and her husband continued his lifestyle, even after knowing that he too was HIV positive. He introduced their son to drugs, and while Stephanie helped him recover, a relapse would ultimately lead to his death at 23.

Despite having lost her marriage, her children and living with HIV, Stephanie has learned that forgiveness was never about condoning what happened, but rather releasing herself from being held captive by it.

In this raw, candid, and often emotional interview, Stephanie tells her story of love, loss, grief, and forgiveness.

Finding Bursts of Joy in Everyday Life with Lisa Dimino-White

Finding Bursts of Joy in Everyday Life with Lisa Dimino-White

Are you waiting for the ‘big’ moment or achievement to find happiness? Is joy something that you will find if and when something happens? On this episode of the ‘So She Did’ Podcast, Kristin talks with Lisa Dimino-White, author of the book “Bursting with Joy” to explore how you can create passion and what Lisa refers to as ‘Bursts of Joy’ in every day life.

Lisa and Kristin share ways in which they can recognize small and joyful moments and become more intentional about creating them in every day life. Lisa says that it really is the small moments that add up to a lifetime of happiness. The seemingly small, calming, peaceful and joyful daily experiences define our lives as a whole and Lisa says that the time between ‘then’ and ‘now’…really is now.

Lisa encourages the listeners to find moments of joy without judging themselves, but rather authentically enjoying the things that make them smile…maybe it’s meditating, or maybe it’s spoiling yourself with a favorite dessert. Whatever it is, we should seek it.

Argue Less and Love More: Communication for a Better Relationship

Argue Less and Love More: Communication for a Better Relationship

What if you could learn to communicate in a way that would make your relationships better? In this episode of the ‘So She Did’ Podcast, Kristin speaks with Paul Sterling, best-selling author of the book “Argue Less, Love More.”

Paul begins by explaining that in our relationships, we have 3 needs: to be heard, to be understood and to be valued. Often this starts with an understanding of our own needs and then intentionally working on our own communication skills. This often means understanding what your partner needs in the moment: do they need help solving a problem or simply an ear to listen? What do you need in the moment? Paul provides tangible examples of how to ask for what you need and provide it to others.

Paul explains two different relationships paradigms which he calls, “Happily Ever After meets Lord of the Rings.” In the first, the relationship is happy and content, but in the second, the couple is called on a journey together that may have some challenges and discomfort along the way.

At the end of the episode, Paul tells listeners how they can get in touch with him and get a free PDF of his book.

Overcoming Fears and Saying "Yes!" To your Life with Gwen Austin

Overcoming Fears and Saying "Yes!" To your Life with Gwen Austin

Understanding the root of of fears is just the first step, we must also learn to not only overcome them, but take our power back from them and say “YES!” to our lives.

During this episode of the “So She Did” Podcast, Kristin is joined by inventor and entrepreneur, Gwen Austin. Gwen is a toy designer who specializes in helping children learn to not listen to the negative voices of the world but instead face their fears.

She discusses how we, as adults, can adopt this same mentality. By understanding the roots of our fears, making decisions to overcome them and replace them with empowering beliefs and saying “Yes” to our lives, we really can live more fulfilling lives.

Gwen says that we must learn to ‘go with our gut.’ Kristin asked what exactly that means and how we know it is out ‘gut’ talking. Gwen answers that if it feels like passion, it’s right….but if it feels like pressure, something is off.

Listen to this episode for a great ‘Say Yes’ challenge, and more insight on taking risks and living your life to the fullest.

Living a Life of Passion with "Fire in Your Belly" feat Mighty Pete Lonton

Living a Life of Passion with "Fire in Your Belly" feat Mighty Pete Lonton

During this episode of the “So She Did” Podcast, Kristin is joined by author, TedX Speaker, coach and fellow podcaster, Mighty Pete Lonton to discuss the importance of finding your passion—what Kristin calls ‘living a life that sets your soul on fire,’ and what Pete calls ‘Fire in Your Belly.’

Despite living on different continents, Kristin and Pete each had similar experiences in their mid-thirties of questioning who they were and whether they were on the right path. The episode begins with a discussion of these catalysts and then Pete shares his journey into greater self-awareness.

Pete questions what it is that makes some people get up and turn on the television, while others get up and change their lives and the world for better. What sets the two apart? Passion! Pete discusses the idea of “Fire in Your Belly,” and the need for each of us to find that passion so that we can live more meaningful and fulfilling lives.

The conversation ends with thoughts on how we can not only re-invent ourselves, but also how we can re-build ourselves. Pete suggests that we are all born with passion and purpose, but in the process of life and socialization we are told and begin to believe stories about who we are and who we should be. Kristin suggests that when we go back to chapter one, we have the ability to re-write these stories and become who we were meant to be at the very beginning, before life got in the way.

Kristin and Rachel first address the tough topics: How do we overcome self-judgement? How do we identify the negative thought patterns that get in our way? Rachel offers some tangible tips and personal stories so that listeners can begin to silence the voices that tell them 'no,' and move forward with a big and resounding YES!

Kristin then shares her own experiences with toxic positivity: the idea that by simply thinking better thoughts we can create a better situation for ourselves. While the two agree that there is a place for motivation and positive thinking, they also agree that positive thoughts should not come at the expense of dealing with underlying emotions that may be subconsciously holding us back. Rachel presents a radical idea: half of our experiences should be negative. We need both the good and the bad to be well-rounded individuals and there is nothing 'bad' about negative emotions.

The episode ends with final thoughts on how listeners can develop a healthy mindset that helps them find their inner 'super-hero' (in the words of Rachel), and live lives that 'set their souls on FIRE.'

Couch to Active: Fitness for a Better Life

Couch to Active: Fitness for a Better Life

Today’s episode is all about fitness and health through the lens of living a better life. Kristin is joined by multi-award winning author and Founder & CEO of “Couch To Active,” Lyn Lindbergh, whose approach to fitness emphasizes integrating activities you love into your life to live a healthier lifestyle.

She and Kristin discuss the Pomodoro Technique and Kristin says that beginning with the idea that “ you can do anything for 20 minutes” motivated her to live a healthier lifestyle. Lyn uses the same approach and shares that in her own life, remembering to take short breaks helped her find her focus in the chaos of the day to day.

Lyn reminds listeners that taking care is not an option; we are humans and we need exercise. Not only that, she reminds the listeners: “You are worthy of having an active life style,” and it is not selfish to take care of yourself; it is necessary.

Kristin agrees and discusses the idea that in the quest for achievement, we often forget our health. She challenges the listeners to ask themselves: On the day you reach that professional or academic challenge—how do you want to feel?

Kristin and Lyn discuss taking a fun approach to fitness and learning to enjoy living in our bodies, and approaching fitness from a perspective of health and overall life enjoyment rather than the scale.

The episode ends with Kristin posing a 30 day challenge to listeners to support both themselves and others by giving another woman a compliment every day for the next 30 days. By supporting one another and seeing the good in others, we can see the good in ourselves too. Lyn closes the episode by reminding listeners of their worth and ability to adapt to change.

When to Jump and When to Turn Around with Nefateria Fonda

When to Jump and When to Turn Around with Nefateria Fonda

On this episode, Kristin is joined by Certified Business & Sales Coach, Author and Facilitator, Nefateria Fonda. The two talk about what it takes to move forward with big dreams in business and in life.

The episode starts with a discussion about having the courage to 'just jump,' that is taking initiative and getting started rather than being stuck in the same place.

Nefateria emphasizes that in business, it is not enough to just have an idea: you must also have a plan, consider all stakeholders and not blindly jump into new ventures. While there is a place for vision and dreams, there is also a need for practical decision making.

The two discuss the fact that in addition to adding knowledge and skills to prepare women for business, there are often things that need to be removed from our lives as well: habits and relationships that no longer move us toward our goals.

The episode ends with the two agreeing that changing directions does not always mean failure. Life is a journey, and some things work for a season. True success comes when you are willing to take the risks that lead you to success and know when to move forward or make a u-turn.

Transformative Change: Separating the Ego from the Authentic Self with Katharyn Havey

Transformative Change: Separating the Ego from the Authentic Self with Katharyn Havey

During this episode, Kristin comes full circle with Transformative Coach, Katharyn Havey. Previous issues have discussed physical health, financial security, relationships, and alternative psychological therapies, but in this article the ego/soul relationship is discussed.

The episode opens with Katharyn's personal story of being successful as a Registered Nurse, but then suddenly loosing their job. She discusses with Kristin that while this was unexpected, it pushed her to do something different to help people...a move she would have never made without the nudge.

Kristin and Katharyn then have an in-depth conversation about Ego. Is it good? Is it bad? How can we balance our need for inner peace with so many outside voices?

Finally, the conversation ends with an in-depth discussion about transformation. How do we really listen to 'who' we are, and not just settle for what the ego and world tells us we should be?

Hypnosis and other non-traditional psychological tools for total Wellness

Hypnosis and other non-traditional psychological tools for total Wellness

During this episode, Kristin talks with J Robert Parker, Certified Master Hypnotist of Twin Ravin Hypnoisis, LLC.  The conversation begins with the basics of hypnosis: what it is and what it is not. Robert explains that hypnosis is removing the filter between the conscious and sub-conscious so that participants in the process can begin to overcome past traumas or improve their wellness.

Kristin and Robert then begin to discuss some of the reasons that people seek hypnosis to begin with. While weight loss and smoking cessation are among the reason, Robert sees more people in his practice who are working to overcome fears or trauma. The pair discuss the way in which childhood trauma impacts people by sometimes stunting their emotional growth and keeping them 'stuck' in one place. Warning: There are some controversial ideas discussed here which makes the episode even more compelling.

Finally, Kristin and Robert discuss other non-traditional psychological tools--including tarot cards. What? Tarot cards are supposed to be 'magical,' and off-limits right? Tune in for a different perspective of tarot that proposes that there is nothing magical about them at all; they can be used as a story, much like the Hero's Journey found in literature, to help people identify where they are in their lives and become more cognizant of the best decision for their lives.

Women + Money = The Two Most Powerful Forces in the World

Women + Money = The Two Most Powerful Forces in the World

During this episode, Kristin talks to Financial Coach, Victoria Sexton about the real issues that women face with money, how to address them and learning to change their mindset so that they can have better control over their lives.

The episode begins with brief statistics about women, their earning power, and the way in which men and women approach money differently. Victoria encourages listeners to take learning about money seriously. This is more than just a budget: She encourages women to embrace investing and look for ways to make their money work for them.

Kristin and Victoria agree that cutting expenses is not always the only or best option; women need to look for opportunities to earn more. That includes asking for a raise, being bold enough to find a job that pays what you're worth, being brave enough to start a side business, and finding other creative ways to increase the bottom line. Kristin states that women should stop limiting themselves, and Victoria says there is nothing wrong with wanting more money.

The two also discuss spending, with a unique approach not commonly heard. Victoria believes that taking care of yourself is also an investment. Get the blowout or the manicure if it makes you feel better. Kristin agrees because feeling better leads you to do better, and in-turn you may be more willing to take action steps to earn more.

Victoria gives the listeners some practical tips about 401k investments, deciding what is truly affordable and invites them to participate in her upcoming investment course.

Functional Wellness: Learning to Listen to Our Bodies to Live Better Lives

Functional Wellness: Learning to Listen to Our Bodies to Live Better Lives

Heather Gray, Functional Wellness Practitioner, joins Kristin on this episode to talk about holistic wellness. The episode begins with discussing the impact of both physical and emotional trauma on the body and Heather explaining that it is important to understand that not all people experience trauma in the same way.

Heather then goes on to explain what exactly 'leaky gut' means. She details how the food and chemicals we are exposed to can trigger immune responses in people leading them to feel tired, sick or like they are in a fog. She addresses how to identify the symptoms and how it can be diagnosed using data driven tools.

Sleep is also examined in this episode with a discussion about the impact lack of sleep, over-use of caffeine and/or sleeping pills and stress can impact our brains' function.

Kristin shares some of her struggles in each of these areas and Heather says that there are solutions, and no matter how common an ailment or symptom may be---it is not 'normal.' They discuss the normalization of medication and illness in our society and challenge listeners to think about food as fuel and better supporting themselves by listening to their bodies.
