The Porch is Hangin' aht n'at!
The Porch is on tonite. Hang aht n'at! Let's talk NBA Finals, NHL Finals, answer the question: Is the Steelers Defense elite... and some headlines in the news that actually mean something. Watch us on facebook, twitter, youtube and catch us Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7PM on iHeart American Busker Radio!
The Porch is back... on the Porch!
We finally got off our lazy a$$es and decided to have this episode of the Sports Porch on the official porch. All things sports, what we are watching and some headlines that may or may not mean something to your life... all on the best sports show around!
The Porch is Back... Our Memorial Day Special
After a hiatus due to ... you know... We are back! Season 2 of the Sports Porch Podcast. We talk... Steelers, Pirates, BBQ and what we are watching. Tune in and tune out!
The Corona and The Lime... with Coffee.
So... what to do, what to do? Let's talk about sports. All the sports that are cancelled or postponed. So that's what we did. At the Abbey on Butler Street in Lawrenceville. As usual. It's a risky business being sports podcasters!
We Need A Producer
Yep. Finally started the podcast after about a 5 minute live facebook stream. This week at the Abbey on Butler Street in Lawrenceville, we talk hockey, and debate more about what is a sport, and what ain't a sport.
The Sports Vortex Continues
From the Abbey on Butler Street in Lawrenceville. So... we talk about the Pens recent slide, the XFL, and debate whether or not certain "activities" are sports... like badminton.
It's a Sports Vortex
So what do you do when you're waiting for the NHL playoffs, the NFL Draft and MLB's Opening Day... and you're a Pittsburgh-based sports podcast? Uh... talk a little NBA? Well... we try.
Back at the Roaster
Back at Coffee Tree Roasters in Shadyside. This week, Steve... "The Guy in The Middle"... tries to talk Pens. We give our Facebook live fan, Pat, some gambling advice (like... STOP), and early Super Bowl predictions.
At the Abbey
Back at the Abbey on Butler Street. It's a slow news cycle for Pittsburgh sports right now... but somehow we just keep coming up with things to disagree about. Sid's back... that's good. Matt Canada is the QB coach... that's... good? The MLB sign-stealing scandal is... oh who cares! We make our playoff predictions, and Chris set's himself up to be wrong. Again. As usual.
Playoffs??
Welcome to another BONUS episode of the The Sports Porch on Pittsburgh Beautiful. This week, we are at Coffee Tree Roasters in Shadyside. Marc is the "guy in the middle" and is pretty p*ssed off about what happened to Carson Wentz... but I digress. We talk Steelers off-season questions, the NFL playoffs, Syd and the Pens, props (kind of) to Pitt Basketball and make our predictions.
Kicking off 2020 with the Porch
What better way to kick off a new decade than the Sports Porch from the Abbey on Butler Street in Lawrenceville? We grade the Steelers season, talk a little Pens Hockey and make our predictions for this first round of the NFL playoffs. The Sports Porch, in collaboration with Pittsburgh Beautiful!
The Duck has (Crash) Landed
The porch is mobile again at Starbucks in Murrysville this week. Dave, Marc and Chris discuss the Steelers dismal performance in New York... Mason and the Duck... what's up with the running game and will the real #1 receiver PLEASE give us some game. A little bit of Pens talk, and we wish you all Happy Holidays (or Merry Christmas, as Dave would prefer...).
Will the Jets and Lev Bell ruin the Steelers Playoff Hopes?
We think not. It's a two-fer. You get Steve, Chris, predictions, the Duck hat give away and a little ambiance at Coffee Tree Roasters on Walnut Street in Shadyside.
Here come the Bills!
The Bills are coming to town, and it's gonna be a good one at Heinz Field! Our predictions, and mostly football this time. See you for a LIVE Facebook PRE-Game show on Sunday night before the game!
Is Duck the Man?
In collaboration with Pittsburgh Beautiful, here is this week's Sports Porch Podcast. Is Duck the man? Steve pontificates on the Penguins' injury bug, insultls the Flyers and we make our game predictions.
The Browns are in Town
What else can we talk about when it comes to sports here in the 'burgh?... Oh... yeah. Duck Hodges. The Cleveland Browns. Helmut Swing, the Sequel? What does Devlin Hodges have that Mason Rudolph doesn't? What does Bennie Snell have that James Connor doesn't? Welcome to this special edition of the Pittsburgh Beautiful Podcast in collaboration with The Sports Porch.
What's Next for the Steelers?
Well... I guess we should address the elephant in the room. Pitt beat North Carolina and they are 7-3! No... not really. The boys talk about "Helmut Swing" - as little as possible - and the loss to the Browns. Steve promises to do the Icky Shuffle if the Bungles win. Some Penguins talk, and Chris drops the "F-Bomb" by accident at the end of the podcast... which is why we have to label it "explicit" this time around. Will he ever learn?
Myles Garret Steels Our Thunder
We thought we'd have a little fun with this bonus episode of the Pittsburgh Beautiful Podcast - in collaboration with our spin-of, The Sports Porch, and do a pregame show. So we did. Then the game between the Browns and Steelers was on... and it was bad. The Steelers were bad. They looked bad, they played bad... all that.
Then, Myles Garrett and Mason Rudolph stole the show. We're not making light of it... Garrett's actions were inexcusable and he should be penalized, harshly. However, what was Rudolph planning to do IF he was able to remove Garret's helmut? And why was he trying to in the first place? Also... the real question here... what the heck were the Steelers doing when they got ready for this game? Playing Xbox?
This show was pregame, so you'll hear alot of predictions. We all know how it turned out! As for our reaction afterword... Dave sums it up in his article about the Myles Garrett Helmut Swing.
Is Bud DuPree for Real? Nutting is Nuts.
The Steelers pulled out a victory against Indy, keeping their season alive. Bud DuPree was named defensive player of the week after his performance. Does this mean he's for real, and will the Steelers try to keep him after his contract is up this year? Dave is a little tired of Pirate's owner Bob Nuttings "nutty" proclamations that they want to win a World Series and can do it with one of the lowest payrolls in baseball. So... he did a little geek research and ... well... you can here it in part 2 of this episode.
That Sinkhole (The First Half of MNF)
Sinkholes seem to be a problem in Pittsburgh. On the roads, and in Heinz Field... at least in the first half of the Steelers' Monday night game against the Miami Dolphins. Did they crawl out to stay, or will Indianapolis push them back over the edge? Of course, we have to devote a couple minutes to the Pitt loss and the Pirates house-cleaining... but that's all Willie could take, so we moved on to the Penguins and the World Series. Thanks to Lady Elaine on our Facebook Live stream for pointing out that you dont HAVE to watch us. However... it is like a train wreck... so why not?
Is it a BYE or an OFF week? Who really cares
Tackling a bye (off) week for the Steelers going into a Monday Night game against the (cough) Dolphins. Pitt is winning, and does anyone really care? The Pens seem to have found some chemistry, but it's early. And we're rooting for the Nats in the World Series. There you have it!
Duck Dynasty? Seriously
Did the Steelers Save the Season
Episode 4 of the inaugural season of the Sports Porch, and the first LIVE episode on Facebook. After a convincing win at home against the Bengals on Monday Night Football... have the Steelers saved their season, or just beaten an incredibly bad team? The defense looked great and Mason Rudolph took control. We talk about this, and can they pull it together for a tough match up against a better Ravens team...? Will the wildcat make it into the game plan this week? About the Buccos... Hurdle may have needed to go... but in the long run was he just the scape-goat? We also answer our live viewer's questions and talk about predictions for this week's game. Oh, yeah... there's a gratuitous Redkins reference, and a small segment about Pitt. Had to do it.
The 0-3 Bowl
Without the Alum (Dave) it just doesn't seem right... but we had to do it anyway. Willie channels Taylor Swift and Mason Rudolph. Minkah Fitzpatrick shines and Conner coughs up a win. Now... with the 0-3 Bengals headed to the burgh for a showdown of losers on Monday night... well... I digress. And, did Pitt... "Pitt"...? Yep. They gave us every reason to root for them, again. And won the game. Will they carry this over into the next one? Who knows.
OMG & 2
Are we giving up on the Steelers this year? Oh... I don't know. You'll have to listen to find out. And does the Alum think he could've coached Pitt to victory over Penn State. Um... YES. Oh, yeah... we crown Willie in this episode (See the movie "Falling Down" with Michael Douglas) and Schwalbber sounds like he wants to be a real talk show host. Plus, we find out who's afraid of spiders and what the "Spiderman Test" is... Oh yeah. We're rocking the porch!
The Sports Porch
Part of the Pittsburgh Beautiful Podcast... we are proud to introduce the Sports Porch. Willie, the Alum, Schwalbber and the Founder, every week, from our porch, bring a little levity to sports. Nope... we're not experts (well... the Alum considers himself to be an expert) in the journalistic sense. We're "experts" in the "we have wasted countless hours eating pizza, smoking cigars, drinking beer, complaining, hyper-ventilating and throwing things around the room" sports fan sort of way. Located in Pittsburgh, we focus on the Steel City first, and everything else after. Enjoy. Or don't. We're the one's having fun here. And that's the way we like it.
