In this time of the pandemic, we are changing and being changed. What once was urgent in our daily lives is now put on pause. Other more immediate ways of living and dying are transforming us. You are invited to pray these evening prayers and light a candle to shine light into a darkened world.
The Great Vigil of Easter
On this most holy night, in which Jesus passed over from death to life, the Church invites all faithful people, dispersed throughout the world, to gather in vigil and prayer. For this is the Passover of the Lord, in which, by hearing his Word and celebrating his Sacraments, we share in his victory over death.
Good Friday Ecumenical Service
In previous years, it has long been the tradition to hold an ecumenical Good Friday Service at St. Columba's in Boothbay Harbor. This year we continue that spirit by inviting everyone near and far to gather for a reading of the Passion and to pray the Solemn Collects.
The Way of the Cross
This devotion known as the Way of the Cross is drawn from our Christian tradition which is widely observed by pilgrims to Jerusalem. This is a contemporary offering of prayer at a series of places in that city traditionally associated with Jesus' passion and death. Accompanying the podcast is a PDF link bulletin illustrating contemporary line drawings of the 14 stations, linked on @St.C's website.
Reflections of The Way of the Cross
At each of the fourteen stations associated with Jesus' passion and death, Maria+ reads reflections that interweave scripture, tradition, and contemporary action we can take now to live out the Way of Love. Accompanying the podcast is a PDF link bulletin illustrating contemporary line drawings of the 14 stations, linked on @St.C's website.
