By St Joseph Cafasso King'ong'o Parish

Joseph Cafasso (Italian: Giuseppe Cafasso; 15 January 1811 – 23 June 1860) was an Italian Roman Catholic priest who was a significant social reformer in Turin. He was one of the so-called "Social Saints" who emerged during that particular era. He is known as the "Priest of the Gallows" due to his extensive work with those prisoners who were condemned to death. But he was also known for his excessive mortifications despite his frail constitution: he neglected certain foods and conditions to remain as frugal and basic as possible unless a doctor ordered otherwise. Gospel John 2:1-11

Jesus Changes Water Into Wine

1 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.  3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” 4 “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. 8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet. ”They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” 11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

JUMAMOSI: JUMA LA 4 LA KWARESIMA

SOMO 1

Yer. 11:18-20

Bwana akanijulisha haya, nami nikayajua; ndipo uliponionyesha matendo yao.

Tumshukuru Bwana.

WIMBO WA KATIKATI

Zab. 7:1-2, 8-12 (K) 1

(K) Bwana, Mungu wangu, nimekukimbilia Wewe.

Bwana, Mungu wangu, nimekukimbilia Wewe,

Uniokoe na wote wanaonifuatia, uniponye.

Asije akaipapura nafsi yangu kama samba,

Akiivunja-vunja pasipokuwa na wa kuponya. (K)

Bwana, unihukumu mimi,

Kwa kadiri ya haki yangu,

Sawasawa na unyofu nilio nao.

Ubaya wao wasio haki na ukome,

Lakini umthibitishe mwenye haki. (K)

Ngao yangu ina Mungu,

Awaokoaye wanyofu wa moyo.

Mungu ni mwamuzi mwenye haki,

Naam, Mungu aghadhibikaye kila siku. (K)

SHANGILIO

Lk. 15:18

Sifa kwako Ee Kristo.

Lenten Weekday, Day of abstinence from meat (age 14 and up) First Reading: Wisdom 2: 1a, 12-22:  1 For they have said, reasoning with themselves, but not right: The time of our life is short and tedious, and in the end of a man there is no remedy, and no man hath been known to have returned from hell: 12 Let us therefore lie in wait for the just, because he is not for our turn, and he is contrary to our doings, and upbraideth us with transgressions of the law, and divulgeth against us the sins of our way of life. 13 He boasteth that he hath the knowledge of God, and calleth himself the son of God. 14 He is become a censurer of our thoughts. 15 He is grievous unto us, even to behold: for his life is not like other men’s, and his ways are very different. 16 We are esteemed by him as triflers, and he abstaineth from our ways as from filthiness, and he preferreth the latter end of the just, and glorieth that he hath God for his father. 17 Let us see then if his words be true, and let us prove what shall happen to him, and we shall know what his end shall be. 18 For if he be the true son of God, he will defend him, and will deliver him from the hands of his enemies. 19 Let us examine him by outrages and tortures, that we may know his meekness and try his patience. 20 Let us condemn him to a most shameful death: for there shall be respect had unto him by his words. 21 These things they thought, and were deceived: for their own malice blinded them. 22 And they knew not the secrets of God, nor hoped for the wages of justice, nor esteemed the honour of holy souls.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 34: 17-18, 19-20, 21 and 23

17 But the countenance of the Lord is against them that do evil things: to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 18 The just cried, and the Lord heard them: and delivered them out of all their troubles. 19 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a contrite heart: and he will save the humble of spirit. 20 Many are the afflictions of the just; but out of them all will the Lord deliver them. 21The Lord keepeth all their bones, not one of them shall be broken. 23The Lord will redeem the souls of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall offend.

Gospel: John 7: 1-2, 10, 25-30: 1 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him. 2 Now the Jews’ feast of tabernacles was at hand. 10 But after his brethren were gone up, then he also went up to the feast, not openly, but, as it were, in secret. 25 Some therefore of Jerusalem said: Is not this he whom they seek to kill? 26 And behold, he speaketh openly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers known for a truth, that this is the Christ? 27 But we know this man, whence he is: but when the Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is. 28 Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching, and saying: You both know me, and you know whence I am: and I am not come of myself; but he that sent me, is true, whom you know not. 29 I know him, because I am from him, and he hath sent me. 30 They sought therefore to apprehend him: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

Thursday Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament

Thursday Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament

Twelve Biblical Reasons For Wanting To Spend One Hour With Jesus In The Blessed Sacrament

1. He is really there!
"I myself am the living bread come down from heaven." (Jn 6:35)

2. Day and night Jesus dwells in the Blessed Sacrament because of his Infinite love for you!
"Behold I will be with you always even to the end of the world," because  "I have loved you with an everlasting love, and constant is my  affection for you." (Mt 28:20; Jer 31:3)

3. The specific way that Jesus asks you to love him in return is to spend one quiet hour with him in the Blessed Sacrament.
"Where your treasure is, there is your heart...." "Could you not watch one hour with me?" (Mt 6:21; 26:40)

4. When you look upon the Sacred Host, you look upon Jesus, the Son of God.
"Indeed, this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks upon the  Son and believes in him shall have eternal life. Him I will raise up on  the last day." (Jn 6:40)

5. Each moment that you spend in His Eucharistic Presence will increase  his divine life within you and deepen your personal relationship and  friendship with him.
"I have come that you may have life, and have it more abundantly." "I am  the vine and you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him  shall bear much fruit because without me, you can do nothing." (Jn 15:5)

6. Each hour you spend with Jesus will deepen his divine peace in your heart.
"Come to me all of you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will  refresh you..." "Cast all of you anxieties upon the one who cares for  you..." "My Peace is My Gift to you." (Mt 11:28; Pt 5:7; Jn 14:17)

7. Jesus will give you all the graces you need to be happy!
"The Lamb on the throne will shepherd them. He will lead them to the springs of life-giving water." (Rev 7:17)

8. Jesus is infinitely deserving of our unceasing thanksgiving and adoration for all he has done for our salvation.
"Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive honor, glory and praise." (Rev. 5:12)

9. For peace in our country!
"When my people humble themselves and seek my presence... I will revive their land." (2Chr 7:14)

10. Each hour you spend with Jesus on earth will leave your soul everlastingly more beautiful and glorious in heaven!
"They who humble themselves shall be exalted...." "All of us, gazing on  the Lord’s glory with unveiled faces, are being transformed from glory  to glory into his very image." (Lk 18:14; 2Cor 3:18)

11. Jesus will bless you, your family and the whole world for this hour of faith you spend with Him in the Blessed Sacrament.
"Blessed are they who do not see and yet believe..." "Faith can move  mountains..." " What is needed is trust... " "Behold I come to make all  things new." (Jn 20:29; Mk 11:23; Mk 5:36; Rev 21:5)

12. Each moment you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament brings joy, pleasure, and delight to his Sacred Heart!
"My joy, my pleasure, my delight is to be with you." (Prov 8:31)

MASOMO YA MISA, MACHI 25, 2020
JUMATANO, JUMA LA 3 LA KWARESIMA

SHEREHE YA KUPASHWA HABARI YA KUZALIWA BWANA

SOMO 1
Isa. 7:10 – 14

Tazama, Bikira atachukua mimba, atazaa mtoto mwanamume, naye atamwita  jina lake Imanueli.

Neno la Bwana… Tumshukuru Mungu.

WIMBO WA KATIKATI
Zab. 40:6 – 10 (K) 7 , 8

(K) Tazama, nimekuja, Ee Bwana, kuyafanya mapenzi yako.

Dhabihu na matoleo hukupendezwa nazo,
Masikio yangu umeyazibua,
Kafara na sadaka za dhambi hukuzitaka.
Ndipo niliposema, Tazama nimekuja. (K)

Katika gombo la chuo nimeandikiwa
Kuyafanya mapenzi yako,
Ee Mungu wangu, ndiyo furaha yangu;
Naam, sheria yako imo moyoni mwangu. (K)

Nimehubiri habari za haki katika kusanyiko kubwa,
Sikuizuia midomo yangu; Ee Bwana, unajua. (K)

Sikusitiri haki yako moyoni mwangu;
Nimetangaza uaminifu wako na wokovu wako.
Sikuficha fadhili zako wala kweli yako
Katika kusanyiko kubwa. (K)

SOMO 2
Ebr. 10:4 – 10

Tumshukuru Mungu.

SHANGILIO
Yn. 1:14

Neno alifanyika mwili, akakaa kwetu, nasi tukaona utukufu wake.

INJILI
Kisha  malaika akaondoka akaenda zake.

Neno la Bwana… Sifa kwako Ee Kristo.
