Ep. 154 - Andrew McUtchen (Time + Tide Watches)
This one was a long time coming. Many of you are very familiar with Andrew McUtchen, the Captain of the ship known as Time & Tide. With the growth of his business and the expansion into brick and mortar retail, I was super excited to have him on the show.Andrew is a guy with tons to share, and I can’t thank him enough for his candor and being open to many of the business-related topics discussed.Being a man of service, and providing wonderful hospitality is all in a days’ work and this podcast is just the conduit through which to share it all, so I hope you enjoy.

F1 Podcast w Blake Buettner - Miami 2025

Ep. 153 - Jefferson Shallenberger (Sugar Percussion)
As someone who plays drums, naturally, I follow several drummers. It was when @sterloid posted a particular snare that I reached out to today’s guest, Jefferson Shallenberger, founder of Sugar Percussion. We chat drum building, Sugar’s beginnings and process, Jefferson’s time spent building furniture, and we even dig into his internal work which has affected every relationship he shares. We wrap things up discussing a very special watch and the story behind the two unique cars in his garage - one hosts an incredibly beautiful steering wheel made from Claro Walnut, Ebony and Holly.

Pit Stop 4.22.25

Ep. 152 - Quaid Walker (Bezel - Pre-Owned Watch Sales Platform)

Ep. 151 - George Glasgow, Jr. (George Cleverley Shoes)
I tell you what - this podcast costs me a lot of money. I’m so enthralled with my guests and what they do I almost argue I’m required to buy more products as a result of these recordings. Today is an absolute testament to this as George Glasgow, Jr. is my guest today. George is the CEO of George Cleverley, a business his father, George Sr., took over from the original George (Cleverley). I have long been a fan of this brand for the better part of 20 years - since the days I was living in North Carolina & introduced through the pages of GQ & Esquire. Like many subjects on this podcast, shoes can be an addiction, and if you have a brand of shoe that fits you so well, you’ll more than likely agree. George and I talk about his early days working, drinking whiskey together, the car he’s been hunting, as well as some distinctions of the various models in the Cleverley range. I’m thrilled to now call George a friend, and I had the distinct pleasure to meet George, Sr. last Fall where I snapped several portraits of Father & Son in black and white which I’ll be sure to post.

Ep. 148 - Paul Boutros (Phillips Watch Auctions)
No doubt, if you’ve been into watches for a while, Paul Boutros is a name that’s more than likely come up. His watch journey began as a child, not unlike many of us, but his affinity for the hobby led to a career when he left his job at Lockheed Martin and joined Philips Auction House over a decade ago. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Paul throughout the last several months, and today’s conversation only furthered that fact. This episode is one of those where it twists and turns and arguably starts backwards, which was super fun. Please enjoy my conversation about, you guessed it, cars and watches, and a little bit of missile defense with Paul Boutros.

Ep. 147 - Douglas Weber (Weber Workshops)

Ep. 146 - Alp Sever (Langepedia)
As you may know, I’m a massive fan of A. Lange & Söhne, the watch brand based in Glashütte, Germany, and it doesn’t take long to encounter my guest’s website when doing any version of a deep dive on the brand. Alp Sever’s website, Langepedia, began as an Instagram page only to later evolve into the place to gain even more knowledge about these amazing timepieces from the state of Saxonia. Somewhat unexpectedly, in my favorite way, Alp and I go off-piste, conversationally and chat about heavy metal, public transportation, as well as tobacco and olive farming. This was a super fun episode for me, and I can promise this won’t be Alp’s only time on the show, so I hope you enjoy it.

Ep. 145 - Christian Knoop ( Chief Design Officer IWC Watches)

Ep. 144 - Glenn Au (Junior's)

Ep. 143 - Tim Mosso 2 (The 1916 Company, 1-Minute Watch Reviews, Watches Tonight on Facebook/YouTube)

Ep. 142 - Trevor Wynn (Pare Pare Podcast)
If you’ve ever listened to the podcast, Pare Pare, I think it goes without saying, its host Trevor Wynn and I have several interests in common. He and I have recorded twice for his show in two different locations, so when we were scheduling this conversation, we made it a third, and it isn’t just any location - we actually recorded this in my car. We met in Orange County to attend an event at the IWC Boutique at South Coast Plaza, so it served as an insanely convenient, quiet place for us to talk Monterey Car Week, his personal car journey, and of course his experience with watches. We get into the whys and hows of Pare Pare and Trevor also shares a bit about his day job as an employment defense lawyer. I’m super happy to call Trevor a friend and I’m equally as happy to share this chat with all of you.

Ep. 134 - Wes Kwok (Nodus Watches & Intersect Show)
In the watch world, you have huge brands, big brands, independent brands, small brands, and even micro brands. But today’s episode with Wes Kwok of Nodus Watches highlights some big moves. From starting with nothing, to reinvesting in his company with his partner, Cullen, only to begin producing parts for others, the journey has been no small task. Further, Wes and Nodus have led the charge for a new kind of watch show with Intersect, where the focus is to keep the crowds to a minimum while having a large, supportive community impact. This conversation even begins with Wes’s recent big trip which you’ll hear about.

Ep. 133 - Neall Brick (Citizen Watches)

Ep. 132 - Katrina Vrakas (Jeweler)
I first learned about Katrina Vrakas through one of her pieces of jewelry worn by none other than her brother, Justin. I met him at my booth at WindUp Chicago nearly two years ago, and I find myself developing something with Katrina as we speak.
Her jewelry is unlike most, which is why I’m drawn to it, and it was wonderful to learn more about her background, how & why she got into jewelry, as well as her history with watches. I found my world shrank further when she told me recently that she’d once worked for Analog Shift - a company I’m sure most of you are aware of.
I’ll leave the rest for Katrina to share.

Ep. 131 - Jussi Oksanen (Pro Snowboarder Turned Commercial Photographer)

Ep. 130 - Marco Gerace (TLG Auto)
Mechanics. So many have the reputation that seamlessly dovetail into similar conversations about used car salesmen. Well, I can assure you today’s guest’s reputation precedes him, as I heard how amazing of a human Marco Gerace was prior to ever meeting him. Over the last several months, we began an Instagram DM dialogue, and have chatted at a few meetups where I took a chance on him coming on the pod. He obliged and here we are: me introducing one of the best-known Porsche mechanics in all of Southern California and for good reason. TLG Auto is incredibly reputable and his clients are everyone you probably follow online. Our conversation is full of heart in my opinion, starting with some horological enthusiasm, followed by some meaningful family discussion, and of course some car talk. Today’s episode is one of those that absolutely flew by for me, so please enjoy my conversation with Marco Gerace.

Ep. 129.5 - Pit Stop with Bryan Braddy of Bad Art Nice Watch Interviewing Wesley

Ep. 129 - John Reardon (Collectability)

Ep. 128 - Wes Wynne (Collectors Corner NY)
Wes Wynne and I met through mutual friends back in October in NYC. We share a lot of the same passions including cars, watches and music, so it was only natural that we’d hit it off. With the growing number of watch dealers, I was excited to host Wes, who launched Collectors Corner New York only a few years ago after a career in the music business, which I was unaware of. Today, Wes focuses on the best examples of the pieces he sells, so rest assured if you’re buying from him, he’s done a lot of legwork for you already. His innate sense of research is apparent as you’ll soon hear, and he is one of the most down to earth people in the watch game, so I’m stoked to call him a friend.Per usual, the conversation twists and turns including his collegiate level Squash game.

Ep. 126 - Matt Hranek 2 (WM Brown)
Today I welcome Matt Hranek back to the podcast. You’ll know him primarily for his books, A Man and His Watch, A Man and His Car, perhaps you subscribe to his magazine, W M Brown…Chatting with Matt is the epitome of effortless as you’ll soon understand. We jump around, subject to subject, we chat style, travel, his latest book, A Man and His Kitchen, there’s some watch talk, and of course some car conversation as well. I hope you still enjoy it.

Ep. 124 - Paul Sweetenham (Farer Watches)
Paul Sweetenham and I first met in 2022 in New York City at wind up. We were introduced by former podcast guest Carter Mclean who told me how much of a car guy Paul was, so I was excited to chat. This conversation certainly ping-pongs back-and-forth between automotive talk and of course his watch brand, Farer. I was excited to also get Paul’s take on some Formula 1 news, only confirming Carter was right: Paul was an ideal candidate for this show, so I hope you enjoy it.

Ep. 122 - Adam Golden (Menta Watches)
If there’s such thing as a player’s coach within the world of watches, it’s Adam Golden. He’s straight-forward, honest, and he can either chop it up with you or get straight to business, which I really appreciate. We chat about everything from his recent pieces bought to sell, his approach to selling them, and he’s very candid about his margins and processes which shouldn’t be taken for granted. This one went quick for me which is usually a tell-tale sign a conversation is engaging so I hope you feel the same.

Ep. 120 - RT Custer (Vortic Watches & Colorado Watch Company)
RT Custer started Vortic Watches right around the time I started STANDARD H, and the better part of the last decade has been an adventure for him to say the least. He started a company, was in a 6-year lawsuit with Swatch, had two kids, and then decided to start a second business alongside everything else. He’s been BUSY. Per usual, this conversation wanders and I wouldn’t have it any other way, so I hope you feel the same.

Ep. 119 - Spencer Reynolds (Artist)
Spencer Reynolds is an artist I met at the US open of surfing in Huntington Beach, California, roughly 10 years ago. His art struck me by way of its trippy, surrealist approach to landscapes and ocean scenes. This conversation certainly took some turns I didn’t expect, including his time working in the wakeboarding industry, as well as some time, spent chatting about his meditation practice, and overall things in conjunction with mental health. I can’t thank Spencer enough for his candor, and without further ado, let’s jump into this episode.

Ep. 118 - Josh Shapiro (J. N. Shapiro Watches)
Josh Shapiro and I met through an event with the guys from The Collective this past summer. We’d been exchanging emails about getting together for a while, but hadn’t yet met face to face, so it was a treat to meet him out and about as well as among some watches!Josh has a fascinating background in the educational system - he was a Principal, in fact - so he wasn’t exactly born into the Watch industry. However, as you’ll learn, he was kind of primed for it in his own way. Today, his company, J. N. Shapiro, produces some of the most beautiful watch dials on the planet, and Josh has officially set out to restore watch manufacturing here in the United States. He’s a baseball fan, and talk about a big swing…and he’s certainly kept his eye on the ball, and has seemingly made solid contact. Here’s my conversation with Josh Shapiro.

Ep. 116 - Morgan King (Watch Collector/Social Scoundrel)
Morgan King probably needs no introduction. He’s a double-wristing watch aficionado, affectionately known as a Magical Man of Mystery, a NY native and an LA resident…he’s also one of my favorite people to hang out with, full stop.I’m thrilled Morgan took the time to come on the show, because his energy is simply unmatched.
