Renewable Energy

According to the United States environmental protection agency, about 14.5 trillion tons of greenhouse gasses are in our atmosphere. But what strategies are local governments working on for lowering the amount of greenhouse gasses with the use of off and on side renewable energy sources? And what are those sources? Tune into our episode to learn more out what strategies local governments are taking to make the community more environmental friendly with the use of off-site and on-site renewable energy sources. We are joined with special guests Laura Tellez, the Solar United Neighbors South Florida program coordinator, and Susannah Troner, the Miami-Dade County Office Senior Resilience and Sustainability Coordinator. Climate and Housing

Climate and Housing

Have you ever seen those blue and green spots on your walls, bathroom shower, even cabinets?  Whether it's the slimy black spots on your shower curtain, the fuzzy white patches on your basement floor, or the slick orange film that forms on your kitchen drain, water and humidity are two elements that help them grow and multiply constantly. And living in Miami, residents are exposed to this uninvited guest almost everywhere, and even worse, it can go undetected for too long. We are joined by Mr Mold, Joel Heiblum, to discuss what mold is and how it could lead people to have uninhabitable properties, Taylor Snider, from Struggle for Miami's Affordable and Sustainable Housing, to talk more about residents affected by the symptoms of gentrification and slumlords, and Theresa Pinto from The People's Economic and Environmental Resilience Group, to talk about their weatherization programs and pro bon services.
