As 2024 begins, we’ll explore the distinction between merely "going through the Bible" as a task-oriented checklist and the profound act of "reading the Bible" to foster a deeper relationship with God. Drawing on her personal experience of transitioning from a rigid Bible reading plan to a more reflective and meditative approach, we’ll emphasizes the importance of allowing the Word to become flesh in our lives. We’ll learn practical tips on building a daily Bible reading habit to grow in our relationship with God, starting with reading Proverbs and Psalms. Spend some time reading and meditating on Proverbs 4, specifically verses 4-9:
(4) he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words; keep my commandments, and live. Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight. Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her. She will place on your head a graceful garland; she will bestow on you a beautiful crown.

Matthew 7:13-14 | How to Develop Emotional Intelligence Part 2
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Let's go through the Bible and talk about Matthew 7. In part 2, I want to talk about our identity in Christ and how that relates to developing emotional intelligence. The two gates that Jesus refers to in Matthew 7:13-14 reveal two paths. We can choose one of the two paths to walk on in this life. We can either go through the wide gate which leads to destruction or the narrow gate that leads to life. There are times, though, when we hop between the two gates because of our seasons. Many things happen throughout life, especially things we don’t expect. Yet, even in our most difficult or “less-fiery” seasons, I believe there’s a way to stick to the narrow gate that leads to life.

Through The Bible Series w/ Oksie Kaparchuk | God's Word and will is FOR our benefit (1 Samuel 8)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Let’s go through the Bible with Oksana (Oksie) Kaparchuk)! In this episode, Tanya and Oksana talk through 1 Samuel 8 and how God never forces His will on us. We can’t blame God for the consequences of sin when He already provided a life away from it. God’s PLANS are for our benefit and IN our best interest to keep us from sin, but we must choose to obey and follow Him to see it happen in our life. We cannot blame God when we choose our own way and then suffer the consequences, because He warned us. God’s Word and commandments are for our benefit. Learning to trust God and open up the platform for His power when we’re weak is essential!

67 | Bible Overview of Bible Chapters (Free Download!)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: One of my most common internet searches is about the books of the Bible and the number of chapters each book has. I realized I could put the list together and share it here (on the blog) because perhaps this is something you search for as well. Having a list of the books of the Bible with the number of chapters each book contains is helpful for multiple reasons. Personally, I like to know how many chapters are in each book for fun, but also to help me create my Bible reading plans, to do deep-dive studies, plan my writing and teaching content, and also to help my memory. When I know how many chapters are in a book, it often helps me remember where certain scriptures are located.

65 | The #1 Lie Christians Believe
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: God does not view us differently whether we do or don’t do any of these things (mentioned in episode). Jesus paid the ultimate price for us to live in freedom! The yoke of slavery comes from the world and our old, sinful nature. It also refers to the entanglement of religious duties that were listed in the Old Testament. The freedom Paul talks to the Galatians about is our liberty from the pursuit of having to earn our own way to God, being set free from sin, guilt, shame, and condemnation, and the freedom from the presence of sin in our lives. When we follow Jesus, we are no longer slaves to sin. Romans 8:1 says, Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus. Believing in Jesus is all that it takes. There’s nothing we can do on our part because Jesus already did everything. Our part is to bask in the freedom and relationship with God, which leads to joy, hope, and continual transformation. It doesn’t matter what our personality type is or how passionate and “on fire” we get for God, He won’t see us any differently. Whether we’re home doing mundane tasks or pursuing our careers, His love for us doesn’t change. There’s nothing we can do to make Him love each of us more or less.

Through The Bible Series | Pleasant Words are a Delight (Proverbs 15)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Let's go through the Bible and talk about some key verses about our words in Proverbs 15!
Verses covered:
1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise makes knowledge pleasant, But the mouth of fools spouts foolishness.
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge, But the hearts of fools are not so.
17 Better is a portion of vegetables where there is love, Than a fattened ox served with hatred.
23 A person has joy in an apt answer, And how delightful is a timely word!
26 Evil plans are an abomination to the Lord, But pleasant words are pure.
28 The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.

63 | Your Actions Matter: How to Develop a Godly Character
Through The Bible Series | Steward Where You Are (1 Samuel 16-18)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: In this episode, let's go through 1 Samuel 16-18 and talk about what it looks like when we spend time with the Lord and trust in Him for ultimate protection. When He anoints and calls us, we must steward what's already in our bag, take care of our flock, and spend time in His presence. David went from being a servant at his father's house to serving in the king's house long before he ever got close to becoming king!

62 | Your Goals Matter: How to Set Intentional Goals to Live the Life You Desire
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: The things we do daily set us up for what will happen in the future. We don’t know what the future holds, but we know there are principles and objectives in life that usually lead to natural consequences and/or success. For example, if you consistently exercise and think twice before you eat, chances are you are more healthy than the people who don’t (natural evidence and result of success). If you spend more money than you make, opt in for credit cards beyond your self-control, and don’t have a savings account, chances are you will owe money and live paycheck to paycheck (natural evidence of bad choices that lead to consequences). The same goes for our relationships. How we invest in our relationships and treat the people in our lives will cause powerful relationships or broken ones. Finally, it is the same for goal-setting and the life we aspire to live. Your goals matter. The ideas, desires, and interests God put inside of you are vital for the Kingdom of God. The only thing that’s stopping you is you.

Through The Bible Series | 7 Truths About Us in Christ (Proverbs 9)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Proverbs 9 | Let's go through the Bible and talk about seven truths (pillars) about our identity in Jesus. In this entire passage, Paul is writing to the Gentiles to reassure them they are fully God’s people. He reaffirms the Gentiles of their identity in Christ. In Proverbs, wisdom is often likened to or related to the Holy Spirit. When we read through chapter nine, we can look at the verses as a beckoning of the Holy Spirit to leave the ways of the world and commit to Christ and the life He offers to us. The world will try to entice, trick, and lead us into believing who we’re not in Christ, but this chapter can help us see the seven pillars or truths about our identity in Jesus. Proverbs 9:1 says, Wisdom has built her house; she has carved its seven pillars. With the insight from Ephesians 2:19-22, I want to share these seven truths about our identity in Jesus.

61 | Your Attitude Matters: How to Maintain a Positive and Pure Attitude
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Attitude is the way we look at life and choose to see and respond or react to events, situations, people, and even ourselves. Attitude is not something that just happens to us, we choose it. We choose our attitude because it is 1) created by our thoughts, and 2) it is closely involved with our behaviors. Just like we choose the thoughts we think and replay in our heads, and the words we say to ourselves and others, we also decide how to perceive and process the events throughout our life. We decide if our mindset will ultimately be positive or negative. Therefore, it’s essential to take intentional, careful steps to train our minds, which contain our thoughts, words, and attitudes.

60 | Your Words Matter: How to Speak Kindly to Yourself and Others
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Do you speak negatively towards yourself? Do you find that negative self-talk makes you less aware of the value and calling God placed on your life? How do you speak to yourself? Negative self-talk shifts our ability to live transformed. The words we speak against ourselves hurt us more in the long-run than in the present. We may not think much of it when the negativity slips from our mouths, but later, we definitely feel weighed down, insecure, and unworthy. We grow in fear, anxiety, and depression instead of faith, love, peace, and joy. When we aren’t kind to ourselves, it will soon weigh others down, too. Let's speak kindly to ourselves and others!

Through The Bible Series | The Wine Revelation (John 2)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: John 2 | Let's go through the first half of John chapter 2. Jesus' first miracle took place on the third day of a wedding in Cana and the revealed glory of Jesus is that He truly is the foretold Savior of the world. The transformational miracle of water into wine reveals the quality of this truth! Not only did He create about 900 bottles of wine (in today's terms), but he foretold about our new life in Him through the miracle itself. Listen to be encouraged, provoked in thought, and inspired to read this chapter!

59 | Your Thoughts Matter: How to Lead Your Thoughts Instead of Following Them
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Our thoughts can get the best of us! God created and formed our minds, but the world and sin fights for our attention. We have the power to take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. We have the choice to renew our minds to be transformed. Paul says to be transformed by the renewal of your mind. I view this part of the verse as a key to leading our thoughts instead of following them. When we renew our minds, we will get transformed. There are practical things we can do to own our thoughts before they get the best of us. Tune in!

Through the Bible Series | A Life with God (Proverbs 6)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Proverbs 6 | Let's go through the Bible and talk about what a life with God looks like! A common theme throughout this chapter is how we can avoid the natural consequences of foolish behavior and choices. There are various areas of life mentioned, such as financial matters, work ethics, sexual immorality, and abominations to the Lord. But as an overarching point, Solomon teaches and counsels his son principles that will help keep him (and us) from danger and live a pure life, a life with God!

Through The Bible Series w/ Christian Mael | God wants to take the EGYPT out of us (Genesis & Exodus)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Genesis & Exodus | Let’s go through the Bible and talk about how God takes the EGPYT out of us. In this episode, Christian and Tanya share insights, revelations, and perspectives from Genesis & Exodus. God uses everything in our lives to prepare us for fulfillmenting His will. Some things we go through in life are a prerequisite for where God is leading us! God prepares us to fulfill His long-term promise. When the Israelites were in the desert for 40 years, God was taking the EGYPT out of them, and that’s what He does with us when we’re in the wilderness. He takes the WORLD out of us! What you grew up in and have been taught is not always the right way or the right perspective. Culture moves and changes quickly, but God’s word never changes. What’s good for culture isn’t necessarily good for you.
QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT:
- Has God given you a dream?
- What does God want to do with this season of your life?
- What is God trying to teach you when you read the Bible?
- What is it in your life, the pain in your life, that God will use for helping others?
- Do you have a Bible accountability partner?
- What is TRUTH???
- Who’s the authority in your life?
- When you are looking for answers, what do you go to? WHO do you go to?
EPISODE QUOTES:
- “God used everything in Joseph’s life
- “Everything that people have done wrong to me or wanted to use it in an evil way, God has used it for good in my personal life.”
- “Lord, what do you want to do with this season of my life?”
- “When you read the Bible, read it SLOW.”
- “All the pain we have in our life has purpose.”
- “It’s not that God doesn’t want us to move forward. A lot of times we choose not to!”
- “God would be cruel if He gave you something and you’re not ready for it.”
- “Try to unlearn what you already know and go to the Word of God not thinking the way you’ve always been thinking.”
- “I align my beliefs with the TRUTH of God.”
ENCOURAGEMENT TO GO THROUGH THE BIBLE FROM CHRISTIAN: “Make a commitment to be in the word of God daily. The word of God can and transform your life if you read and apply it every day. Forget everything you know, and trust God to direct your path! Study, read, and develop the daily habit. Five minutes can do a lot!”

Through The Bible Series | God's INTENT for rest & pleasure (Genesis 2)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Genesis 2 | Let’s go through the Bible and talk about God’s INTENT for rest & pleasure. In this episode, Tanya shares insights, revelations, and perspectives from Genesis 2. When we look at chapters from the Bible and go verse by verse, section by section, we’ll see how it all comes around full circle. The things of God make sense and the things of the world become less tasteful. What God intended for our good (rest and pleasure) was twisted and infected by the world, but God still made a way to bring it back to his original design.
QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT:
What does rest mean to you?
What is your perspective of pleasure?
Do you think rest and pleasure are of the world or of God?
EPISODE QUOTES:
“Rest days are holy and needed.”
“At the end of work, we too can come home and say, ‘it is good.’”
“We are not puppets, but we have a choice to make.”
“Dust isn’t evil and isn’t nothing, but it is next to nothing - a humble substance which we are all made from.”
“Our life has value because God breathed into us.”
“Our nature is fragile from the get-go, but God breathes His life and provides the power.”
“When he created, he brought into existence. When he formed, he fashioned or gradually put parts together.”
“It’s all about relationship always. God’s plan is the best plan.”
“The world tainted enjoyment, pleasure, and obedience, but God flips the script for us every time, but only if we lean in to Him and hear Him.”
ENCOURAGEMENT TO GO THROUGH THE BIBLE FROM TANYA: “Find rest, enjoyment, and pleasure in God’s word. If you’re married, enjoy God together. If you’re single, trust God’s process for marriage for you. And also, flip the script when the world tries to entice, confuse, and tempt you into its things. The things of the LORD are so much better.”

Through The Bible Series w/ Elise Yaremkiv | It STARTS when you SURRENDER (Exoduse & Deuteronomy)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Exodus & Deuteronomy | Let’s go through the Bible and talk about God’s pursuit for each of us. It STARTS when you surrender. In this episode, Elise (Tanya’s sister in law) and Tanya talk about the insights, revelations, and perspectives from our recent studies in Exodus and Deuteronomy. When we go through the Bible, especially the Old Testament, we can easily get turned off, but the thing we need to come back to is “but Jesus.” When this is at the forefront of your mind, you see God’s love and grace. When you read the Bible, you start processing differently.
QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT:
What is your meaning and purpose for life?
What should a relationship with God and others look like?
Why can’t we clearly decide the GOOD that God intends for us?
Why do we think God is limited just because He’s not doing what He did in the OT?
Is God also a God of wrath and anger?
EPISODE QUOTES:
“Obedience does not earn the relationship but is in response to it”
“God is close to you and DO GOOD because of His closeness”
“God wants nothing more than to show you who He is”
“When you are reading something that you don’t agree with and you shut off, that just shows you don’t really want to get to know Him — you don’t need to fully understand why. God will show His grace”
“He made you to be HOLY”
“If we can’t agree on if vanilla ice cream is good or not, why are we arguing about higher things?”
ENCOURAGEMENT TO GO THROUGH THE BIBLE FROM ELISE: “Start off with prayer. Pray before you dive into Genesis 1:1 and ask God to wipe your mind clean because you want to know God for who He is, not based on your opinions or what you know. Start reading with this goal in mind: I want to know God.”

58 | 31 Day Challenge | Do this and change your life!
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Wisdom is something we should constantly get throughout our lives. There’s no destination in wisdom. If there was, we wouldn’t be human and we wouldn’t need God. Proverbs 25:2 says, It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings is to search out a matter. Searching matters out and asking questions is part of our human nature, and it is our honor (or glory, as some translations say) to search things out. We get wisdom from doing so. I challenge you to read Proverbs for 31 days because it will change your life. It definitely did for me!

57 | The Power of a Pause: 3 Areas to Pause
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Pausing seems inconvenient and somewhat unnecessary, but I’ve personally begun appreciating the importance and power of pausing. Pausing is mentally stimulating and helps us and others get grounded in what we say, do, or believe in. This episode is about the importance and power of a pause in podcasts, conversations, our daily hustle, and our thoughts. How do you pause?

56 | How to Overcome Imposter Syndrome
Many of us fear being exposed as frauds. At first, it appears as self-doubt and hesitation. But when this fear becomes persistent, it hinders us from actually pursuing the life we want. It puts us in a place of constant questioning, unnecessary anxiety, and even unhealthy views of ourselves. We then get familiar with these subsequent feelings and continue to feel them instead of flipping the script. When we change our lives by working on new habits, setting new goals, and trying new things, it will be unfamiliar because it means there is room for growth. We haven’t crossed the finish line. There’s more to learn. So, we need to flip the script and change our perspective. As I’ve researched this topic and the various approaches towards overcoming imposter syndrome, I wanted to share one perspective that has helped me overcome impostorism.

Through The Bible Series w/ Niki Martschinske | Trusting God without knowing the details (Genesis 12 & 37)
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Genesis 12 & 37 | Let’s go through the Bible and talk about what it looks like trusting God without knowing the details. In this episode, we talk about the insights, revelations, and perspectives from our recent studies in Genesis 12 (Abram’s story) and Genesis 37 (Joseph’s story). We cover Abram and his obedience and downfalls; what it looks like having holy fear and reverence of God vs. human fear; questioning what is His will and when to go for it; about Joseph and what he went through for character refining; having full dependence on the Lord for His big picture; connecting with others for relationship and growth in God; how today’s culture and society looks at independence and dependence on God and others; immersing yourself into the reality of God by being in a relationship with others; division in the church and among people.
QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT:
Would you go if the Lord told you to go somewhere, but without knowing where you’re going?
How do you trust God when you’re afraid?
How have you been able to establish when God is telling you to do something vs your own thoughts?
How do you know when it’s God vs your own fanciful ideas?
EPISODE QUOTES:
God would not leave us in a questioning place at the risk of our disobedience to Him.
Your obedience matters in the moment of what God is calling you to!
Ultimate dependence on others is our ultimate reflection on how we depend on God.
ENCOURAGEMENT TO GO THROUGH THE BIBLE FROM NIKI: “Just read. Let the Holy Spirit bring revelation to you, talk to other people about your Bible reading. Trust the Holy Spirit and have open questions. ASK questions because the answers will not seem super clear at first, but the Lord will reveal when we ask.”

55 | What Prevents Us from Hearing God
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: In John 10:27, Jesus said to us, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” One of the biggest lies we’re told (as Christians) is that something is still wrong with us after salvation. If this were true, then why did Christ die for us? We must affirm ourselves of the truth that we can hear His voice. Like with any relationship, communication is key, but not only that, learning to communicate with one another is an even more essential key. Listen to find out more.

54 | Instead of New Year’s Resolutions, Do This
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Create a system that works for you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
A system is a framework that helps us stay in the groove of achieving and refining our goals and resolutions continually. No matter what happens during the day or week, a system in place will help us get closer to where and who we want to be.
Resolutions are helpful, but only if you consistently work on them. When setting goals and resolutions become part of our lifestyle, and part of our systems, it doesn’t really matter what time of year it is. This means that we are openly and constantly looking to improve ourselves, our lifestyles, and everything in between (relationships, careers, etc.).
When we make resolutions and set goals, a system in place will help us focus on refining our daily choices and reflecting on those refined choices so that we can see results that bring us closer to our desired lifestyle.

Through the Bible Series | Introduction (Matthew 28:19-20)
The goal of this series is for us to understand God’s word better, grow in our relationship with Jesus, disciple & be discipled.
So, in each episode, I’ll go through a chapter or two from the Bible and talk through it by sharing insights, revelations, and perspectives from my recent studies. I plan to talk through even the difficult parts of the Bible, the topics that aren’t always addressed at church, the confusing and even weird parts of the Bible, and to open it up for further discussion.

53 | The Importance of Routines: 3 Routines You Need to Establish
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: When people think about establishing a routine, they sometimes assume that it means to create a Groundhog-Day-lifestyle, but it’s quite the opposite. Intentional routines protect you from you. They protect you from becoming stagnant, set you up for growth and success, and revitalize you to live in purpose. Intentional routines are made up of habits that prepare you for your future. Instead of living on autopilot, where life feels too predictable, repetitive, and, frankly, dull, I want to challenge you to establish the following three intentional routines. It will take some time, which is why many people don’t want to go through with it. But if you’re tired of living in default mode, tired of letting life happen to you rather than making it happen, and tired of feeling stagnant, here are some tips to establish systems that protect you from you.

51 | Falling Behind Intentionally; Create Routines That Work
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: We fill our calendars, to-do lists, and reminders; download all the apps to simplify our life; but instead of a fulfilling, satisfying life, you end up with a busy schedule and a jumbled mind. You feel cluttered, which makes you seem scattered and a bit all over the place. But there is power in having a routine. There’s even MORE power in having an intentional routine that sets you up for success. A routine where you become less busy mentally and more confident daily. Where you get fresh outlooks and live intentionally. No matter what you do, there will always be a drill you go through every day, despite its specifics. So, why not be intentional and make it the best? The power behind having a strategic and intentional routine is so that when success AND hardship comes, you’re able to use your reflexes that built up over time.

49 | The Day After Christmas: Including Jesus in the New Year
EPISODE DESCRIPTION: Jesus' birth gave us a way to be born again. After all, it’s the premise of John chapter 3. Jesus explains what it means to be born again, referencing scripture left and right, explaining the simplicity of the Gospel to Nicodemus, a teacher of Israel. Nicodemus questioned and pondered on Jesus’ words, as many of us once did, but I’m curious to know if he stayed there, in questioning mode, as some of us still do. The traditions, church services, carols, and presents seem to take precedence over the reason for the season, but for those who fellowship with Christ, it only enhances the experience. Listen to this short episode about including Jesus after the Christmas season.
