Episode 6: Stand firm in God's Word ( 1 Peter 1: 22- 2:3)
Having been brought into a new birth by the powerful Word of God, Peter exhorts his readers to stand firm in that Word which is sure and imperishable. He then goes on to encourage them to crave that life giving Word so that by it , they may grow up to maturity . In this episode. Tawanda is pointing us to that same Word and helping us to see that God is at work in our world through his Word.
Episode 5: Stand firm in holiness ( 1 Peter 1: 13-21 )
No other God is like our God. Our God is holy, he is different from Allah, Buddha, from Musikavanhu or any other god. And because this holy God has called us to himself, to be his people, we are called to live holy lives. But what does this holiness look like in real life? Tawanda takes us through 1 Peter 1: 13-21, seeking to see what is the nature of this holiness to which Peter is calling his readers to.
Episode 4: Stand firm in your salvation ( 1 Peter 1: 1-12 )
Peter was writing to Christians who were scattered in the area we now call Turkey. These Christians were facing many challenges. They were being persecuted for their faith.Peter says he is writing to declare the grace of God and exhort them to stand firm in that grace.
Episode 3 : Thinking Biblically about the end times
A quick look at the world news will leave you with a gloomy picture of the world we live in, and some big questions about our future. COVID-19 is spreading all over the world with over 1.5 million confirmed cases and over a hundred thousand deaths. No vaccine has been found yet and the virus is spreading. Is this the end of the world? Are these signs of the second coming of Christ?
Tawanda Masango seeks to point us to the Scriptures so that we will think biblically about the last days. Tawanda is a campus staff worker with FOCUS Zimbabwe, working at the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
Episode 2 : COVID-19, God's Megaphone
How can a loving and powerful God allow evil and suffering to the extend that we see in our world? Different versions of this question have been asked by many people facing pain and suffering in its various forms. CS Lewis said these words which are so apt: “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world”
In this Episode Tawanda take through some Scriptures as we seek to see how God is speaking to us loudly though COVID-19. Tawanda is a campus staff worker with the Fellowship of Christian Unions (FOCUS Zimbabwe ) based at the National University of Science and Technology ( NUST) in Bulawayo , Zimbabwe .
Episode 1 : Fear not , God is with us
In this first Episode, we look at the reasons for David's faith in the face of trouble as we seek to live lives of faith, not fear in the face of COVID-19. From Psalm 23:4, we see that the main reason for David's confidence is not the elimination of suffering but the sure presence of the Lord with him in suffering.
