As an entrepreneur, diversity is critical for future-proofing your business. Whether it’s exploring new services or adding new product lines, the best way to protect your business from recession is to offer a variety of services to your customers.
As dental practitioners, there is a wide range of services and procedures we can consider adding to our already established dental practices, and each procedure offers a unique variety of benefits and opportunities to increase our revenue.
On today’s episode, I discuss the importance of creating clinical diversity in your dental practice. I discuss the benefits of billing medical insurance for a variety of standard dental procedures and the benefits of adding sleep apnea treatment to your list of services. TBS152 Pivoting Your Dental Practice: Creating Firm Financial Arrangements & Categorizing Patients Part 3 of 8
As a dental practice owner, it’s important to ensure your practice is continually improving, helping patients, and increasing your profit margin year over year. While insurance companies typically control the price for most general dentistry procedures, there are services and practices that you have more control over the price you charge. But how do you increase the price of advanced and emotional dental procedures without receiving a resounding ‘no, thank you’ from your patients?
In this episode, I explain how to create firm financial arrangements in your dental practice and the impact that categorizing your patients into three key components can have on scaling your business. I explain what a firm financial arrangement is, why it’s critical for pivoting your practice into a modern-day dental business, and how developing an internal payment plan can help you increase your prices while making your services affordable for your patients. I also explain the difference between no-treatment patients, minor treatment patients, and major treatment patients and how understanding how to categorize your patients into these three components can help your practice run more efficiently.

TBS150 Pivoting Your Dental Practice: The Fast Pass to Fulfillment and Financial Freedom Part 1 of 8
Complacency and stagnation are two ‘silent killers’ for any small business. And if the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over while expecting a different result, then for dental practitioners, the best option for scaling and growing your business is to consider how you can pivot. Many dentists believe that to increase their revenue, they must increase their workload by seeing more patients. But there are other alternatives to achieve financial freedom and fulfillment without seeing more patients.

Getting Patients to YES with Dr. Paul Homoly
I have a firm belief that dentists aren't achieving their potential - clinically, financially, or enjoyment. And in my opinion it boils down to the fact that we simply don't connect with our patients.
This lack of connection decreases case acceptance, has patients choosing to do less dentistry when they say yes, increases our reliance on dental insurance, and drives us to see more and more patients. This ultimately leads to burnout and disenchantment with our profession.
In this conversation with Dr. Paul Homoly we discuss how we can better engage with our patients. Paul has been one of my greatest influences in my dental career.
Do yourself a favor and take his online training - http://www.3D-Dentists.com/homoly .
Medical Billing and Dentistry with Mr. Hootan Shahidi
There are three ways to grow revenue in a dental practice. Of the three the best way is to increase reimbursement for procedures you are already doing and/or doing for free. Medical billing has the potential for just that - it can increase reimbursement for existing procedures (medical often pays better than dental), it can help you get paid for procedures that we typically write off (because dental insurance doesn't cover or 'bundles'), and it can open whole new arenas of procedures because medical insurance will greatly reduce patient out of pocket (sleep apnea therapy, TMJ orthotics, infant lip/tongue tie, etc).
In this episode, I sit down with Mr. Hootan Shahidi of Crossover Dental Enterprises, a medical billing done for your service specifically for dentists, and talk about the whys, whats, and whens of medical billing in the dental practice.
