Ep. 46: "People with mental health issues need to be locked up and treated..." #BSDetector
Do people with mental health issues pose a threat to society? Should they be locked up and treated before being allowed back into society? These myths may not be very common but they certainly seem to exist deep in the subconscious of several people. The doc disposes the myth off with his typical short-but-straightforward approach in this episode...

Ep. 43: Virus, variants, and vaccines… #Gyandemic
We are now a year into the pandemic but, weirdly, we seem to have gone back to square one with cases exploding all over again and the threat of a lockdown looming upon us – all because a new variant is causing way more havoc than the OG virus did the first time around. What is happening? Why is it happening? Listen to this episode to find out all about it.

EP 41. "If we can make COVID-19 into this mild disease, like a cold or a flu, that is a huge win!" #Gyandemic
It was going well for a while, for us Indians. A month ago, something changed. Now we’re all watching nervously as the numbers creep up and hoping this is just a blip and not something more serious. Meanwhile, a new vaccine has joined the fight against this virus. Can we come out ahead of a mindless mutation which seems to somehow find new ways to evade our attempts to render it irrelevant? Can we do it before it consumes more of us?

Ep. 40: "Insanity cannot be cured." #BSDetector
Insanity is not what it seems! What you thought was insanity all along was just something that was made up to ensure that people did not do something stupid or... insane. Does this feel like you are losing control of your sanity? Well, you should really listen to the episode. It will help you come to grips with your own, uh, sanity.

In this episode, Dr. Bhooshan reveals the truth about such people and it may surprise you to know that some of your fears might just be unfounded…

Ep. 38: "Mental problems remain hidden and when they do manifest they are difficult to treat..." #BSDetector
There is a belief that mental problems remain hidden under the surface for a majority of our lives and then suddenly come to the fore at which point it is usually too late to do anything about them. As you may have already guessed, this isn’t entirely true and the doc explains very clearly in this episode why it isn’t entirely true.

Ep. 35: “A good dose of positivity keeps all your mental health issues away!” #BSDetector
Twenty-five myths busted!
I wanted to make the twenty-fifth #BSdetector special, so the doc and I took up a myth that continues to live subliminally through messengers and messaging habits. These days, there is an entire motivation and inspiration-related subculture that seems to have formed around it. In this episode, the doc deals out a few harsh truths about the notion of ‘toxic positivity’ that you might want to pay close attention to…

Ep. 34: Eating way too much (or way too little) is a personal preference! #BSDetector
Eating disorders are a lot more common that people give them credit for but most people don’t realise that eating disorders are actually a form of mental disorders. In this #BSDetector episode, Dr. Bhooshan explains some of the basics and what to watch out for if you suspect someone to have an eating disorder.

Ep. 0: "Hello, World!"
Music: “Acoustic Breeze” from bensound.com
The Questions:
- What's your name, where are you from, and what do you do for a living?
- Describe the happiest moment in your life in real-time, i.e. describe your experience as it was happening to you in real time.
- What is the one thing that is guaranteed to make you instantly happy, no matter what is going on? Describe it if it is an object, perform it if it is an action, and do both if possible.
(HINT: Spend about a minute answering the first question and between two to five minutes each for the second and third questions.)
How to record:
First, go to the quietest room in your house. If you have a wooden cupboard, wardrobe, closet, or cabinet, that works too. Open the sound recording app on your phone and hit the 'Record button' - don't worry about the ambience of the room getting recorded, it will actually help me with noise cancellation. Hold the phone mic about 2-4 inches away from your mouth and record your answers to the three questions posted above.
About me:
I like to think of myself as a storyteller and I've told many a story - factual and fictional - over the course of my career in the radio industry. These days, I help other people tell *their* stories - sometimes as a voiceover artiste, sometimes as a teacher, sometimes as a consultant, and sometimes as a writer. If that description interests you and you'd like to avail of my services, my twitter handle is @shrikant and my DMs are open - slide in. :)
