TW: this episode is about death. In this episode of TeaTime, as we sip on our ice-cold lattes, we discuss death and its meaning in our various cultures. We find out interesting tidbits from Ellie, discuss history with Aya and appreciate the diversity of our different cultures and more generally, the world. Who Are You?
Welcome back to TeaTime! In today’s episode, we enjoy a refreshing glass of cold limeade while discussing some more existential questions... What version of yourself is your true self? Do you live for other people or yourself? We explored code-switching personalities in different situations, "seasonal personalities", and our friends' influence on our characters. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the first episode of TeaTime Season 2!!
A Letter to 2020
On today’s episode, we reflect on the past year while sipping some iced cold sweet tea...some with too much lemon. We talk about the most unexpected events of our year, COVID-19’s impact on school life, and how we’ve grown. Enjoy our last episode of Season 1 and get ready for many more! This year has been nothing short of crazy, and we hope you too can take some time to sit back and reflect.
Dear 2020,
Thank you, next!
Sincerely, the TeaTime girls.
Holiday Festivi-Tea
Merry belated Christmas and happy holidays to our TeaTime family. Once again we couldn’t decide what to drink, so enjoy our varied holiday beverages. On today’s episode, we talk about how celebrations have been impacted by COVID-19, our holiday plans, and the true meaning of traditions. Enjoy Ellie's short history lesson on the meaning being Boxing Day, Lumi’s festive tunes, and our holiday spirit.

Music: A Universal Language
Today on TeaTime, we hydrated ourselves by drinking water while chatting about the universal language of music. We talk about what music means to us, how music connects us, discovering our favorite genres of music, and Nigerian music/Afrobeat's influence in our lives. If you're searching for some new music( + some bad puns courtesy of Aya), keep an ear open for some of our song recommendations at the end!
Body Positivi-Tea
(Content Warning: body image, eating habits).
Today we drank vanilla milkshakes (spoiler alert: they were very disappointing) while discussing our personal journeys with body positivity. We share how our body image has impacted us, how our relationships with exercise and food have evolved over time, and what body positivity means to us as a whole. Everyone's experiences are different when it comes to this topic so we can only speak for ourselves, but we had fun discussing how we view our bodies. We hope you have fun listening!
...About Our Accents
Join us with today's tasting of Dalgona coffee, better known as TikTok coffee. What started out as a "get to know us" episode quickly turned into a 30 minutes discussion about our mixed accents and how they are a part of our identities. To all our international listeners out there or those who code-switch in different environments: we feel you and hope you relate :)
Complexities of Skincare
Our drink of choice for episode three was a DIY chai made with cardamom, cinnamon or both. We discussed our thoughts on an article published in The New Yorker by Brooke Jarvis, "Rethinking the Science of Skin," spilled the tea about our personal struggles with skincare, and shared some lessons from our individual journeys. If there's anything to take away from today's episode, it's that SPF is non-negotiable!
Chatting with Diversify Our Narrative
Today on Tea Time we skipped the tea to chat with our first guests! Diversify Our Narrative is a student-led initiative based in the US urging for the diversification of literature in English classrooms across all grade levels. They are petitioning school boards to include more works by BIPOC authors about BIPOC experiences to promote anti-racism in education. We got the opportunity to talk with a few of their representatives and learnt so much from them, we hope you can too!
What's the Meaning of Life?
Ellie, Aya, 'Lumi, and Lakshmi drink green tea in today's episode as they try to answer the question- What is the meaning of life? They debate about finding one's purpose, whether humans are good or bad, and much more. Enjoy :)
