Heyy, what's good? 

So we had taken a bit of an unplanned production break and now we are back to tackle the the events of the tech scene for the time we have not been here. From TikTok shaking up the social media scene with impactful collaborations to Samsung trying to make flip phones a thing again. In this episode we bring you into our thoughts about the recent developments in the tech space and how we feel about them. 

On a more personal note we talk about taking breaks and rest and just normalising prioritizing your health over the continuous productivity the world demands from us.

We invited Mabu Manaileng to help us navigate the topic of algorithmic bias. Mabu Manaileng is an AI Researcher and a Lead Data Scientist at one of the top three banks in South Africa. 

We go into what exactly algorithmic bias is and how it manifests in machine learning processes and ultimately how it affects the users of the resulting technologies and sometimes communities at large. 

We dive into how bias sometimes generates profit for companies and how that leads to ethics being abandoned in the machine learning process in the chase for profits.
