Trevor Edmonds is a multi-instrumentalist from Bay City Michigan who utilizes unique sound samplings, loops, and mixes these sonic elements to create his songs. Mickayel Thurin - Mixed Media Artist - BIG ENERGY Exhibition
Mickayel Thurin is a Haitian American artist born in 1987 in Newport News, VA. She grew up in NY, VA and MI, eventually landed in Philadelphia, PA to attend the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) where she studied painting. Thurin’s chief influences have consistently been expressive color, pattern and texture. The majority of her works tend to be colorful, expressive, abstracted portraiture done with mixed media. They often contain embroidery and collage.
Her current exhibition BIG ENERGY is on display at the Saginaw Art Museum through August 2023.

Jacob Wisenbach - Trumpeter / Midland Community Jazz Band
Jacob Wisenbach is a multi-instrumentalist with a primary focus on the trumpet. He is also the bandleader of the Midland Community Jazz Band, which will be playing at the Patricia A. Wolfgram Museum Tunes Concert Series on May 30 at the Saginaw Art Museum in our conversation today. Jacob describes his journey to becoming a trumpeter and the experience of being a band leader. James Stephen Terrell is a native Washingtonian who was reared in Ward 7. His parents are Rev. Dr. James E. Terrell, Pastor of historic Second Baptist Church of Washington D.C. and Retired Superior Court Associate Judge Mary A. Terrell of the Superior Court of Washington D.C.
He received his high school diploma from Gonzaga College High School in Washington D.C., his Bachelor of Fine Art in 1999 from Howard University,and Master of Fine Arts in 2002 from Parsons School of Design in New York City and the Master of Divinity Degree from the Union Theological Seminary in New York City with a concentration on Theology and the Fine Arts in 2006. While attending Union Theological Seminary, he pursued Fine Arts painting elective courses at Columbia University. Terrell has exhibited his work all over the country and had multiple solo shows including at Museums. His current exhibition Transcendence beyond the terrestrial Plane can be seen at the Saginaw Art Museum through April 16, 2023
TheaterWorks USA: The Magic School Bus-Lost in the Solar System / Katie Kallaus & Alyssa Naka Silver
The Temple Theatre will be hosting TheaterWorks USA's production of The Magic School Bus-Lost in the Solar System on February 15, 2023. The production tells the story of a class that gets lost on the way to the planetarium, Ms. Frizzle saves the day by blasting into outer space for an epic interplanetary field trip! In our podcast today we have guests Katie Kallaus who plays Ms. Frizzle and Alyssa Naka Silver who plays the part of Wanda in the production.

She was last seen on stage as Logainne in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Quisisana Resort. ALYSSA NAKA SILVER (Wanda) (She/they) is a NYU Tisch Drama graduate where she has studied at the Classical Studio, RADA, ETW, and Atlantic. They are a Japanese Jewish actress, singer, mover, and writer. Alyssa’s most recent credits are as Hua Mulan in Disenchanted! (Priscilla Beach Theatre), Exotic Bird/Princess in The Conference of the Birds (Winnipesaukee Playhouse), Julius Caesar as Julius Caesar (NYU Tisch Classical Studio), and the Little Mermaid as the Little Mermaid (Hangar Theatre). Travis Fader - Noel: Experience Christmas
Travis Fader is the Executive Director and founder of NOEL: Experience Christmas, a Broadway style Christmas program debuting at the historic Theatre on December 9, 2022. Fader holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Northwood University. His musical background includes writing and orchestrating Christmas music, at the notable Ocean Way Studios with the renowned orchestra, The Nashville String Machine. In addition to writing and arranging music, Fader is an accomplished pianist, directed a 100-plus voice choir, and co-created a production that drew over 5,000 in annual attendance for its five-year run.

Barry Andersen - Photographer
Barry Andersen has been making photographs of the land and sky for over thirty years. Working in both film and digital formats, his career and work have evolved through the use of available technologies. Andersen is Professor Emeritus at Northern Kentucky University where he received the Spirit of Light Award honoring his lifetime commitment to the students. Currently, Andersen's work is part of the Saginaw Art Museum's exhibition Field of Vision. In our discussion today, we discuss more about elements of photography that have changed and stayed the same during his experiences.

Robert von Sternberg is a distinguished career artist, photographer, university art educator, and philanthropist. He has served as a guest curator for 17 art exhibitions and is the founding director of The Museum Project working to promote the recognition of internationally known senior photographers by facilitating the addition of the photographers' works to museum collections. His work can be found in around the globe from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC to

Larry L. Preston - Author
After 40 years in law and finance, Larry Preston turned to writing in his retirement and recently released his first novel, Forged Fates. The novel centers around characters in the art forgery arena. As the story unfolds, the mystery deeps as characters connected with a murderer art conservator become increasingly entangled. In our conversation today we chat about the process of writing and publishing. A special author Meet and Greet will take place at the Saginaw Art Museum on November 17, 2022.

Andrea Modica - Photographer
Andrea Modica lives in Philadelphia and is a Professor of Photography at Drexel University. She received a BFA in Visual arts and Art History from State University of New York College at Purchased followed by an MFA at Yale University School of Art. Her photographs have been featured in many magazines, including the New York Times Magazine, the New Yorker, Newsweek and American Photo.
Modica has exhibited extensively and has had solo exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts.

Artist Bonnie Lalley was born and raised in Detroit before moving to northern Michigan. She is a graduate of Kendall School of Art and received her Master's of Fine Art from the University of Illinois. Lalley's work much like nature assembles vibrant color arrayed with bits of paper and detritus. Her exhibit The Circumference of a Garden is currently showing at the Saginaw Art Museum through November 18, 2022.

Zach Williams is a husband, father, recording artist, and songwriter, writing life-changing songs that come from a place of humility, honesty, and a direct reflection of God's redemption in his life.
With music reaching fans far and wide, in his career to date Williams has earned two GRAMMY® awards (Chain Breaker, 2018; "There Was Jesus," 2021), and along with an additional five GRAMMY nominations, Williams is a multi-GMA Dove Awards and K-LOVE Fan Awards winner and nominee.

Episode 49 - Kimmie Horne - Jazz Singer
A Detroit native, Kimmie Horne developed her own unique style of performing and singing. She was inspired by her great-aunt, the legendary songstress and movie icon Lena Horne and her uncle, Cleveland Horne, lead vocalist of Motown’s Fantastic Four. She is recognized internationally as a Jazz Singer, weaving blends of pop and rhythm and Blues, as well as classic jazz with her rich, alto voice and sultry performances. In 2017 Horne received the National Honor as Lady of Jazz by Black Women in Jazz and Arts Award. Most recently, she founded the Kimmie Horne Jazz Festival identified by the National Civic League with the All American City Award in 2021.
Horne will be opening for Kenny G on September 9, 2022 at the historic Temple Theatre in Downtown Saginaw Michigan

Phabies is a Grand Rapids based alternative rock/pop group that has been described as oozing “DIY spirit with eclectic musical vibe” by Local Spins. With five albums to their name including the recently released Fire Seed, members continue to work on connecting with audiences and building a spirit of comradery where ever they play. Phabies consists of members Laura Hobson who leads song writing for the group, Garret Stier on guitar and bass, Joshua Holicki on drums, Max McKinnon on synth, and Kevin Burrows.

The Stapletons are a husband and wife, harp and guitar duo. Together, they write baroque folk rich with hints of Appalachian balladry, Delta blues, and echoes of the English folk revival movement. Episode 43 - Saginaw Choral Society - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
The Saginaw Choral Society originated in 1930 and consists of volunteer singers from all walks of life representing the Great Lakes Bay Region. Through the group's history they engaged in collaborations with others that include Boys Choir of Harlem, Dave Brubeck, and Judy Collins.
The choir will perform the music of Andrew Loyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat at the Temple Theatre in cooperation with the the Saginaw Youth Choir this week.
We have three guests involved in the production on the podcast today. Adam Prime will sing the part of Joseph, Saginaw Choral Society board member and accompanist Kevin Cole, and Ric Roberts who is directing the show.

Episode 40 - Dog Man: The Musical - Brandon James Butorovich & Savannah Fisher
We have two guests on today's podcast. Brandon James Butorovich and Savannah Fisher star in TheatreWorks USA Production of Dog Man: The Musical which will be performed at The Temple Theatre on March 13.
Butorovich has played roles Off BroadWay in A Christmas Carol and Alice in Wonderland. He has also toured with Missoula Children's Theatre and The National Theatre for Children.
Fisher who will be playing the role of Flippy in the upcoming performance is from Detroit Michigan. She graduated with a musical theatre performance degree from Western Michigan University and entertained audiences as Deloris in Sister act, Glinda in The Wiz, and Gilmer in God Spell. She is a classically trained Jazz singer and soloed at the International Jazz Festival.

Episode 38 - Lark Allen III - From Africa to Eternity
Lark Allen III is a graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art, where he received an M.F.A. (2014) in Print Media. . Allen is non discriminatory when working with materials, and actively engages in various forms of drawing, sculpture, painting, and printmaking. As a current Saginaw Michigan resident, he is an active proponent of health and well-being within communities, and attempts to reveal this advocacy through his artwork.

Episode 37 - Fouad Fakhouri - Conductor and Composer
Today we have the honor of hearing from conductor and composer Fouad Fakhouri
Lauded for his “musical accuracy” and “emotional intensity,” he has earned a reputation for his dynamic artistry behind the podium. Fakhouri goes beyond the score to capture both the essence and spirit of the music, delivering powerful interpretations and inspired symphonic performances.
On Saturday January 29, Maestro Fakhouri will present the world premiere of KRUPA with the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra at the historic Temple Theatre in Downtown Saginaw. This piece will be followed by concertmaster Eliot Heaton as the soloist in the brilliant Violin Concerto by 20th-century Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian. The evening concludes with César Franck’s Symphony in D minor. Franck wrote his only symphony towards the end of his life only because his students persuaded him. This Romantic work is by turns brooding, beatific, explosive, and finally triumphant.

Episode 33 - Cara De Angelis - Painter
Cara De Angelis was born and raised in the wilds of New England. She has been a recipient of the CT Office of the Arts Fellowship Grant, as well as the Barbara Deming/Money for Women Grant. She has had fellowships at the Vermont Studio Center, the Prairie Center of the Arts in Illinois, and the Contemporary Arts Center in Troy, New York. In 2010 she was awarded full residency at the Terra Foundation in Giverny, France, along with a Guggenheim travel grant. She is also a beneficiary of the Rudolph Zallinger Painting Award.

Episode 31 - Cellist Jordan Hamilton
Cellist and vocalist Jordan Hamilton merges musical styles to tell stories of the human experience through a variety of musical genres. A member of Last Gasp Collective and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Jordan can be found performing primarily in the Midwest where he has opened for national acts such as Eric Roberson and Nappy Roots. His most recent release "Vibrations" is a compilation of feelings expressed in sound with no words.

Episode 30 - Poet Diane Seuss & Artist John McKaig
Today we host a conversation with poet Diane Seuss and artist John McKaig in association with the Saginaw Art Museum’s current exhibition The Art of Poetry: Visually Reimagining the poem. Through a unique collaboration which we will learn about in the discussion, Seuss and McKaig connect here for a conversation about the process of creation among other topics.
Diane Seuss was born in Indiana and raised in Michigan. She earned a BA from Kalamazoo College and an MSW from Western Michigan University. Seuss is the author of multiple poetry collections including Four-Legged Girl (2015) which made her a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Her most recent collection frank: Sonnets is available through Gray Wolf Press. Her work has appeared in multiple poetry publications including The Best American Poetry 2014. John McKaig received his BFA in printmaking from Miami University and MFA in printmaking from University of Syracuse. He is currently Adjunct professor of drawing at Lycoming College in Williamsport PA. Episode 25 - Matthew Owen Wead
Matthew Owen Wead is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores social hierarchy through verbal and written language. He received a BFA from Morehouse College (2006) and an MFA from University of Maryland (2009) with a focus on printmaking, sculpture and photography. His work often uses multiple-mediums and is constructed to be a fully immersive experience. This practice of creating functional objects reinforces that they are not to be seen as fictional objects but as real world tools that can be used in society.

Davis, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, is a former sergeant of the United States Air Force, a retired carrier with the United States Postal Service, and an ordained deacon. He began collecting in the mid-1980s in partnership with his wife, Betty, who shared his passion for art. In our conversation today, we explore how Davis began collecting and his hopes for the future of his collection.

Our guest today is Curlee Raven Holton. A highly regarded professor, painter and master printmaker, Curlee Raven Holton has exhibited his work throughout the world. His paintings, drawings, and prints are held by major museums and collections in the U.S. and abroad. Among his many accomplishments are his receipt of the Anyone Can Fly Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award and an Honorary Doctorate in Art and Philosophy from the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts at the 2018 Commencement in New York City.
In our discussion today, you will hear more about the print process, Holton’s work with Faith Ringgold, and wisdom for artists.

Danielle Cecil - On Thin Ice
Danielle Cecil, a recent BFA graduate of Saginaw Valley State University, uses a large format film camera to capture images related to childhood traumas.
