THE ARK: Diving Deeper

By THE ARK

We are 'THE ARK' and we are a group of students at Sha Tin College committed to raising awareness about the global issue of climate change in the local context of Hong Kong. After learning more about the work of environmental NGOs in Hong Kong, we decided to create an informative podcast series where we interview local NGOs about their work and how our listeners can help them.

THE ARK x Hong Kong Shark Foundation

In this episode of 'THE ARK: Diving Deeper', we are joined by the Executive Director of Hong Kong Shark Foundation Andrea Richey as we discuss the importance of sharks, the causes of shark endangerment and the effects of shark species extinction. 100 million sharks are captured and killed each year to produce shark products and this has pushed 33% of shark species to near extinction. Recognising that over 50% of the world's shark fins are traded in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Shark Foundation (HKSF) is an HK-based NGO that aims to raise awareness about the issue of shark endangerment and shark finning in Hong Kong.
