Jian Lee talks with Jo McConnell from GOMO Foundation
The People Collective has been formed to support organisations to turn their aspirations into a reality, through and with their people. They take a practical, proven and real world approach to reinventing workplaces. They are experts in people, culture, organisational strategy and design, large scale change and business transactions. The projects can be big or small; their focus is on care for people, simplifying complexity and identifying the key actions required to survive and thrive.
As CEO and Director at the Gomo Foundation, Jo leads a team which is committed to supporting girls in Africa to realise their potential. They do this by providing high school education to girls in Zimbabwe. They are at an exciting stage of growth.
A little while ago as part of ADAPTOVATE's commitment to Pledge 1 Percent, we worked with Jo and GOMO Foundation to set up a virtual agile PMO (Project Management Office) and align the leadership team on priorities for the Foundation. Gomo Foundation provides education opportunities for young women in Africa with potential, so they can drive change in their developing communities.
They are proud to be working towards welcoming 50 young women into education by 2020. One of the challenges they face as a not for profit staffed entirely by volunteers is managing their program virtually so everyone is aligned and is working with the same up to date information. Setting up a virtual agile PMO will help keep the team of volunteers aligned and focussed.
