The Intersection

Probably my hardest episode to make, I personally have a lot of personal issues dealing with my blackness and it stops me from fully trying to be open and vulnerable with myself and people. But luckily in this episode I have a really cool conversation with a close friend about being black.

Having conversations and learning is always the goal when joining in on The Intersection, but it doesn't do much if we aren't going to allow ourselves to be uncomfortable and vulnerable in spaces like this. I'm trying to open up and show my faults because we all mess up and do stupid things. BUT we should always aim at growing and improving as people.

This is basically a pilot episode, yeah I know, we already had a pilot episode. But this one is addressing the issues we had when we started and trying to create a fresh start to the new way, we plan to go about The Intersection from now on. In this episode, we talk about understanding your sexuality and belonging to a community that should have your best interests in mind. As much as we should be able to relate to people who are like us when it comes to being queer, not everyone under the LGBTQIA+ rainbow is the same and this can cause friction between different groups represented by the same movement. The primary focus of this episode is about having to navigate your personal commits and responsibilities while being able to actualise your sexuality.

This episode primarily deals with family and how your Identity can mold family relationships and structures. We discuss family dynamics and how interpersonal family relationships can be shaped by cultural expression resulting in conflict as well as the expectations that family can have on you and how dealing with them can take time but should be invested.

Friendships are the focal point of this episode, where we talk about healthy friendships, toxic friends and confusing friendship. We deal with what to do to make a friendship work and how you recognise a "good" friend through actions and the respect that they are willing to show you and the way you treat them in return.
Being able to be a good friend allows for you to be accessible to people who you should want to keep around and add value to your life to let you grow into the kind of person you want to be.

This is the first Episode of the Intersection Podcast, where I dive into my identity and try to illustrate what intersectionality is. I talk about my experiences around discovering who I am and how my identity has been able to inform who I am.

This podcast tries to encourage every listener to open about their identities and to help others better understand them. But ultimately making each of us understand ourselves
