#6 - The Interview - Wealth Taxation with SocialismDoneLeft
Welcome back to The Interview! This week I’m talking to SocialismDoneLeft. He’s a prominent YouTuber that talks about socialism and progressivism. We’re talking wealth taxes. Specifically what they are, what’s the best collection mechanism for them, and their efficiency. How do we make sense of them?
Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders were pushing for wealth taxation in the 2020 Democratic primaries, Thomas Piketty, author of Capital in the 21st Century, pushed for a wealth tax as a mechanism of action against the growing inequality we see in the world. Wealth taxes have been implemented with varying success across European countries. We discuss all of these on this episode. Thanks for listening!

#5 - The Interview - The Death of A Welfare State with David Sligar
David Sligar discusses the most means tested welfare regime in the world - Australia.
At its best points in the 20th century, Australia seemed to contradict Esping-Andersen's 3 Worlds typology, embodying the means testing associated with liberalism but with a reasonable amount of egalitarian redistribution and a conception of welfare as a social right.
David focuses on the two largest payments - age pension and child benefits, on which Australia's commitment to means testing wavered in the mid 20th century only to come back with a vengeance along with a more privatized and conditional model of social provisions.
