By her sophomore year in high school, Diana Chao had already decided that she needed to take a gap year after graduating in order to focus on her mental health. After getting into Princeton University, she deferred for a year and took time off to work at NASA & Adobe while building her non-profit, Letters to Strangers and managing her family business. After overworking herself for several 100-hour weeks, Diana realized that her chaotic schedule was only worsening her mental and physical health and decided to travel to Rome in order to take some time off and slow down. Through her experiences traveling, she was able to gain a new perspective on life and return to the US with a more mindful approach to life.

So she put in her two weeks notice, sold all her belongings, and set about a 4 month journey through Central America to learn more about herself and the world of nutrition, and naturopathic medicine. When she returned to the US, she decided to pursue a doctorate degree and start her own practice.

When a faith leader reached out and asked if any Muslims would like to visit a Christian Church and answer questions they had on the Muslim Faith, Freeni Raza knew she had to say yes, simply because no one else was doing it. She walked into the church in the Deep South of Texas, where they have open carry laws, with her two kids and broke the ice by letting people know they could ask any questions they want and she would not get offended. This was the start of Freeni's journey in opening up and publicly speaking about her faith in an attempt to bridge communities. She has since hosted her own radio show and started her own podcast, Musings of Modern Muslims, to talk more in depth about taboo topics.

Rocket scientist by day, and musician by night, jly (also known as Jaclyn Yangyuen) decided to quit her 9-5 job in engineering and move halfway across the country to work on her music. In this episode, Jaclyn shares how heartbreak led her to take this remarkable leap and move in with her brother and his fiancée in Ohio and drive several hours each way to attend weekly songwriting sessions in Nashville, Tennessee. Within a year, she released an EP, did a celebration tour, joined an a capella group, and moved back to Los Angeles to continue her songwriting journey while working full-time in engineering.
