About Robert Thor
Born into a loving family in the heart of the Bronx, New York, then moving to the Gulf Coast of Florida, Robert led a happy and nearly charmed life. His deeply religious upbringing gave him the strength to weather any storm, including some frightening brushes with death.
Robert’’s new book NJustice chronicles his idyllic family life and nearly rags to riches story, all of which came tumbling down when he unwittingly became embroiled with NSync and Backstreet Boys creator Lou Pearlman, developer of one of the largest Ponzi schemes in history. Enduring deception, pain and loss, Robert persevered through love and forgiveness. For the last decade, this elder care professional has been helping the less fortunate in places like Cuba and Nicaragua.
Robert has this to say to the listeners of this podcast show:
“You’ve got to have faith in life because life sometimes serves us some pretty serious curve balls — and only that faith can get you through.”
“Whether it’s life threatening physical issues or catastrophic business and reputation events, the willingness to persevere will always help bring you through.”
“Love is not what you say, it’s what you do.”
“If you don’t forgive, that lack of forgiveness will ultimately destroy your heart.”
“When the lights go out, we learn that wealth and celebrity aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.”
“When dealing with the justice system, be careful who you trust.”

Molly Larkin: Achieving emotional, spiritual and physical balance | Podcast Interview

Molly Larkin is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show podcast. Molly talks about how she helps people achieve emotional, spiritual and physical balance. She also shares how her passion for health and healing led her to become a certified spiritual healing practitioner and licensed tutor for NFSH-The Healing Trust, England’s oldest and largest spiritual healing organisation. If you enjoy listening to this podcast, please consider supporting it

About Molly Larkin
Molly Larkin has been a life-long spiritual seeker and has studied with indigenous elders from
around the world for over 30 years. She is the co-author of The Wind Is My Mother, the Life and
Teachings of A Native American Shaman and the author of The Fountain of Youth Is Just A
Breath Away; Breathing Exercises for Relaxation, Health and Vitality.
Her passion for health and healing led her to become a certified spiritual healing practitioner
and licensed tutor for NFSH-The Healing Trust, England’s oldest and largest spiritual healing
organization. In her private healing practice, Molly works with people, pets and horses, both in
person and long distance, helping them achieve emotional, spiritual and physical balance.

What native American traditions do you recommend we incorporate into our society?
1 Ceremony for Soldiers coming home from war; they’ve seen death and need to be cleansed of that negative energy.
2 Respect for elders; they have so much to teach us on the wisdom learned from a full life. All our elders should be honored and well-taken care of. Not left alone in nursing facilities.
3 Teaching children not to make fun of those who are different. Bullying would never be tolerated in an indigenous society.
4 The chief was always the poorest man in the tribe, because he gave away what he had to ensure all his people had what they needed. So not giving so many special privileges to our leaders would be a good place to start. We could solve a lot problems here in the United States if Congress had to use the same medical plan and retirement funding that the rest of our citizens do. Then we’d get something that worked!
5 Gratitude: Practice gratitude every day and more blessings come. While the poorest ethnic group in every nation, indigenous people are the most generous. They understand that giving is the secret to a good life. They even have a saying, “it’s hard for us to say ‘thank you’ without something in our hand.”

About Stephanie Tumba
I was born and raised in Paris, France by Congolese parents.
When I was seven, I was stealing my mother’s Dutch Wax Block fabrics making clothes for dolls and selling them to my friends. I was also teaching dancing moves at 9 during our school breaks. Early on in my life, I demonstrated an entrepreneurial mindset emphasised by my managerial behaviour being the big sister of 5 other brothers and sisters.
Always being full of energy, my parents always kept me busy, and I was trained in Classical dance, gymnastics, ballet, modern & street jazz dances and triathlon where I won a few regional medals on the way. But, since I have been a kid, I always had an overflowing Imagination with a slight tendency to hyperactivity. So, I have always read and written songs, poems, or stories sometimes short, sometimes long, sometimes comical, occasionally sarcastic and sometimes dark & suicidal, depending on my mood, the music I have in mind, or the people I meet. Today, business lady by day and writer by night, I am thrilled to announce the second edition of my first novel called 100 Dates and a Wedding and the release of the French version June 22.

Marc O’Brien: How to use children books to build trust with a child | Podcast Interview

Marc O’Brien is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show podcast. Marc shares how he hopes his latest children’s book Peter the Peteeatrick Panda would help parents and nurses build trust with a child when they are about to get vaccinated. As vaccinations are a hot topic in the mainstream media, it is important to Marc that children feel relaxed during this time when things may hurt. I assure you, you need to click play now to listen to this most intriguing conversation with Marc O’Brien.

About Marc O’Brien
It has been over ten years since Las Vegas resident Marc O’Brien was sitting writing his retired nursing executives Mother’s newsletter that went out to her professional peers and he came up with the idea of Peter the Peteeatrick Panda.
After testing the idea out the pair decided to put the character into a self-published children’s book and down the street from Cape Canaveral at Blue Note Publishing the peteeatrick panda found life in literature.
“It has been a wonderful addition to my professional portfolio of work,” said the author of “Peter The Peteeatrick Panda’s Playground” who has gone on other self and create space publishing efforts along with a work “The Final Fence: Sophomores In The Saddle” being distributed internationally by Austin Macauley, UK, “self-publishing was the perfect format for the idea, the product was professional as was
the illustrations done by Catherine Wicks.”
In the text Peter finds himself in over his head and after falling needs to go to the hospital in a panda mobile. Then later he is adopted by the nurses and they give him a volunteer job as a pandy striper.
“Reading to a child builds a trust worthy atmosphere,” Author Marc O’Brien said, “It was my goal to create an atmosphere that allowed nurses to calm a child so they could do their job.”
After the creation of this character the Barry University Communication graduate has done library and school readings in Florida as well as New Jersey. Added to that Peter has visited Patrick Air Force Base Christmas parties for children whose parents were being deployed.
“Starting dialogue of health care in these situations prepare a child just in case they have to go to the hospital,” said the author.
With the vaccination issue out in the mainstream media Peter the Peteeatrick Panda feels like he is prepared and wants to be visible to make sure that children feel relaxed during this time when things may hurt, and trust is needed.
“When there are needles, Peter needs to be there in spirit,” said Author Marc O’Brien, “he is there to break tension and give the child a secure feeling.”
Other works published by Marc O’Brien include “Peter the Peteeatrick Panda and the Pandy Chip Pancakes, A Special Person to Ride, The Legend of The Pixie Piper and Midnight Christmas Miracle.”

Loretta Breuning: Meet Your Happy Chemicals: Dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin and endorphin | Podcast Interview

Loretta Breuning is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show podcast. Loretta shares with us how she went from being a Professor of Management to studying brain chemistry and creating resources that help people build power over their mammalian brain chemistry.. About Loretta Breuning
Dr. Loretta Breuning is Founder of the Inner Mammal Institute and author of Habits of a Happy Brain: Retrain your brain to boost your serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin and endorphin. As Professor of Management at California State University, and as a parent, Loretta lost faith in prevailing theories of human motivation. Then she studied the brain chemistry we’ve inherited from earlier mammals, and everything made sense. So she founded the Inner Mammal Institute and began creating resources that help people build power over their mammalian brain chemistry.

5 things to take away from this episode
Loretta Breuning would like the listeners of this episode of The Segilola Salami Show to take away the following:
1) The brain chemicals that make you feel good (dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, endorphin) are inherited from earlier mammals.
2) They’re designed to promote survival, not to make you feel good. They turn on when you see a way to meet a survival need. Then they turn off and you have to do more to get more.
3) Your happy chemicals are controlled by neural pathways built from past experience, which is why we all expect to feel good in ways that worked for us in youth.
4) Nothing is wrong with you. Your happy chemicals are not designed to flow all the time for no reason.
5) Fortunately, you can build new neural pathways to turn on your happy chemicals in new ways. Take small steps toward new rewards and repeat. You will blaze a new trail though your jungle of neurons.

Brett Leboff: Staying Sane In The Music Game

Brett Leboff: Staying Sane In The Music Game

Brett Leboff  is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show podcast. Brett shares with us his crippling mental health issues that started when he was a child, to taking up drumming and how to keep on top of your mental health and stay in control of our heads when the pressure is on! I assure you, you need to click play now to listen to this most intriguing conversation with Brett Leboff.
The opening tune on this podcast was sponsored by singer song writer Angela Predhomme and it is from her single HIDDEN WINGS. You can listen to the full track on
her website, on Apple Music or on Spotify.

About Brett Leboff
Brett Leboff has spent 20 years (and counting) in the music business, firstly as an artist,
drumming in bands and as a manager.
Never being one to tread the obvious path, he walked away from his own management
company and his biggest signed artist (who was touring the world), and went on an
adventure which culminated in raising money to buy sound equipment in order to start a
music event on a coexistence project in the West Bank, with Israelis and Palestinians; an
incredible experience.
Once back in the UK he was invited by Diplomats of Sound, a well-known music booking
agency to create an artist development arm with an eye on an ethical and progressive
approach. As well as this adventure he embarked on a campaign of self-development, firstly
adopting 1.5 years of regular psychotherapy, then engaging with the Mankind Project,
Vipassana (10 day silent meditation retreat), iEvolve, Tantra and Sexual Deconditioning
workshops.
Quote from Brett about the book he wrote – “The purpose of life is to learn, grow and face
challenges, and I started viewing my life and career from an aerial viewpoint, making course
corrections and some hard life choices that perhaps I had been avoiding. It gave me a fresh
perspective on everything I had seen before in my career with artists and prior to that,
being an artist myself, which led me to write this; a book about staying sane in the music
game. In an industry that has to keep reinventing itself it’s important to keep supporting
artists and this manual shares the stories, rituals and tools I’ve used over the years.”
Brett himself has suffered from crippling mental health issues in his formative years
particularly when drumming but also as a manager. He has learned to overcome these on
his journey and he will allude to them in the talk. The focus of the talk will be overcoming
the challenges of working full time in the music industry, how to keep on top of mental
health and stay in control of our heads when the pressure is on!

About Michael J Black
Aspiring to share his passion for life through writing, Michael Black reveals
intimate details of his lifelong journey through the pages of his new tell-all book,
“Happy Endings and a New Beginning.” out now. Michael was born in Southern
California and grew up with a lot of family around him. At eight years of age,
his family moved to Northern California to a small town a couple of hours from
the Oregon border. He lived there with his mother, brother and new step-dad in
a small town with small town values.
Unfortunately those small town values did not attach themselves to every person
that Michael encountered. As such, Michael now speaks openly of the many
years he endured sexual abuse by several different pedophiles, along with his
sexual orientation and the struggles that illuminated because of his choices. He
struggled to live two separate lives as he had been raised in a home and church
where homosexuality was looked down upon but still tried to live his own truth.
In order to cope with the mass confusion festering in his young mind, Michael
casually began using street drugs, which led him to a fourteen year affair with
those same drugs and more. It darkened his life path. At age 33, Michael’s
high-life partying came to an abrupt end, leaving him hospitalized and sober. He
began looking to his Higher Power to sort out his life that was in a state of
ruin. Now, years later, His light shines as Michael shares his personal journey
of mayhem over the years, how he met and fell in love with his wife and gives
each one of us hope for a better tomorrow.
“My hope and prayer for this book is by highlighting my own choices, others might become a little cognizant of their own…..choices that is. I encourage others to think before acting. I am a work in progress” – Michael J Black

Andrew Schatkin: Being Open To Other Views

Andrew Schatkin: Being Open To Other Views

Andrew Schatkin is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show. Andrew shares with us his views on religion and the world and shares why he believes in being open to views that are different to yours. I assure you, you need to click play now to listen to this most intriguing conversation with Andrew Schatkin on being open.
If you enjoy listening to this podcast, please consider supporting it

About Andrew Schatkin

Andrew Schatkin has a JD, law degree, two internmational law certificates from Holland and France and a theology degree from Princeton Theological
Seminary in Biblical languages, Greek, Latin and Hebrew
He is the author of 5 books, 5 book chapters, and 4 more books are in the process. The books are both legal and christian in character.
Andrew Schatkin is presently a business and educational consultant, a teacher, writer, and speaker. He presently is the host of two radio shows with an international outreach. He has been a guest on many radio and tv shows. If you want to know more about Andrew Schatkin please feel free to consult his website schatkinshow.com where you can see his books, blogs, and podcasts.
Here is an excerpt from one of Andrew’s books, taken from the book Essays on the Christian Worldview chapter 2 entitled” Why I am Against Abortion” p 4″ The right of a woman to so called reproductive freedom now established as the law of the land has become the calling card of the modern woman. No longer, the feminist says are women to be enslaved to the accidents of biology and the mastery of macho men. With this right to so called reproductive freedom comes, if it did not come before, the right to sexual freedom. The double standard lis gone; free and unfettered sexuality is the here and now, since women no longer fear the burden and pain of childbirth and children as a result of the sexual act.
Comment by Segilola Salami: I am a woman and I am a firm believer that it is every woman’s right to decide what happens to her body. Choosing to have an abortion is not something I believe the average woman would do without first thinking it through. I cannot imagine that every woman who chooses to have an abortion did so simply because she could. A myriad of reasons have been known to affect a woman’s choice to keep or not keep a pregnancy and not because she had “free and unfettered sexuality”

About Nikole Stanfield
Since 2014 Nikole has owned her own business and worked to improve herself through personal development. After experiencing burnout last summer she now helps successful business owners and entrepreneurs who feel unfulfilled and struggle to get out of bed in the morning to work through burnout so that they can love what they do. You can learn more about her at www.MyIntuitionCoach.com.
After listening to this episode, this is what Nikole Stanfield wants the listener to take away:
1 – Burnout can happen to anyone,
2 – Being in burnout looks like having low energy,
3 – Being in burnout feel like your work doesn’t have meaning,
4 – Being in burnout feels like having low confidence
5 – You can get out of burnout with 3 steps: creating simple habits, finding balance between your personal and professional life, and prioritizing yourself
The listener will learn that they don’t have to be in burnout and feel unfulfilled, and struggle to survive their work week. Instead, they can beat burnout by learning to love what they do.
Book recommendation
The book that Nikole mentioned on this episode of The Segilola Salami Show podcast is: The Joy of Burnout: How the End of the World Can Be a New Beginning by Dr. Dina Glouberman
This is what she had to say about the book:
“I would recommend The Joy of Burnout to listeners of The Segilola Salami Show because it takes the concept of burnout, which many people fear, and shows how it can actually be beneficial and help someone truly find themselves after their burnout. It doesn’t promote burnout but it shows how you can support yourself and see yourself in a different light if you are burning out or have burned out. It changed my perception of my own burnout so that I saw how burnout helped me live a more authentic life.” – Nikole Stanfield
You can
purchase a copy of The Joy of Burnout on Amazon

Giveaway by Nikole Stanfield

About BabyMountain FlowerBear
I was born in 1972 and spent most my young life with a fractured identity, and living in an abusive dysfunctional household. I got in a lot of trouble, and almost committed suicide. I have been given second and third chances in this life and I think I’ve been given these chances to share my story, and to help people who are living in despair. I have battled depression my whole life. I’ve been in jail, rehab, and the U.S. Navy. I’m now a professional development expert with a U.S. state agency. I have been married to my incredibly patient wife for nearly seven years. I have two stepdaughters, four dogs and five cats. My life at the moment is quite good, but I still battle daily depression – I’ll never give up this battle.

Ahmed Rashed: What Would A Muslim Say

Ahmed Rashed: What Would A Muslim Say

Ahmed Rashed is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show. Ahmed shares with us his journey immediately post 9/11 to becoming a public speaker and advocate for Muslims. I assure you, you need to click play now to listen to this most intriguing conversation with Ahmed Rashed.
If you enjoy listening to this podcast, please consider supporting it

About Ahmed Rashed
Ahmed Lotfy Rashed was born in Egypt and raised in Maryland. During his three years of graduate study, he served as Public Relations Officer for the Muslim Students’ Association. It was at this time that Ahmed started talking about Islam at various churches, temples, and schools. He became known for his informal and approachable demeanour. His ability to break down complex religious and historical contexts for audiences earned him high reviews. Since coming to Boston in 2004, he has been an active volunteer at several mosques in the Greater Boston Area. He has been the head instructor for the local Islam101 class since 2006. Also, he has been a volunteer for WhyIslam.org since 2009. He has presented Islam at schools and churches, and he has hosted visits to several major mosques in the area. He is currently pursuing a degree in Islamic Studies from Mishkah University, with a Master’s thesis on Interfaith Social Activism.
After listening to this episode, this is what Ahmed wants the listener to take away:

* One of God’s gifts to humanity is the gift of speech. It is through dialogue that we can come to greater understanding and peaceful relations.
* It is a dark time we live in, but we are trying to push back against the ignorance and fear and hatred with patience and authentic information and knowledge.
* Many times we are blindsided by our negative emotions: fear, disappointment, anger, resentment, etc. We become intolerant of the shortcomings we see in others, but we don’t look closely at ourselves.
* Humans make mistakes, often even critical and chronic ones, but the final arbiter is God … not people.
* I have to constantly remind myself that “only God knows best.” When a person begins to assume that they are free from their ego or self-interest, then that is the beginning of their descent into evil.

DeWandus Johnson Sr: Marketing Strategies For First Time Authors + $50 Giftcard Giveaway

DeWandus Johnson Sr: Marketing Strategies For First Time Authors + $50 Giftcard Giveaway

DeWandus Johnson Sr. is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show. DeWandus shares with us his journey from leaving prison, working as an electrician apprentice to the things he’s learned marketing his first book “Cry Baby Cry…. Or Not.” This helps him share marketing strategies any author, but most especially first-time authors, can apply. I assure you, you need to click play now to listen to this most intriguing conversation with DeWandus Johnson Sr.
If you enjoy listening to this podcast, please consider supporting it

About DeWandus Johnson Sr.
DeWandus Johnson Sr. was born and raised on the West Side of Chicago, in the North Lawndale Community. Involved in the street life at an early age, his first visit to prison was at the formative age of seventeen-years-old. In his adult years, Dewandus decided to leave Chicago. It was time for fresh start and a slower pace, so he relocated to Omaha, Nebraska. Unable to shake his “get it by any means necessary” attitude, he found himself in prison again. While in federal prison, he was introduced to legends of the Chicago lifestyle, and gained knowledge on other ways to live successfully. One particular friendship awakened a new understanding of life for DeWandus, and a new goal was born. His goal is to give unfiltered mental visuals and testimonies about the untold truths of the ghettos of America. As of today, DeWandus has written several books and has plans of writing more in the future. DeWandus’ writing style can be described as live, vivid, and raw.
Please enjoy the first novel published under Royal Roar Publishing LLC and keep your eyes open for the next release, ” All Cried Out!”

At the end of today’s episode of The Segilola Salami Show, DeWandus wants listeners to take this away:

1. I want the listeners to know that Royal Roar publishing is more than a publishing company. We partner with Haccllc.org to help at-risk youths cope with the struggles of inner-city problems.
2. I want them to also know that it’s not your fault when you don’t know but once you are aware your accountability is a must.
3. The listeners should know that I was once a product of the gang, drug and poverty-stricken streets of Chicago.
4. They should know that I attend State Prisons every Wednesday and Saturday speaking to adult men that want to change their lives when they are released from prison about what to look for when they are re-entered into society.
5. Last but not least, I want them to know that time stands still for no one, the only one that is stopping your progress is you. Things will never change for you if you don’t take the first step toward change.

KEY POINTS:

* Your daily habits dictate the circumstances of your life.
* Wealth and Poverty are just two different processes – which process you follow, and to what extent, will dictate if you are rich, poor or stuck in the middle-class.
* There are essentially 3 ways to become rich (#1 Saver/Investor, #2 Virtuoso or #3 Dreamer-Entrepreneur).
* No one succeeds on their own – we all need apostles to our cause.
* Relationships are the currency of the wealthy.
* Bonus – Finding a Success Mentor is one of the two ways to fast track success and wealth. The other is pursuing a dream (Entrepreneurship).

About Robert Flynn
Robert E Flynn III is a software developer, musician, living with his beautiful wife Claudia, in San Antonio, Texas. He has two wonderful children, Caitlin and Zachary, who are grown and exploring their own fantastic lives. He has spent his entire life pursuing creative endeavours. Music was his first love and still is, and writing was always part of his life, but one college professor instilled the positive input that pushed him to create his first novel. While writing endless essays and research papers, this professor wrote something truly inspiring on every one of those works one semester. He simply wrote, “This was a pleasure to read!” This simple message inspired deeply. This is his first novel, but the story has been developing in his mind for two years. The book has a supernatural theme, but it is also a story of the condition of humanity.
Robert also lived in Austin, Texas for many years and was part of the music scene in the city during that time. He was a member of several bands during those days and tremendously enjoyed playing live in many venues in the music rich area. He also lived in Denver, Colorado for several years when his children were young and then relocated back to San Antonio, Texas to be close to family.

About Zhana
Zhana is the author of many books and ebooks, including Secrets of Manifestation, Book Marketing Genius and Write Your Book in Two Days. She has recently launched her new Violet Flame Healing audio series.
Zhana’s books can be found on her website by clicking here.
Here’s Zhana’s message to the listeners of this episode:
Who – When you become a self-publisher, the “Who” is you! You are responsible for everything. You are responsible for the editing, marketing, all aspects of publishing. The “Who” can also be an editor. If you are not confident and highly skilled in the areas such as spelling, grammar and punctuation, you need to hire an editor who can make sure your book looks professional. And, of course, the “Who” are your readers and your street team. More about building your street team below.
What – The “what” is your material. I write books about self-help, mind/body/spirit, achieving your goals, etc. If you write nonfiction, you need to focus on what material will help your readers. What will help them to achieve their goals?
Where – Self-publishing is everywhere now. There are so many online platforms. Lulu.com is a platform where you can self-publish for free and Amazon has its own platform, CreateSpace, as well as Kindle Direct Publications (KDP). There are also other platforms where you pay for services such as distribution to libraries and promoting your work to radio stations. So you need to decide what your priorities are.
How – There is a lot of information on how to market your book in my free ebook Book Marketing Genius. Book Marketing Genius focuses on how to build your street team. Your street team is a group of people who know and love your work. They are both a focus group, while you are writing your book, and a fan club who can help you to promote your work. They can write reviews for you, they provide a great source of feedback and help you reach your readers. Book Marketing Genius also contains interviews with two book marketing geniuses, John Kremer, author of 1,001 Ways to Market your Book, and Alinka, author of How I Sold 80,000 Books. They reveal some of their book marketing secrets and strategies. As a self-publisher, you can utilise online platforms, and you also have the choice to publish your book yourself, for real. This is REAL self-publishing. Type up a Word document and, when it’s ready, upload it to a free platform such as Amazon KDP or Lulu.com. This is real self-publishing. Once your work is online, you need to market it. You can use content marketing, for example, blogging to promote your work. Or you can pay a publicist. If you are marketing online, you can, for example, hire people on Fiverr.com to help you attract traffic to your book and your blog.
When Timing can be important. For example, if you are writing about the May or August Bank Holidays, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kwanzaa – any public holiday – this is a good time to release your book. If you are writing about how to pass your exams, release your book at a time when students are preparing for exams. Use any type of tie-in that is relevant to your book. Because I write books about self-help, mind/body/spirit,

Sara Dahmen is today’s guest on The Segilola Salami Show. Sara and I chat about motherhood and having a business at the same time. Sara shares what she’s learned from starting up her own business to being a female coppersmith. It was a most enjoyable conversation and I’m optimistic you would find it both enjoyable and relatable (if you are a mother). Please click play now to listen to what Sara Dahmen had to say.

About Sara Dahmen

As one of (if not the only) female coppersmith in America (or the world), Sara Dahmen has had a varied career, from her first job producing commercials for CITGO, to building a Silver Anvil award-winning event coordination company. After selling the wedding planning business she built over ten years, now Sara works as a metalsmith of vintage and modern cookware and manufactures pure metal kitchenware in tin, copper, and iron in her garage. Her debut novel, Widow 1881 {SillanPaceBrown 2018}, won the Laramie Award grand prize for Western Historical Fiction, Fiction Book of the Year from Author’s Circle, featured as a Pulpwood Queen Book Club Book, and is in talks for media development.
The historical research for her fiction inspired House Copper & Cookware. Sara’s American-made cookware created with pure and/or organic materials has been featured in national and international publications, from Cooking Light to Food + Wine, Veranda and Root+Bone and many more. HCC copper wares are built by Sara with some help from local, American, family owned and operated companies. She has published over 100 articles as a contributing editor for trade magazines, an recently spoke at TEDx Rapid City. She is the co-founder of the upcoming American Pure Metals Guild, and is courting interest from production companies for unscripted television.
Sara is also an apprentice to a master tinsmith in Wisconsin, where she works with tools from the 1700 and 1800’s to build vintage cookware or design custom work from scratch. She also is continually building her cookware line as well as her fiction series. When not writing or sewing authentic clothing for 1830’s fur trade reenactments, she can be found managing her household (not very well), hosting themed dinner parties, reading the Economist and reference books, brainstorming with her husband, John, of 12 years, or playing with her three young children (William, aged 7; Hannah, aged 5; Jack, aged 3). She is also extremely active in her Port Washington, Wisconsin community, sitting on boards and volunteer positions throughout the city.

Giveaway by Sara Dahmen
Sara is giving away to one lucky winner a Fire Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet worth $70 USD
Why would you want one, you ask. This is Sara’s answer: Timeless and meant to last generations, cast iron is a time-honoured cooking tool. My 8″ cast iron skillet was hand-poured in Wisconsin, hand-ground and hand-sanded by me, Sara, before being seasoned by hand over open fires in the backyard. The organic flaxseed oil is from North Dakota and rubbed on between each round in the flames.
Cast iron is quite easy to maintain and clean, and can be used for anything from frying fish and steaks to baking a brownie recipe out of a box! If taken care of, it can be passed down to many generations of family cooks! Cast iron is oven and stovetop safe.
