Applying Theology
Growing in Discernment
In order to live the Christian Life successfully, discernment is one of the greatest skills you must develop. You must learn to distinguish between your own thoughts, input and lies from the enemy, and the voice of the Lord. As we currently find ourselves in a season where external input is leading many to fear, anxiety and hopelessness, it is the perfect season to learn how to walk in discernment and walk in obedience to the Lord. Resources mentioned in this episode include the book, "4 Keys to Hearing God's Voice" by Mark Virkler and my blog post, "Spiritual Warfare: The Battle for Your Mind" Scriptures quoted or referenced in this episode include Genesis 3:1-7, Hebrews 5:14, Luke 4, John 4:7, John 8:32, John 10:10, John 14:15, Romans 5:8, Romans 8:1, 2 Corinthians 10:3-6. How to Hear God's Voice
Hearing God's Voice is one of the most vital things we do, as believers, to build our relationship with the Lord. In this episode we look at examples of how people hear God's voice, both in scripture and in the present day. These include hearing Him speak through the scriptures, hearing the audible voice of God, hearing the still, small "intuitive voice" of God. They also includes visionary gifts, such as dreams, visions, and trances. And they include things like angelic visitations, physical sensations, and inspired speech.
Scriptures quoted or referenced in this episode include 2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Samuel 3, Acts 9:1-9, Deuteronomy 13:1, Genesis 37:1-11, Genesis 41:1-36, Daniel 2, 2 Kings 6:17, Acts 10:10-17, and Hebrews 13:2.
